Essential Reading if you Plan a Eurpean Ski Holiday
This is a wonderful resource with loads of candid opinions on what's great and not so great in the Alps. It is an overview and does not go into tremendous detail on any one resort, but if you are trying to pick from the overwhelming range of choices, this book will definitely help. Be aware, the book is written from a decidedly British point of view so it places much value on some criteria that American skiers may not value quite as highly (i.e. whether on-mountain dining is of a high enough quality). Also, don't rely on the section covering US resorts for anything other than a humerous glimpse at how the Brits size up places like Vail and Lake Tahoe (both criticized for "lack of non-skiing activities"). There are no photos and the mountain maps give only the broadest idea of the mountains and terrain offer, but the individual writeups are worth their weight in gold.

Use the Web
A nice collection of information but for what I was looking for the web had as much information on what was where and how much it cost. This book is not worth as much as others becuase it lacks the reader input and real experience of going and being there. Most info can be picked up from travel guides and brochures.

not for young children
This book is not for kids. The lingo is too complex. Unless you are a snowboarder, you have no clue what the book talks about. There is a glossary in the back but who is going to read that to 5 year-olds?

I love this book
I think that this book is hilarious! Some kids I babysit have this book and they love it too. The pictures are great and the lingo is helpful for anyone who wants to know how real snowboarders talk. It is fun for me to read, so I dont mind reading it over and over.

Not for my kids....
Rhino's who Snowboard is not a book for younger kids. What 4 year old is snowboarding or needs to know what "Phat Air" is. And what parent would want to buy a book for those so young that teach it's ok to call someone a "MOGUL hopping KOOKS" which according to the glossary in back means," bump jumping jerks" And the older kids who do snowboard should be reading books with a little more depth to them. glossy porn
I purchased this book based on the reviews of customers and editorial reviews as well. Nowhere did I read about what was really in the book, which is glossy porn and drug use. If this is what you want then by all means buy the book. But if you are looking for good shots of snowboarders, any information at all about snowboarding, or really impressive photography, look elsewhere. There is no artistic content in this book. I could have taken these photos. This is not Maplethorpe or Liebowitz, it is just stupid. I just thought you should know what you are getting.

Ari Marcopoulos poesseses a unique ability to keep pace with the transglobal cultural ethos that is constantly and belatedly appropriated by mainstream media. Transitions and Exits is a perfect example. Marcopoulos and Cortez have selected a group of images that both confirms and dispels the stereotypes of this exploding privileged community. Marcopoulos' subtle use of digital manipulation and compositing within some of the layouts reinforces his vision and the overall story of his subjects. Marcopoulos understands his medium and has achieved its potential yet again.

this book offers a radical new look at the world of snowboarding and, for that matter, specific aspects of youth culture in general. it's also beautifully photographed and avoids the usual stylistic clichees of snowboarding photography... marcopoulos seems to have followed the crusaders of corporation-sponsored "rebellion" and "individualism" over longer periods of time, getting familiar with the various protagonists and their lifestyle, thus gaining access to all areas. this results in a volume of images of touching intimacy and odd beauty. This will inspire you.
This is a book about a troubled teen, Declan, who loves to snowboard. He unfortunately gets into a gang that likes to graffiti on things. One day, the gang starts a fire and ends up killing themselves. Declan does not get killed. Instead he has to go into rehabilitation for about 6 weeks. This rehabilitation center was in the mountains. There was snow on the mountains so Declan couldn't resist snowboarding. The only problem is that he almost killed himself about three times. Only two of those times were accidents. The third time he tried to kill himself because he was fed up with his life. That turned him around. Now because this book isn't very long, I don't want to give out any more information because it might give away the ending. I hope that you'll read this book because it's very good and I enjoyed it. Great Instructor!
I am very happy to say that I have had Dean Hill as my snowboard instructor in Aspen, CO for the past 2 seasons and he is the best! Just got the book and it is very easy to follow and makes sense. Dean really has a great passion for the sport and it shows in his book and in person on the mountain.

Imaginative
Surfers of Snow is an imaginative mystery novel that will appeal to young readers interested in outdoor sports, life in western Canada and crime-solving. The writing is lively and intelligent. Narrated from an adolescent boy's perspective, the author does a wonderful job of capturing the moods of a teen-ager, and the difficulties of growing up. Readers will puzzle over the mystery as the plot unfolds, but they will be surprised by an unexpected twist at the end. A terrific read for young people, Surfers of Snow will challenge young readers without belittling their intelligence.

Xtreme snowboarding Xtreme Mystery
I give this book three stars because it is fun to read and it is a good mystery story. The book is about three kids that snowboard. One day a snowboader is on a double diamond who bumps into a skier and breaks his leg. The owner of the ski resort bans snowboarding. Who did it? You can find out if you read Deep Powder, Deep Trouble.

A very gnarly book!
This book is soooooooo gnarly(cool) it will blow your pants off!The part thats really cool is the ending.you just HAVE to read this book to find out the ending!just to give you some things about this book:if you see a word is like werid look in the back at the lingo section to know what it means. Or you can look in the dictionary if its not there. so thats my advice! Get this book I tell you!

The Definitive Guide to Skiing and 'Boarding this Region
The author sets out to offer a comprehensive guide to the highlights of skiing and snowboarding the Mid Atlantic. He succeeds thoroughly, presenting the right info in a highly readable, yet matter of fact style. Packed with tons of useful data and pointers, the book is hard to put down, yet easy enough to throw into a backpack or dufflebag before hitting the slopes. A must have for the Eastern winter sportsman.

Finally, an all-inclusive resource!
This book is the best I've found. I ski at every opportunity and this book is chock full of good insight into every ski slope in the mid-atlantic area. I leave it in the car for whenever the ski bug bites and have given it to friends and family too. It's a great stocking stuffer.

A must for the Mid-Atlantic Area
The Mid-Atlantic Winter Sports and Ski guide is one of the most thorough and informative guidebooks for East Coast Skiers I've seen. John does a fantastic job highlighting each resort and offering suggests of what's good and what's not.

European Extreme
The Snowboard Guide "Europe" is an excellent reference to the European Snowboard Scene. This is the "Let's Go" of the European Snowboard Scene. I am an American Soldier stationed in Germany. I have utilized this book multiple times during my exploration of the Alps. While the book is slightly outdated it still has a very comprehensive coverage of the best spots in Europe. From best runs to best bars, and I have been to both this book delivers it all. I wish the publishers could get these guys together again or another group to generate another book with the same flair.

Good guide for powder country...
I live in Munich (Germany), and this book has been an excellent source of spots to go boarding in Europe. If perhaps a little out of date, its much better than any of the ski guides that i've got, all of which are more upto date but don't really cater fo the boarder. Good book, definitely worth it (even though I got it as a gift)
