Book Description
Have we got an excuse for you ... actually, more than 200 of them!

As a professional fib fabricator, author Kerry Speckman knows how to get you out of work, school and anything else you want to skip out on. She's so good at it, in fact, she managed to weasel out of 26 days working for one company — and was still named one of its outstanding employees of the year.

For the first time, Kerry spills her best tips, tricks and tales in “The Hooky Book” including:

• Why you owe it to yourself to play hooky
• How to craft a believable excuse
• And, most important, how to avoid getting caught

With Kerry's invaluable advice and experience, you'll learn how you, too, can climb the corporate ladder without leaving the living room couch. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ho-ho-hooky!!
If you're like most people who hate their jobs, you have GOT to get this book. Lots of great excuses--many I've used before and many I'd never even thought of. Laughed my [rear] off after reading it (hey, can you use that as an excuse for missing work--lost your [rear]?), then gave a copy to my nephew who was graduating from college. Highly recommended!! You can never have too many days off work!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well, I'd NEVER call in to work if my excuse wasn't true...
but I thoroughly enjoyed this hilarious and irreverent book.OK I admit, I've used a few of these.Using "female problems" as an excuse works pretty well if your boss is male, but you won't get much sympathy from a female supervisor/workaholic.

Thank goodness I now work at home, but I still have clients and there are probably times I will need a day off. Thanks Ms. Speckman! ... Read more

Product Description
This is a NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL MONTEREY CA report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A779414. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: During the 2000 presidential race, then Texas Governor George W. Bush advocated transforming and reforming how the Department of Defense (DoD) acquires new weapon systems. He promised a "revolution" that would "skip a generation of technology," in order to "move on to futuristic weapons without necessarily buying all those in development." This thesis examines President Bush's proposal and analyzes the potential impact on DoD and the defense industry. Ultimately the research revealed that there are ways to improve the acquisition process and protect the defense industry. The primary conclusion of the research is that it is feasible to skip current weapon systems in development, in order to begin research and development of the next-generation weapon systems. However, DoD will be impacted through higher operations and sustainment (O&S) costs to sustain existing weapon systems if weapon systems currently in development are skipped. The acquisition professionals that participated in this study believe these O&S costs could increase up to 10% per year for anywhere from five to 20 years depending on the type of system. This thesis makes additional recommendations and areas of further research. ... Read more

Book Description
Skipping Rocks at High Tide is not an autobiography in the traditional sense. However, it does offer insight into Mr. Lorenzo’s soul and mind at various moments in his life. The 75 poems he selected for his first book are his attempts at understanding everything from love to heartache, from fatherhood to competition, and from current events to death and dying. These writings are extremely personal to Mr. Lorenzo as they involve important, life-altering events that helped to shape his current views and beliefs. They were written while Mr. Lorenzo was losing the innocence of his childhood and discovering the potential of his adult life. The title of this work indicates the infinite possibilities that can result from simply doing day-to-day activities. Mr. Lorenzo hopes that the readers of this work will take away their own lessons, applied from their own experiences. ... Read more

From the supplier: Irrevocable life insurance trusts may be shielded from generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxation as well as gift taxation if the trust is structured with withdrawal rights to take advantage of the $10,000 gift tax exclusion. Prior to 1988, transfers exempt under the gift tax were also exempt from GST tax. As of 1988, taxpayers should file gift tax returns to receive valuation of the insurance policies in the trust to establish that the GST exemption applies. Tax planners should make sure that other transfers to grandchildren will not use up the $1 million GST exemption.

From the supplier: The generation-skipping transfer tax (GSTT) problems that a large estate may incur in using the qualified terminable interest property (QTIP) election can be minimized by using a reverse QTIP election. The estate planner should maximize use of the unlimited marital deduction, the unified credit and any GSTT exemptions. A regular QTIP trust that holds all assets to the surviving spouse for life with the remainder to the children will be subject to GSTT when the assets pass to the children. By allowing the executor of the first spouse to elect the reverse QTIP, the GSTT exemptions available to both spouses can be used.
