Great adventure book!
This was a cool book!
The story is about a boy named Keegan, who skis. He gets all tangled up in a mess that surrounds the local resort--snowboarding equipment that's being stolen. In order to figure out the source of the problem, he has to trade in his skis for a snowboard, and he befriends a new snowboarder who doesn't seem dangerous, but as time goes by, questionable things happen...

Quick chapters, drastic cliffhangers plots, and the author's wit is the perfect solution to keep anyone intrigued with the book, and craving more.

What's Rippin'?
Keegan Bishop is a terrific skier, but the real question is, can he snowboard?He is about to find out and find out fast in this Rippin' adventure.He finds a wire stretched across two trees and in his directski path.He witnesses people putting some snowboards into his team mate'svan...they belong to someone else.He over hears them planning to meet atnight at the top of the ski run.He gets to the top of the ski run and hehas already been spotted.The guy has a gun, he hasn't yet masteredsnowboarding yet, but he needs to get help and get help fast! Fun facts
This book doesn't really teach you how to snowboard, but it does contain some good history and facts.Interesting to read.

A bloody how-to book
The book was a little bloody in its descriptions.The story was set in the snowy mountains.The main characters in the book were Sherman Poppen, Bob Webber, and Dimitrije Milovich.My favorite character was Sherman Poppen because she was good at snowboarding and she did tricks too.My favorite part of the book was when they told you what you need to snowboard.I would recommend this book to my friends maybe they will try it once.However, I will only tell them if they are 13 years old or older because if they are younger they might get hurt.

I hope all you Canadian skaters out there enjoy this book. I know I do! Why, you ask? Cause I am in it! No joke.That's right, my name is Eric Franks (AKA The Disabled Skater).I still skate 7 years after the photo, and interview.It was by far, one of the best days of my life... The picture of me holding my REAL Keith Hufanegal Deck, standing in my walker (four-wheeled type contraption) was taken at Yuba City Skatepark, in Yuba City, California (U.S.A.), in April, of 98.I was there with my mom, (Lynne) and my two good friends: Jason and Gerald Lifur.

As it happened, I was just cruising around, and, Sonny Mayiugba (aka SM) noticed me, and came up to me asking, "do you mind if I take some pictures of you skating, and do an interview..." of course, I said yes! But, he also had to ask my mom. (cause I was under age at the time) Anyway, he actually took a pic of me skating up the side of a pyramid (at the park). The pic of me on the ramp was not published in the DOI? (For whatever reason). The pic of me actually skating is found in the magazine though. I think you can still get a copy of the issue via www.heckler.com or possibly EBAY, if they don't send you one? (for whatever reason)
Anyway, after about 20 minutes, he said, " look for yourself in next month's issue." Which was the actual magazine of Heckler. It was May 1998's issue (AKA The Simple Issue) Issue # 26 .I was so stoked, when later in May, I went to a skate shop called Zumiez, and found a copy.

Then, about a year ago, one of my friends, who owns a skateshop in California, called Unity, told me I was in this book! Then he went and showed me. Since then I have autographed a half dozen copies! I don't know how easy it is to get a copy in Canada? But in the U.S. you have to usually order it. I had to. Heckler never sent me any copy of the mag, or book. Lastly, all the other skaters, snowboarders, bands, many of whom I looked up to (and still do) are awsomely profiled in this book, such as Metallica, Ian Mackaye of Minor Threat (R.I.P.) and the still together, Fugazi, also appearances by: Green Day, Public Enemy, Tony Hawk, Tony Alva, Jay Adams, Duane Peters (of the band: U.S. Bombs) Steve Caballero, Christian Hasoi, and tons more!As always, keep on doing what you love, and do it the best you can.

Only 50% of what you are looking for... 2.5 stars
I bought this hoping to get some real strategy advice but it only delivers 50% of the time. The main selling point for some may be that they show where all the snowmen are. However, they are only shown on a large picture of the whole run without specific details of how to reach them. For me, I wanted some expert advice on beating the pros. The book doesn't deliver here. Rather than giving actual advice on most runs, they simply point out the obvious. Things like "On this run you'll have to pull off an 18,000 trick, followed by a 26,500, then another 18,000." OK, I can see that just by playing the game - Where's the stategy? What tricks will give me the most points? The book does give more tips when it comes to the score challenge and the media challenge, but only 50% of the time. There is also a breakdown of equipment stats (which is good) and all the stats of the pro riders in the game (who cares?). My advice would be to try and beat the game without this book. They should have put more useful info (strategy) into it. You should buy this if you are an Amped junkie and want to know all there is to possibly know (equipment stats, snowmen locations) but can handle the strategy on your own. ... Read more

good for non-family travelers
the good thing about this guide is that it focuses more on travel and resorts for those of us who dont need "the carnival cruise line" of snowboarding trips, i.e. its it includes tons of info for those of us without kids to consider. you can do this travel by yourself, with friends, on a budget or in high style, this rough guide gives you the choice, and there is a lot to choose from.
