5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic collection of surfing images
Surfing - Vintage Surfing Graphics traces the evolution of surfing icons through the entire twentieth century. Up until around 1960, surfing was an esoteric sport that barely touched the consciousness of people not living on a few select coastlines. Then surfing exploded to become a cultural phenomenon that captivated almost the entire world. Jim Heimann's book goes a long way toward explaining how this obscure sport grew to prominence. These images from magazines, advertisements, movies, postcards, and travel brochures vividly communicated the carefree excitement of surfing as a way of life that everyone wished they could enjoy.

If you want a fun afternoon, compare these images to twentieth century Communist icons and graphics. Both were selling a way of life. Maybe it tells us something about human nature that the surfing lifestyle continues to appeal and grow in popularity all over the world.

One last thing: for an inexpensive book, the production quality is exceptional. This is also a great companion book to Leroy Grannis: Surf Photography of the 1960s and 1970s

Whether you are interested in surfing, graphics, or cultures, you won't be disappointed in Surfing - Vintage Surfing Graphics.

I am twenty-one years old and I enjoyed this book. How could I not? I expected to hate it because it about the Olsen twins, but I didn't. Its really clever and funny and I even figured out the culprit so I feel happy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for Mary-Kate and Ashley
This was fun for Mary-Kate and Ashley!Their stuff is usually so bland so boring, it takes me a week to get through with them, and I'm not a reader who takes a week to read a book.I read 100 pages in a day or two.In this book, Tiffany is getting notes that tell her to stay out of the water.Does someone not want Tiffany to win? This book is definitely a surprise mystery.Don't buy their stuff!Rent it from a local library instead. If they don't have it, then get the book sent it from another branch of the library.I encourage you to not buy Mary-Kate and Ashley stuff. If we don't buy their stuff, then they'll change all of this boring stuff!

Product Description
When Boston heiress Adrienne Ridgely strides into Kai Cooke's Honolulu office, the "Surfing Detective" likes what he sees, but doubts what he hears.Adrienne's sister, environmental activist Sara Ridgely-Parke, has plunged to her death from a mule on Moloka'i—the first fatal incident on the soaring cliffs above Kalaupapa's fabled leper colony.Adrienne cries murder, perpetrated by Sara's ex-husband, developer J. Gregory Parke.Cooke journeys to Moloka'i, tracking tantalizing leads to an unlikely murder that, despite himself, he starts to believe in.

Was the mule prodded or spooked or drugged?Did Parke do it for vengeance or Adrienne for an inheritance, as Parke alleges?Soon Cooke uncovers a motive more noxious than either of these, entangling him in the shady dealings of big-time developers, corrupt politicians, and underworld thugs. As he hops from island to island seeking a pivotal clue, the clock ticks down on more than the P.I.'s case or even his own life. The future of Moloka'i itself is at stake. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I can't wait for Chip Hugh's next Surfing Detective book
Wow! Murder at Moloka'i is fantastic, man! Great stuff, brah! Once again, as in WIPEOUT!, the other Surfing Detective novel, a seeming accident, with no plausible suspects becomes a murder investigation with so many "people of interest" it's ridiculous. And after almost every character in the novel does a stint as Most Likely Suspect, we find out who it is, but that particular hardly even matters anymore.> > I'm telling you, this is pure pleasure, a blazing fast read, classic narrative construction, lots of fun to read dialog written in phonetic (and real authentic) island pidgin dialect, and a page-turner I didn't want to see end.>

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Debut Mystery Introduces the "Surfing Detective"
In this debut novel we meet Honolulu detective Kai Cooke, who bills himself as the "surfing detective". Plenty of Hawaiian local flavor, as Kai investigates the suspicious death of an environmental activist (Sara Ridgely-Parkes)who dies when she falls off a mule while riding down the Kalaupapa Cliffs on Molokai. While the death of Ms. Ridgely-Parkes is initially assumed to be an accident, her sister suspects foul play and hires Kai to investigate her death.

I really enjoyed the characters and setting in this book, and the mystery was interesting as well. I can't wait to read more books featuring the Surfing Detective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hughes really gets it right!
As a frequent traveler to Hawaii and a big mystery fan I like to combine the two and read books with Hawaiian settings. So often it quickly becomes clear that the author's use of a Hawaiian setting is a gimmick and/or based on travel brochure myth of what The Islands are like. Not so at all with Chip Hughes' books in the Surfing Detective series, Murder on Molokai and Wipeout. I was recently in Hawaii and was scanning bookshop for local authors and found the first two books in this series. Two days later after reading them both straight through, I was surprised and delighted to find both books rich in Hawaiian flavor and well written with interesting stories and characters. I highly recommend both books for fans of Hawaii, mystery detective PI fiction or just good books to read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book - Great Character!!
I read this book while vacationing on the island of O'ahu, and I simply could not put it down. This is one mystery that kept me turning pages until I was finished, and the character of "The Surfing Detective", Kai Cooke, is a great one. While making this character totally unique, Chip Hughes has taken some of the better attributes of some of our most beloved detectives and given them to Kai Cooke. If you can picture Magnum, P.I. with a touch of a Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler, you would have Kai Cooke. I thoroughly urge you to give this author and this story an opportunity to impress you as I was impressed. You will finish the story with a 'Mahalo' to Chip for one fine story! I cannot wait until further volumes about the surfing detective become available.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kampion's"Waves"
Kampion's "Waves" book is good, but not quite what I was looking for. For me, there were too many illustrations instead of photos and some of the photos were grainy, possibly due to over enlargement. This book is somewhat informative, but the information was not extensive enough for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Heart of the Earth
"The greatest waves in the world are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun. These twice-daily global oscillations are called the tides." ~ pg. 18

Drew Kampion is the former editor of Surfing magazine and in this book he explores the heart of the earth as it beats to the rhythm of 50-foot waves. "Waves" captures the essence of the ocean's energy and explores its many beautiful and in contrast, destructive forms. The images of the before-and-after view of Banda Aceh on the island of Sumatra reveals total destruction.

Where do waves come from?
What is a hydrofoil board?
Could you really ride a wave for 30 minutes?
How has Tow-In surfing made surfing even more challenging?

Mike Parsons is shown surfing at Jaws....gigantic waves like you can't believe! Pascal Vergne surfs at a place called Belhara near the border of France and Spain. Serena Brooke is show in a duck dive between a razor-sharp reef and a big wave called Desperations off the coast of Fiji.

If you enjoy this book, you have to see "Step into Liquid."

5-0 out of 5 stars Kampion Strikes Again
Drew Kampion was the first great surf journalist, back in the fledgling days of Surfer Magazine. He changed the way we thought about surfing and the things that mattered in Hawaii. This latest work, a remarkable combination of choice photos and intriguing illustrations (by Jeff Peterson) serves as the essential primer for understanding waves. I was particularly struck by some of the photographs -- Terry Wade bodysurfing the Wedge, a three-man outrigger canoe taking on big Hawaii, Mike Parsons on a bomb at Jaws -- and, naturally, by Kampion's clear-headed writing. As he once inscribed, "Life is a wave. Your attitude is your surfboard. Stay stoked and aim for the light." -- Bruce Jenkins

5-0 out of 5 stars A blast from the past
This book was out of print for years and was recently reissuedin paperback. Back in the early 60s, my father, who knew Dixon, presented me with a signed copy of the first edition of the book, and I was thrilled. I was only about 13 years old but was an avid body surfer, and I remember devouring the book in just a few sittings. When I saw that there was a new edition, I had to review it just for old time's sake.

This was before Dixon went on to write scripts for movies and for TV shows such as Flipper. He also wrote scripts for Sea Hunt and other TV shows and movies, and had a successful career as a scriptwriter in addition to his surfing activities. He also served as the editor of a couple of surfing magazines.

For the time, this book was the best introduction to surfing available and still stands on its own (or on the surfboard) today. Dixon grew up surfing in the 40s and by the early 60s was already a 20 year veteran of the sport, and he wrote with authority. I especially remember the story of Iron Man Jim who road behind ocean liners all the way from Catalina to Long Beach on his heavy, redwood board back in the 30s. There were giants back in those days and Dixon recounts some of their stories.

Dixon covers the history, from hundreds of years ago in Hawaii to today, basic surfing technique, board construction and design, and many other topics. The photos of big waves in Waimea, the Pipeline, Sunset Beach, and of the surfers riding them were great. Types of waves, surf hazards, how waves are formed and break (it requires about a 2/3 height ratio between the ocean bottom and the height of the wave for that to happen) are all discussed. Also, there's a section on body surfing in addition to board surfing. All in all a great classic that still has relevance today.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beyond quaint, kooky or camp, this is an cultural artifact
This 1965 (not 1969 as printed above) issued Ballantine paperback is an honest to goodness 'how to' book on the art of surfing, ummm, I mean sport of surfing. Back in the 1960's when people actually built things and were self-taught in their endeavours, as opposed to today's world when we buy everything off the shelf and can take courses on practically anything, a book like this was probably a godsend to every midwestern kook and gremlin wannabe out there, for this book literally covers everything from the history of the surfing, to how waves are made by mother ocean, to how man has contrived to ride them over time, to how one can do it today, circa 1965 and even to building a board of one's own. Oddly, for a paperback, the text is heavily sprinkled with really great photographic examples of such things as the 'quasimodo,' 'hanging five,' wake surfing, pearling, trimming, carving and stalling, keeping in mind that surf photography then was done with Brownies, Leicas and box cameras. It's all done in a tone of earnestness too which makes the book that much better. Anyone who has a love of and interest in the history of surfing should probably at least read this book and should probably own it. I mean, who knew that France has been an European surf mecca since the 1950's, or that so few spots in California were surfed back then (yep, primo California surf spots are mapped)? Finally one of the really great sections of the book is its discussion of modern surfboard design (with requisite diagrams). Let's face it, if you've read this far you're gonna buy this book, and you should! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining, quick read, who knew there was so much to know about surfing?
I picked this up and read 100 pages before I even realized it. Who knew that surfing was so interesting? There is a lot to know but Borte gently educates you in a very witty fashion. He entertains you with his own mishaps. The 9 stupid questions not to ask a surfer made me laugh out loud, (I've asked them all). I didn't know that 99.7% of the population does not surf. I know so many people with surf apparel and gear. We are all wannabes. He also demystifies shark bites, only one person dies every two years by a shark attack, way more people die by dog or snake bites every year. He offers very helpful information on how to just go out and surf or find a surf school.
A great read. I recommend it.

As someone that has been around surfing for most of my life but never actually tried it myself, I can honestly say that this book is applicable to everyone, whether you are a surfer or not. Although the primary theme is surfing, the ideas and ways of being Borte discusses apply to everyday life.Overall it's a smart, funny, easy to read book that is very enjoyable and I highly recommend it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Book review for:The Surfing Corpse(By Paul Zindel)
I thought this was a very good book. I'm gald I decided to read it, it was well worth my time. What made the book most interesting was it's plot and especially it's characters.

This book is abut two kids named PC and Makenzie. they live in New York City and work together in solving mysteries. When they're on a field trip at a waterfall, a student supposedly falls of edge of the falls. PC and Makenzie think the kid's mother did it at first, but when they take a trip to Las Angeles to investigate, they are convinced otherwise...

One of my favorite things about the book was it's main characters. PC Hawke and his 'partner', Makenzie were just two regular middle schoolers, but they did lots of crime investigations and got to go to lots of places.
I thought they were really lucky when they got to go to L.A. to solve a murder mystery.I liked how PC and Makenzie were extremely nosy and were always getting themselves into trouble. The other characters made the story interesting, too. I thought that the mother of the student who fell of the waterfall was very entertaining and sort of funny.

The other thing that made the book great was the plot. It had all sorts of unexpected twists and turns. The whole story you had no idea of what was going to come next. My favorite part of the entire story was at the very end, when PC and makenzie were trying to be killed by a group of people. It was very intense, but turned out good.

I strongly recomend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery book with twists and turns all throughout it. It's a great book and i'm happy I read it.

The Surfing Corpse
By: Paul Zindel

The Surfing Corpse is a wonderful book about two best friends eho have to work hard to solve the mystery of their classmate's murder. It is filled with twists and turns that lead you to the breath-taking ending. PC and Mackenzie use their brains, eyes, ears, and intuoition to crack the case wide open. The way that the story is laid out wraps you up in intensity to the point that you will want to listen to it all night. The author, Paul Zindel, shapes the way that the story changes as an artist does with clay. He has also written many other award-winning books. I loved the book and so will anyone else who enjoys an action-packed murder mystery!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Surfing Corpse
For every person who likes a little twist and a mystery, The Surfing Corpse is a book that you should read. The Surfing Corpse is a book about two best friends named Mackenzie and P.C. (Peter Christopher).Their junior class trip turns into a disaster when classmate Timmy Warner plunges down a 300-foot waterfall. Soon after his funeral, Mrs. Warner's strange behaviors send P.C. and Mackenzie to Los Angeles, where they follow a twisting trail of clues involving a mysterious surfer, a murderous ghost, and some good actors. My opinion of this book is that this is a great book that will keep turning the pages until the book is finished! I could not put this book down for a second. And when Timmy Warner plunged down the waterfall, I thought for sure that he'd survive and that he jumped himself. There were a lot of times where I thought I figured out the mystery and I didn't. If you read this book it will probably happen to you to. To figure out this mystery you must read this book. If you are going to try and figure out the mystery your self, good luck trying! Therefore, this is a great book. And I think that you should read it. So. Read it!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Guaranteed Read-Aloud Hit
I am reading this title aloud to my 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students. They moan and beg for just a little more everytime I tell them that we are out of time and they will have to come back next week to find out what happens in the next chapter. They love the snappy dialogue and are now borrowing every Paul Zindel book we own or can borrow from other libraries.

5-0 out of 5 stars The thrilling second book in the series.
P.C. and Mackenzie, along with the rest of their class, saw Timmy Warner fall to his death over a three hundred foot waterfall. But unlike the others, they don't accept it as a simple accident. When they suspect his angry mother may be involved, they follow her all the way across the country to L.A., where they meet Timmy's sister and discover that his mother is trying to use the supernatural to contact her dead son. Then one day at the beach, they see a shocking site. The dyed hair doesn't fool P.C. and Mackenzie. The surfer they saw is Timmy. At first they think the death was staged in order to collect insurance money. But the real reason will truly shock them. Fans of the first book about P.C. and Mackenzie won't want to miss this one. ... Read more

Product Description
We are a culture of surfers; whether we're changing channels, browsing web sites, or skimming glossy pages, we are constantly sampling the dreams and experiences of others, to try to make sense of--or distract us from--our own. As the bestseller lists indicate, we are also engaged in a search for our souls, attempting to reclaim that mysterious, sacred uniqueness that entitles us to the joy and freedom that we sense are missing from our lives. Soul Surfing combines these two popular notions into a powerful prescription for spiritual development: a ten-step program that tells readers how to achieve real-world benefits by connecting with their soul work with the same intensity and intimacy that they bring to the movies, music and media that dominate our culture.

An intuitive counselor with a thriving private practice, Dawnea Adams goes beyond tales of her psychic prowess to offer techniques that readers can perform independently: a series of ten visualization-based spiritual steps, called "phases," that help readers accomplish the precise spiritual healing and growth they need to move ahead. As soul surfers, we are taught to scan our memories and dreams and lock in to the sources of our pain. In terms that the media-distracted masses can understand, each phase then guides us through the creation of a movie of the mind in which we visualize the healing we need; ranging from scenes recalled from our past to those imagined in our future, these visualizations help us replace toxic mental reruns with empowering visions of liberation and possibility. Each phase is accompanied by inspiring case histories from Adams' years of private practice, recommended video viewing, and revealing personal stories that illustrate the powerful role that phasing work has played in Adams' own spiritual journey.

Accompanied by case histories from Adams' years of private practice, glimpses of the powerful role that this work has played in her own journey, as well as recommended video viewing, Soul Surfing is a life changing self-help book for the media-saturated millennium. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Flat Seas
Surfing: A History of the Ancient Hawaiian Sport (1996) by Ben Finney and James D. Houston, which calls itself'the first book to chart surfing's Pacific origins in the context of Polynesian culture,' has its juiceless roots in Finney's mid-Sixties master's thesis at the University of Hawaii.

Written without enthusiasm or verve, the book plods along, its undistinguished text style flattening what should be a colorful, vital, and fascinating history. For the 30th anniversary addition, the authors state that they have decided not to revise the text, a strategy which might have worked had the original been stronger. But Surfing: A History of the Ancient Hawaiian Sport, at a slim 117 pages, could badly use some lively additional material.

Though the book contains a variety of prints of traditional Hawaiian surfing practices and customs, there are surprisingly few historical photographs, and less than a handful from the post-Forties period. Though most of the photographs included are excellent, avivid photo documentary of one of the most colorful sports in history the book is not.

Surfing: A History of the Ancient Hawaiian Sport may be useful to students or novice researchers, but most of the information contained here can be found elsewhere, and in brighter, more stimulating form.

The book does include interesting maps of the most heavily-used surfing areas in ancient times, a pronunciation guide, an appendix of Hawaiian surfing terms, and firsthand observations by Mark Twain and Jack London as they witnessed the sport in 1872 and 1911.

A far better book in every possible sense is Drew Kampion's exceptional Stoked: A History of Surf Culture (2003).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great surfing background
I read this book on the plane back from Hawaii, and I can see that Chip Hughes really knows his islands, as well as his surfing. I'm not sure he really explained the central mystery of the book, but it was a quick fun read that shows Hawaii in all its colors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wipeout is a Knockout of a Good Read!
After reading reviews of Chip Hughes' two novels--Murder on Molokai and Wipeout--I sent for both of them and have just completed reading them both.I love reading mysteries set in Hawaii and these books fit that description to a "T".They're fast-paced, great island descriptions, keep you guessing and eager for more!I understand his next novel will be out in the fall and I can't wait for it to be released.I highly recommend both--Murder on Molokai is his first novel and gets you acquainted with the surfing detective.Wipeout continues the adventures of Kai Cooke (the surfing detective).

5-0 out of 5 stars Hughes hits another home run!
As a frequent traveler to the Hawaiian Islands, I enjoy reading well-written novels set in Hawaii. The trouble is that it is hard to find a really good one. Last year, I found one. It was "Murder On Moloka'i" by Chip Hughes. I couldn't wait for another book.
I got my wish this year with the release of his newest book, "Wipeout."
It was every bit as good (if not better) than his first novel. It tells another story of the everyday Hawaiian PI, Kai Cooke. Fans of Dashiell Hammitt and Magnum, P.I. alike will enjoy this character. I won't spoil the story for you, but I will tell you that if you want to read a wonderfully fun and entertaining novel, then Wipeout is for you! I strongly urge you to buy this book!!

I highly recommend both books for fans of Hawaii, mystery detective PI fiction or just good books to read! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Places you've been become a little more familiar
Southern California equals warm waters and crowded breaks. So just find yourself someplace to lineup that's just about within kissing distance of an ugly boil or exposed rock and you might find a little breathing room.Or, when that crowds-up, find some ice cream headache of a break in someplace that THEY will never find out about. And then, thirty years or so later, when strength is somewhat more tenuous and time somehow seems ever more precious, you can turn some pages in a book like this and be transported to a time when you first learned to walk on the water, and dream of returning, and of youth, and a world that seemed endless.

And my brother and I remember the day that there was the girl in the lineup at Dana Point, one four-foot day, who memorably, not too gently, called out to those who had ears to hear, the news about her boyfriend, that had slipped off of his board into the water for a moment, "Hey guys, look at him . . . he's whizzing!"

Wish they all could be California . . .

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is so cool
As a late 50's and early 60's surfer growing up in Imperial Beach, CA.I could have used this book on our excursions north to surfers paradise, take your pick, this book list them all.Gosh what can I say what a trip, I found my book at a flea market and paid 50 cents for it.I would pay easy for this book what they are asking for it.Original price 8.95 for my 2nd edition. If Ida only known. My son moved to Ventura last year and I loaned him the book and he was so jazzed. He found all the places mentioned and got to surf a lot of them.He wants me to win the lottery and move to Hollister ranch.I had forgotten about sneaking into Hollister back then.Awesome Surf and a very special little book. Thanks to the authers for a great trip down memory lane.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thanks to Surfers Everywhere for Appreciating Our Book
When Bill Cleary and I lived three houses away from each other at Topanga Beach and he began to write this book, we never dreamed that it would become the appreciated classic that it has. I simply want to thank the surfing public for having expressed their appreciation many times during the 40 years since we wrote it.

In 1998 Bill and I we brought out what we called the "35th Anniversary Nostalgia Edition."In 2002, when the first printing sold out, we reprinted it.

And then, on July 4, 2002, my friend Bill died.Of a heart attack. At age 64.He was the first surfer I ever saw (it was 1959), and he was then one of the fittest athletes I'd ever seen. The last 15 years of his life he had Parkinson's Disease, which destroyed his coordination and made his life hell.May he rest in peace.

But for me, life goes on.I now live in Jerusalem, Israel, and I don't surf much any more.In fact, even by my own minimalist definition of catching at least one wave per calendar year, I'm an ex-surfer, because I last went out in the year 2001.

When the present supply of books sells out, there will be no more reprintings.

Happy surfing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Guide Book Ever Written?
I've probably spent more time with this book than any other, except for the Bible. That's because SURFING GUIDE is the Bible of surfing guidebooks. For me, it's more than nostalgia.I actually used it quite a bit when it first came out, and I found its information very accurate.Of course, since I've been away from the Pacific for lo these many years now, it has become essentially a nostalgia trip. And since the surfing scene is so different now than when it was written, unless you're a full-bore retro longboarder (and I know there're lots of you out there), it's probably almost per se an exercise in nostalgia. But don't let that put you off.Cleary and Stern are very clever fellows and shrewd observers.Their wry observations and sly sensibilities propel this book out of its homely little genre and into the vast ocean of truly great reads. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Condition!
A classic book in awesome condition. The shipping was fast, the description of the books condition was spot on.

3-0 out of 5 stars Touching, but not too deep...
Bank Wright's guide to Hawaiian surf spots touches upon some nice areas, and has a few pleasant PC poems, but ultimately falls short of telling it how it really is. How many times do we need to be warned about dangerous reefs and riptides? Maybe he should have just given this warning once at the beginning and left it at that. But his south shore Oahu map is pretty thorough, and in a few other zones he does find (like a bumbler) some good spots. Overall though, he misses more than he finds, and thus 'Surfing Hawaii' is ultimately blind. If comments such as these upset you- let me ask you, where are the islands of Molokai and Lanai? Overlooking surf spots is excusable- as there are many in the Hawaiian Islands, but calling a book 'Surfing Hawaii' and then excluding two out of five ISLANDS? That seems gravely incomplete, does it not? And I know what you are thinking- "Yea well Molokai and Lanai don't have a lot of good spots." Yeah well from my experiencing scoring on those two islands, there are enough good spots to include in his guide, backwater locals or not. I mean, if Bank is going to hype up places like Tonggs and the east side of Oahu, the least he could do is mention Manele point on Lanai. So I found his poems touching; as for his guide to the waves- not too deep. His 'Surfing California', however, is worth five stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great reference book
This is one for the coffee table. Cheap, and well worth a minor investment. Details a majority of the breaks out there, but does however, miss a few. Fun to look back into an era past.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good reference, but imperfect
Bank Wright covers all the Islands, and methodically goes around each, including an insightful one paragraph description of the major breaks, including the best time of year, typical size, etc. The maps included takea while to get used to as north is not always oriented to the top. A goodreference if you're traveling to Hawaii and want some fundamentalinformation. ... Read more

I am a retired school teacher living in the Philippines. Been here for 2 years now. I grew up surfing in S. California and now enjoy the surf here in the Philippines.I also have a Filipina girl friend. In this delightful story, the author describes the thrill and addiction of surfing and the loveliness of the Filipina. His insights about theculture and the people's daily struggle with rampant poverty are exceptionally accurate. Despite their dismal living conditions, the people here are some of the happiest and nicest in the world as exemplified in this book. If one is not a surfer, they may become somewhat bored with the detailed description of every wave the author and his friends experience. However, if one wants some insight into Filipino culture and the beauty of it's people, I highly recommend this book. For me was a can't put down page turner. ... Read more
