3-0 out of 5 stars Need DVD
I bought this book immediately after buying a mini trampolene and needed instruction. But it turns out that it cannot be adequately explained in a book. It really needs to be demonstrated in a video how to do the exercises. So I suggest to other beginners that they look for a DVD for instruction. I have not done this yet. What I found is it much more difficult and tiring to rebound than I expected so instruction should take this into account and this book does not make this clear. Beginners need to be advised on very gentle rebounding for the first fortnight until the muscles strengthen. Dont try to bounce with your feet leaving the surface of the trampoline during this time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Great Rebounding book!!!
This, also, is a very good book about rebounding. If you're interested in this form of exercise this should be on your Must Read list. When I started rebounding I wanted to read everything I could find out about it.It's such a healthy form of exercising. There's a lot of good information on the internet too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eye-opener
I just purchased a folding Needak soft-bounce rebounder (I LOVE it!) and this book was included in the shipment. I bought the rebounder simply because I thought it would be fun. I had no idea it can be a serious part of one's exercise regimen.

The book (copyright October 2008) has changed my perceptions completely. It's loaded with different suggestions on how you can use a rebounder and even has pictures of the elderly using their Needak's. Without this book, I would have thought elderly bouncing was a crazy-bad idea... It states it is 68% more efficient than floor exercises of the same length, bouncing flushes out the lymphatic system and is even an ideal form of exercise for those with osteoporosis due to weight-bearing without the shock. I prefer it to a treadmill - it takes up much less space and is a fraction of the cost (And I can BOUNCE on it!). I have no experience with other rebounders which I've heard don't have as much spring, but I really love mine.

Granted, the book doesn't rise to rigorous, scientific work, but I give it a 5 for opening my eyes to the benefits of rebounding and giving me a lot of suggestions for its use I never would have come up with on my own. Maybe I should have been able to, but I doubt I would have. I'm trying to get past my selfish streak and send the book to my mom so she can pass it around at her assisted living center. I just don't think most people see a rebounder as anything more than a toy for kids and this book will give them plenty to think about. And the pictures of people using their rebounders reinforces it's a viable tool for everybody.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rebounding Basics for the novice
This book is very clear in its instructions. I feel that I now know how to begin and work up to more advanced rebouding moves. I really appreciate the information presented for those folks with disabilties who can also benefit from rebounding.

2-0 out of 5 stars Please don't bother
I bought this book on a whim and it was NOT A GOOD BUY!!!!Recently I got a mini trampoline (rebounder) because a friend suggested it would help with weight loss. I figured this book would give me an exercise plan or a good workout to follow, it did neither. The book is basic and not any more helpful then me telling you what you already know, jump up and down on the trampoline and eventually you'll lose weight by actually doing something involving exercise.I didnt learn any new tips I didnt already know and if you seriously are interested in this book, let me know and I'll just give it you the copy I wasted my money on!!!! ... This book offers background information of the sport of rebounding and provides exercise programs for age groups small child to senior with different levels of expertise.A lot of information for the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sneider's resistive rebounding
The book is an easy read. I've been rebounding for several years. The routines in the book are easy to follow and I am very pleased with the results- been using his plan for 2-3 weeks and can already see increased strength and muscle tone. I will definitely keep this in my daily fitness routine. My teens are enjoying it as well. Another plus is you can work your body on many levels all at once and it doesn't have to take long on days when rushed.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Complement to a Rebounder
If you have a rebounder you need this book.I bought a copy back in the 80s, lost it and just had to buy another. The exercises are simple and explained well.I do advise getting the soft weights they recommend, as I have hit myself in the head with them more times than I can count.

4-0 out of 5 stars Harry & Sarah Sneider's Olympic Trainer: Fitness Excelence through Resistive Rebounding

5-0 out of 5 stars Two boys' review: As fun as a trampoline...B-O-I-N-G!
Most nights, sandwiched between my sons (ages 6 and 4) I read two books before they go to bed. We read 4-5 new stories each week and fill the rest of our time with favorites from their large bookshelf.

I've come to learn that reading aloud is a partnership. The author and illustrator provide the basic tools but, ultimately, the reader must use them to bring the story to life for the audience. That energy starts with clear pronunciation and enunciation, building with rhythm and cadence, upon which voices (or impersonations) match the different characters and sound effects are layered to complete the story.

Ultimately, "Boing" lives or dies depending on your performance. My sons loved this book. They have their own trampoline, so a story about the "Great Elastic Marvel" bouncing all over the city was a perfect match.

For "Boing" I've got two tips:

1. Narrate the book as though you are the ringmaster of a circus: "Ladies and Gentlemen...Children of all ages!"

2. Place your hand on the book; when the Great Elastic Marvel bounces back into the sky, throw your hand into the air with an enthusiastic "Boing!"

In summary, I highly recommend this book for bedtime reading. The Great Elastic Marvel landed a five-star rating from our sons.

BTW: Check out my review of The Monster at the End of this Book from my list of "Young boys' bedtime books" for more tips on reading aloud.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous for both kids and adults!
What a fun and imaginative book! Both my four year old son and I found it entertaining read after read. The pictures are inventive and there are plenty of fun details.I found it by chance in the library and can't believe I never heard of it before!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun
My two-year-old loves this book. When I read it, I leave out some of the words so make it shorter and more succinct. We checked it out of the library several times and now we are going to buy it.We had great fun enacting the scenes from the book with stuffed animals.

5-0 out of 5 stars EDITOR'S CHOICE IN "BOOKS FOR KEEPS" MAGAZINE
Practising a 'deadly difficult quadruple, headfirst flip', the Great Elastic Marvel (five times World Trampolining Champion) misses his trampoline and plunges out of a high storey window. Absorbed in a TV cartoon, his son Felix does not notice that his father is hurtling towards earth and certain death. But is it possible that the Great Elastic Marvel's gymnastic skills can save him? Boing! Boing! they do, time and again as he bounces up and down in a series of extraordinary feats.

This wonderfully entertaining tale with its deadpan, perfectly placed text is illustrated with black line and wash in the French style reminiscent of Bemelmans and Dufy. Stripey awnings and acursive script at dramtic moments reinforce the Gallic flavour and there are lots of delicious jokes in the illustrations. A triumph that will be enjoyed by everyone from five upwards.
