This book has a couple of elementary tips that could be deemed as useful for a beginner, but otherwise it's useless and misleading.I wish I hadn't wasted my time reading it or wasted the money I paid to buy it.

Product Description
The object of this book,"Any Given Day" is to take the gamble out of sports gambling. The statistical probability system explained in this book is an objective system for both professional football and basketball. There is no guess work as the system is based on simple math and statistics.

The system was developed in the early 1950's while working with my father who taught physics and calculus in college.Coming together, a mining and civil engineer and a teacher, coach and athletic director, the system has been refined and brought up to date for todays sports.

February 6, 1005 which was Super Bowl XXXIX the exact score was predicted by the system, New England 24 and Philadelphia 21.Because of this, I was called gifted in Las Vegas. There are many games listed in the book that pick the exact score. How about week 10 played November 10, 2002 between Atlanta and Pittsburg. The system picked the game to be a tie.I called the game at 24 Atlanta and 24 Pittsburg. That became the final score after overtime. No game had ended in a tie for many years, and until this year, 2008, there had been no other.

This book is much more than just the winning football and basketball system as it covers sports gaming rules, sports talk, the type of wagers, and which to use and which to stay away from using. This is a real love novel because with one $10.00 two team parlay bet you will almost double the price you paid for this book.

The chapter, Beyond Stupidity, is enlightening as it gives the reader an inside look at the coaching world.A mistake by a coach can cause a loss, Where as, a mistake by a player may not.You will see why coaches are finally being paid more money than in the early years of pro sports.

Money Management is a very important chaper for any phase of life.Remember "Pigs get fat, and hogs get slaughtered".Self-discipline, self-control and mental strength is a large part of money management. Here is where we will talk about a few tricks of the trade.

As in any business or job, there are trade secrets that can help make a winner.

In this chapter, we will show how to set short and long term goals. How to play both teams playing in a game and win with both. Here you will also see how to bet without losing any money. You will either win or break even.

Nothing in this world changes over night, and if it does change for a short time it is called an upset. There are lotteries in many states where you pick all or a number of games. This book will tell you how to play these.

The last chapter will review the 2004-2005 Season. We will go week by week and show who, why, and how we picked the game and team to bet.

Although, over the past 7 years, in picking all of the National

Ffootball League games the winning percentage is 70.67%.In basketball, over the last four years, by playing the teams, that fit into the system, a fantastic 86.3% have been winners. It only got better in 2009 as the system picked 93% winners, 134 wins out of 144 games.

The book will show that at one point out of 21 plays the system picked 20 wins and 1 tie. These were parlay combinations using 45 teams.Another 4 week group of plays will show 24 wins with 1 tie using 54 teams in parlay combinations.

Once you have mastered this easy system, you will be able to rate 16 games in 20 minutes. This is recession proof and does not require a bail out. Also, you will never need to pay for tips again. You will be the handicapper! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy system to understand and very informative as far as wagering goes!!
If you like sports and like making the games a little more interesting, then you want this book! It has opened my eyes to a lot of different ways to make some extra cash doing something I love... watching sports! Not only does this book teach you how to pick winners it also guides you through the betting process. Everyone knows how to gamble but like the book says its, "taking the gamble out of gambling." It really does just that. When I follow the system and follow its rules I win! I've tried tweaking the rules to make that extra buck here and there and lets just say I learned my lesson the hard way. I can't wait for the next Vegas trip... I wouldn't leave home without it!

1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste of paper
I honestly don't know if you could pick a worse book on the topic of sports handicapping. The problems can be summed up in a few points:

1. Most of the text is rambling opinions on current coaches/teams and not about any real long term system towards handicapping.
2. The brief chapters on a mathematical approach to handicapping are the basic of basic.Nothing that can't be found in a few web sites online.
3. The claims of winning percentages are false. If you go and do the calculations given over a given season(s) you'll find that the formula performs at ~50%.
4. The editing on this book is beyond horrible. How do you print a book which uses the word loose in place of the word lose?

Don't waste your money on this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend
I highly recommend this book if you are a serious sports bettor or just bet for fun. After reading the book I tried the basketball system and found that unlike many, the system in this book works. As of this date playing the N.B.A. teams, using the system and playing the teaser bets I have won 25 out of 28 plays. If you want to win get this book.
Hey, on December 21 the system picked the exact score utah 99 Orlando 104.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Formula for Betting NFL Football.
This book and it contents are a little outdated but it is a very good book to add to your collection of Sports Betting.

4-0 out of 5 stars Any Given Day
I saw there were no reviews as yet on this book which made me decide to write one to inform anyone interested in having more fun with betting on games should give it a read.I enjoyed learning what was shared in the book, and had a lot more fun betting using this method. It was easy to understand as it really wasn't that complicated.I would definately recommend it. ... Product Description
This book is mostly about my 30 years in the betting world. Items covered include:

1) My long struggles to become a winner (called 'earner' in the book) in the arenas of betting the NFL, the NBA, and playing blackjack as a card counter.

2) Descriptions of my betting in these fields over the years. Many 'war stories' are furnished concerning each form of betting.

3) My experiences in the media. This includes the eight years I consulted for Pete (AKA Rib Roast Neck) Axthelm on NBC and, late,r ESPN television. Also given extensive mention are my experiences writing sports- betting columns for many newspapers, including "The Los Angeles Herald Examiner", "The San Francisco Examiner","The NY Daily News," The Boston Herald" and "College and Pro Football Newsweekly," among other publications.I write in depth about various people I dealt with at these publications. Also mentioned are the experiences I had with several books I have written (among them are "Beat the Sports Books" and "Las Vegas Blackjack Diary.")

4) Many, betting personalities--some well known and some not. Chapters include: "Nine Major Betting Earners," "Betting Earnees," Two Major Betting Frauds," "Notable Bookmakers,"and "Notable Betting Characters I Have Known."

5) Many personal details of my life. Included in this are a chapter about women I have known (including every very significant other I have had), my 16 close calls with death (including five times when I have had loaded guns pointed at my head), my early life (and how it lead me to my ultimate employment), and a chapter about important people in my family. The final and most unusual chapter of the book is entitled "How an Earner (Me!) Sees the World."

Other chapters mention how I came to start nicknaming people (there are probably over 1,000 nicknames used in this book) and some non-betting world friends I have (and have had).

This will be considered a very unique book on the topic of wagering. The truths revealed in this work--about me and others in this field--as well as the various details covered make this memoir unlike any other written in the field. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great read from one of the best
I've been reading Dan's work for a few years now, and his information is always top-notch. His sports information is always very logically presented, and his insider knowledge is second to none.

His service and earlier book has changed the way I approach sports-investing, and I highly recommend his work to anyone who is serious about wagering on sporting events, or wants to become better at it.

Bottom line - this is a great read. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Old, Outdated and Useless
This book is part of the trio of Bob McCune's handicapping books which consist of unedited articles he's written for various gambling magazines. All three books are extremely verbose and often times off-topic ramblings which give very little helpful information in beating sports betting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Great information. Very helpful.

Best Gambling Portalhttp://www.increasedodds.com

1-0 out of 5 stars Circa 1900?
Please keep in mind this "book" is not really one per se.It is a rag-tag grouping of previously written columns by McCune and neither the book nor the columns were apparently edited as there are numerous spelling and wording errors throughout.Similar content is repeated throughout the book many times. Also the author feels the need to introduce each section with a REALLY bad poem and often goes quite off-topic in trying to establish a point related to sports betting.

This might be a decent book for somebody who is just starting out in the world of sports betting. You learn what juice is, how a local bookie might shade a hometown line etc. However all the information was written at least 10 years or more ago.As sport-betting moves into a new era, the usefulness of this dated information is questionable but it was frustrating to sit through reading.

In short, there is very little worthwhile about this book for a more advanced player with a semi-decent understanding of mathmatical probability.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, It Worked for Me !!!
... I have only been a sports bettor for the past 3 months and this book has changed everything for me. I used to just look at some statistics and I thought I knew what I was doing, but my winning percentage was still hovering around .500. Now that I've read this book and learned how to bet like the pros do, my winning percentage is .765! I've also learned how to manage my money and when to bet big. This is the sports betting bible, and only those that don't know about it are probably just guessing when they bet.

I will never bet on a "hunch" ever again. This book has really opened my eyes to what is possible when betting on sports.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Bet
I took a gamble buying this book on positive feedback from others - I lost.

Lots of ryhmes, many words in CAPITALS, even a picture of the author circa 1949 but unfortunately very little useful information on how to systematically implement winning sports betting methods. ... Read more
