You're A Good Human, Miss Malarkey!
I bought this book on impulse without expecting much and so was very pleasantly surprised. I've yet to see another picture book that introduces the notion of adult fallibility with such sweetness and humor. Miss Malarkey, stepping in as soccer coach, endures some rather poor behavior from parents, and boy, does she show them!

My daughter loves the comeuppance, as well as the the fact that some of the humorous dialogue takes place in balloons over the characters' heads. (Your child IS going to be exposed to comic book formatting someday. Isn't it best that YOU be the one to introduce it?)

Kids spend their young lives having to obey adults and take as given that they know better. Miss Malarkey makes it a lot easier to take.

If you or your son/daughter is looking for an athletic scholarship-you HAVE to get this book!!
This was the first book I've read on this subject and already I feel like I know so much!I don't know about you, but I'm doing much of my son's work in this area, so I feel like I'm doing the reading for him as well.It's important for the parent to be knowlegable even if the child DOES do the work, for they (the parents) will be doing much of the speaking and "negotiating" (key word you will learn much about) for the child.Have the facts to back you up.This author has been around and worn every 'hat' having anything to do with the whole issue of college athletics from parent to recruiter to agent to coach and MORE!You get the impression that you're really getting the inside information that you need to get the best deal for your child's education.Thank you Mr. Wheeler!

It worked!
A friend's daughter who followed the recommendations for overcoming the Division III confusion & duplicity and successfully used the Ultimate Negotiating Weapon chapter recommended this book to us. Our daughter is a high school sophomore and wants to play ball in college. After reading the book, I know we will be prepared for every step of the recruiting process.

Amazing
This is a great book if you have a high school athlete who wants to play in college. It really opened my eyes and one coach did something the book predicted he would.

An essential tool to have
Prior to acquiring this book we knew next to nothing about the whole process.It is especially helpful for those who live in areas where a potential scholarship candidate is not likely to be seen by very many if any recruiters.The author does a great job in laying out a step by step process that a potential college athlete should take beginning long before their senior year in high school.He stresses over and over that it will not be easy and success will likely only be achieved through the same hard work that led to the development of that person's athletic skills.A couple of areas that were not covered as well as I'd have liked were a more delineated seperation of the strategies for Div 1 & 2 schools as opposed to Div 3 and more discussion of the pluses and minuses of parental involvement.These are not significant drawbacks, however, and I would give the book 4 1/2 stars if possible.

Mental help for any bowler...
I found the book easy to read and understand. I have applied some of the things I read in the book and found them useful and I feel over time the new approach to bowling will improve to my good.

Great investment
When ever you buy a book containing psychology, you think to say "I knew that!", but this book pinpoints the essens of bowling psychology. I've focused on several things that for sure will make me a better bowler.

I purchased this book to help with my bowling, since as anovice bowler,
I was dismayed by my embarrassing performance when bowling with friends.
I would bowl a strike and then have a string of gutter balls.

I found this book really helpful, not just for bowling, but for achieving excellence
in other sports. I was able to apply the lessons to other challanging areas in my life.

The book gives a comphrehensive overview of this incredibly popular sport.The writers have laid out a step by step mental
plan of action that accounts for most contigencies and can used when someone has to psychologically prepare
onselfto perform at a high level.

The use of acronyms such as RALLY ( react, accept, learn, lean, yes )and the examples
of positive self talk particularly useful.

I think this is one of the most up to date and detailed bowling books to date.It dives into the mental game aspect of the game and just helps you with the skills that most bowlers will need to take their game to the next level.

The most comprehensive so far
A must read for anyone with an injured horse.This book will expose you
to the whole world of physical therapy treatments utilized by physical therapist,
sports medicine doctors, body workers, and others in the human world which
therapists like Mimi Porter are applying to equines. History of these treatments,
covering over two decades, validates their effectiveness bythe thousands of horses
successfully returned to pre-injured condition.It's important to note most of the
therapies discussed are not offered by standard veterinarian care.I particularly
like the incorporation for bodywork techniques, such as, cranialsacral and
myofascial release which offer more effective healing than traditional massage.
And ifyou wantan alternative to injecting your horse with medication there is an
excellent section covering iontophoresis.Even though it is not a protocol book,
and finding someone that is trained in many of these methods can be difficult,it's the

individual awareness and knowledge that will create a demand for much needed equine therapists. Well written with many excellent photos make this an enlightening and enjoyable read.

The New Equine Sports Therapy
I found Ms Porter's book to be indispensably useful regarding Equine Sports Therapy, and also interesting to read. Each chapter focuses on a major theraputic modality, and discusses its basic scientific theory, techniques for proper use, and pros and cons. Ms Porter's holistic approach to Equine Therapy was much appreciated. Throughout her book she supports the horse as an individual, and stresses that each plan of treatment must be centered on that horse's individual needs, rather than just based on a manufacture's recommendation.

I would recommend this book to any Equine Vet, Therapist or Care-giver. It's a valued addition to my library.
