1-0 out of 5 stars The book is out of date.
I originaly bought the book in 1997. Since then there have been tremendous changes in golf on the Internet. This book needs to be revised.

Some of the sites that the book shows aren't even online anymore.I would notrecommend the book any longer.

2-0 out of 5 stars May have been five stars two years ago but not in 1999
A lot of the web sites in the book no longer exist. In fact it seems like most of the ones that I find interesting no longer exist.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great reference book
I received this book as a gift, and really enjoyed it. I actually ended up reading it cover to cover, even though it is a reference book, just to see what is in here. There is some great information on different types of fishing all over the country, and in some foreign countries too. Also, there are sites on entymology, knots, and all kinds of miscellaneous but relevant information. Sure you could eventually find a lot of the sites yourself but it would take up a lot of time you could otherwise spend fishing! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection of Racing Links
I've been online for years and have followed racing for decades but not until I received this book did I every have any indication how many great racing sites there are on the Net. I really enjoy this book. It's perfect for anybody who loves any kind or racing.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for the web-savy racing fan!
If you already have a good collection of racing "favorites" in your browser, then this book may not be for you.Although I found a "few" sites I didn't know, most of the sites were either main sites racing enthusiasts already knew or were people's personal sites. I did like the Teenie Bikini site (of course!) but as a webmaster and web enthusiast, I found the book a little disappointing.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Off-Line Search Engine
They say a person spends one-third of their life sleeping. Since becoming a motorsports site webmaster, I have found that number to be quite high! Thanks to this Incredible book, however, I am able to spend less time messing with unforgiving search engines ... and closing back in on that one-third number! Thanks for including our site and thank you for creating this handy roadmap to the information superspeedway.

4-0 out of 5 stars As good as possible
Books of this nature are always limited by timeliness (sites come and go-- and change -- so quickly). The fifth star is only withheld because ofthat unavoidable limitation. This is as good and complete a guite to autoracing on the Web as I can imagine. I'm an auto racing nut who's beenonline for almost 20 years, and I found stuff I had never seen in thisbook. Kudos to the author.

5-0 out of 5 stars GOLDMINE for Racing Fans!

4-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding introduction to Web Radio!
The editor and staff did an outstanding job of compiling information aboutWeb Radio! The introduction provides an excellent outline of how Web Radiotechnology works and has one of the better articles on world time I've runacross. The station listings are very well balanced and include broadcastsfrom around the world. However, like most things about the Internet, WebRadio is a rapidly changing topic and some of the detailed information hasbecome dated since the book was published in April 1997 (hence the 4 starrating). I look forward to the next update! ... Read more

Product Description
"Concern for the health of our planet led award-winning actress Lisa Harrow and her husband, internationally renowned whale biologist Roger Payne, to create the performance piece Lessons from Copernicus. But Lisa and Roger found that, following performances of their show, audience members frequently wanted to know: What can I do to help? What can we all do to stop the destructive impact of our current way of life? What Can I Do? is Lisa-s response, a guidebook on how to take action. What Can I Do? initially accompanied performances of Lessons from Copernicus as a resource for audiences to take home. Its immediate success led Lisa to expand the guide for public and educational use.Now available to the general public, What Can I Do? is at once practical and charming. The book is written as ""An Alphabet for Living,"" providing readers with an extensive annotated list of Web sites where anyone can begin to explore the practices of sustainable living. Each site in the book has been selected for its wealth of information and links, and each serves as a valuable tool for finding fresh ways to view the world and live gently in it.A wonderful resource for both new and renewed interest in sustainable living, What Can I Do? makes a great gift. The advice inside covers a broad array of subjects: from stopping the junk mail in your mailbox to reaping the economic and social benefits of green business; from buying sustainably harvested seafood to donating and recycling your obsolete electronics; from finding local food producers to getting your town to turn garbage into soil-improving compost. 4-0 out of 5 stars Nothing much new
I was a little disappointed in this book, I thought it was a list of things to do.It was more like vague suggestions with web sites to check out.Several of the web sites were no longer working.I didn't find a lot of new information that I have not already read about. This is more of a beginners guide for going green.I would have gotten a lot more out of it several years ago.So if you are just starting to find options for going green, this is a book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saving the Earth does not get much easier than this
Most people want to do whatever they can to make the world a better place and protect the Earth. For them, marching in demonstrations or engaging in direct action is not an option. What to do? In subjects ranging from Air to Water to Food to Global Warming, this book lists many web sites with more information to get the reader involved in protecting the environment.

Perhaps the reader just wants to find out what sort of recycling facilities are in their town. One of their first stops should be to www.earth911.org. To look for reusable or biodegradable diapers, visit www.organicbebe.com. The Wildlife Conservation Society (www.wcs.org) has a very distinguished record in conserving endangered species. For those who have compost heaps, Starbucks will give you their coffee grounds. Details are at www.starbucks.com/aboutus/compost, or talk to your local manager.

A handy wallet card on produce and pesticides called "The Shopper's Guide to Pesticides" (bring it with you when shopping) is available from www.foodnews.org. A good site on global warming is www.climatestar.org. The Busy Person's Guide to Greener Living can be found at www.greenmatters.com. Do you have stuff you no longer need that someone else may want? Before that trip to the landfill, visit www.freecycle.org. Adopt a lobster (and help ensure a continued supply of lobsters) at www.lobsters.org, the Lobster Conservancy.

This is a wonderful book. It's small (it really can fit in your back pocket), it's well laid out, and the reader can pick their level of involvement. It is very highly recommended. Saving the environment does not get much easier than this.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful book!
This little book is simply amazing! It is a wealth of information, contacts and web sites regarding the environment and ways we can do our part to help. It is like the spark of desire, that hopefully, ignites the fire of action, encouraging us to seek out and "embrace a more environmentally friendly lifestyle". It is witty, informative and easy to navigate. A perfect gift and an exceptional manual for a meaningful life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful, Delightful, Hopeful
As is the list of environmental problems so overwhelming and the scale so global, so is the feeling that one person can't make a difference. And, even in the trying, the choices are so many and the information so contradictory, that it's hard to know where to start. Here, at last, is the logical successor to "50 Simple Things...," better, more evolved, and yet easier.A wealth of choices that can be tailored to match what you feel you CAN do now, what you MIGHT feel you can do later, and what you SHOULD be telling your friends-- in short, a compendium of answers on a scale that any of us can comprehend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Washington, DC loves it!
Whether you are young or old, rich or poor, environmentally challenged or conscious, teacher or student, computer savvy or not - you will like this book. It provides real-life resources and contacts, anecdotal examples and insight on how YOU, the reader, can easily help sustain Mother Earth.Great for students of all ages! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars don't waste your money!
This is nothing more than a cheap marketing "brochure" to try to pedal there companies so called "legal steroids". It's by a company called ASA Labs in Nevada. The first one third of the book are basically a fear campaign that constantly reminds the reader of the negative side effects of steroids but to a rediculously exagerated degree.Your junk WILL fall off and you WILL probably die if you take roids according to this book! They totally take advantage of the negative media frenzy about anabolic steroids thats been happening lately. The second third is another fear campaign warning of the harsh legal consequences of purchasing illegal steroids. It is obviously marketed toward young naive teens because it gets so outrageous. It actually suggests at one point that if you purchase steroids online the DEA will knock on you door and throw concussion grenades into your living room!! Thats how stupid this book is. The last third is dedicated to promoting there products as the only safe solution to aquiring steroids... BUT there is no such thing as lege steroids. If they were selling REAL steroids the DEA would be raiding this place so fast it would make there heads spin. Don't be fooled by this sham. This brochure/book is a complete joke!!! I returned mine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Aweful Book
This is not a good book. For one, the image is deceptive showing a spine that is thick enough to write the title on it which makes it look bigger than it is. The actual book is Staple bound pages folded in half and is not as big as it appears on the photo. The section I was most interested in "How to avoid the law and getting busted", does not at all explain how to purchase steroids without getting caught. It is only about half a page long (these are small pages and the print is not that small) and merely suggests to be aware of "How the US Drug Enforcement Administraion operates, and to familiarize yourself with illegal steroid laws." Than it describes the penalities and discusses the banning of steroids by the IOC.
