4-0 out of 5 stars another great pats book
i have bought several books on the new england patriots recent success.Jim Donaldsons is far above the rest.He tells the humurous stories of the teams past thru the eyes of former players. And the added chapters about the teams dynasty of this decade also adds to the book.I highly recommend it for any patriots fan

4-0 out of 5 stars Nostalgia for New England Patriots Fans

Stadium Stories: New England Patriots is a nice collection of stories culled from the history of the New England Patriots of the National Football League. It is not a comprehensive history of the franchise, nor is it intended to be, but simply a collection of interesting tales about the stadium, players, coaches, and owners of this colorful professional football team. The book is nicely organized by theme in roughly chronological order and reads at about the middle school level.

A brief chapter by chapter exploration of the contents of the book will give the reader an idea of what to expect:

No Place Like Home provides some good anecdotes about some of the crappy stadiums the Patriots have played in. It has some very comical stories in it. Look for the one about "The Big Flush."

A Different League talks about the Patriots' early years in the American Football League (prior to the AFL's merger with the National Football League) featuring players like Gino Cappelletti, Nick Buoniconti, Babe Parilli, and Jim Nance.

Bobby Sullivan is devoted to the Patriots founder and first owner. Not a wealthy man like many owners, the team was cash strapped through much of its early existence.

Remembering the `70s is my favorite chapter as that decade saw probably the most talented New England Patriots' teams that never made it over the hump to championship glory. That decade also saw the bulk of the careers of two of New England's NFL Hall of Famers, John Hannah (G) and Michael Haynes (CB).

1985-A Championship Year was a bittersweet chapter for me. That year the Patriots' went on a remarkable playoff run as a wild card team only to be demolished in the Super Bowl by the Chicago Bears 41-10. It was nice to hear that the players, despite losing, were glad to have been able to play in the big game.

The Patsies, what terrible times Patriots fans lived through in the late `80s and most of the `90s. Following the 1985 Super Bowl appearance the Patriots fell completely apart and were one of the worst teams in the league. This chapter is funny in parts and, appropriately enough, a bit tongue in check at times.

Owner and Number One Fan is about Bob Kraft, the team's current owner, and his turning the franchise into a winning organization.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow is about just that, some of the famous snow games in New England Patriots history. It does of course cover the infamous snow plow game (if you don't know the story, read the book!), the 2002 playoff win against Oakland in a blizzard and the "Tuck Rule," as well as other playoff successes in cold, wintry conditions.

The Coach. What coach? There's only one it could be about right? Bill Belichick from his bizarre resignation as "HC of the NYJ" to 3-time Super Bowl winner and proclamations from sports pundits that he's the best coach in the NFL.

Tom Terrific. Tom who? Tom Terrific, that is, the surprising rise of Tom Brady from a 6th round draft pick from Michigan to 3-time Super Bowl champion, 2-time Super Bowl MVP, and one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Dynasty, the final chapter, gives details about New England's 3 Super Bowl wins in 2002, 2004, and 2005, being the first professional football dynasty of the new millennium.

As noted earlier this book is nicely organized and reads at about the middle school or junior high school level. The chapters are very short, and include some box stories that illuminate a topic or provide some pertinent team statistics. As a result it is very fast, quick, entertaining reading.

The key drawback of the book is there really is nothing particularly new in the book for Patriots fans. All of these stories have been told elsewhere. But it is still fun to kick back for a few hours and read about your favorite team.

Overall I would recommend this book for New England Patriot's fans, simply for the fact it gives you a couple of hours of nostalgic reading pleasure, not for any specific insight or knowledge you'll gain about the team or the game. I suspect it would be a rather boring, non-productive few hours of reading for non-New England Patriots fans.

Note the author of the book, Jim Donaldson, has covered the Patriots for the Providence Journal since 1979. ... Read more

Built in 1971 for $35 million, Texas Stadium was an engineering marvel that generated curiousity because of its hole in the roof. It is now recognized as much a part of America's Team as the blue star on the Cowboys' silver helmets. With its use of luxury suites, the hole in the roof and the focus on the cheerleaders, Texas Stadium was ahead of its time, and it was made complete by housing one of the most successful NFL franchises. The 2008 season, however, will be the last for Texas Stadium as the Cowboys prepare to move into a new facility. Texas Stadium: America's Home Field, Reliving the Legends and the Legendary Moments, is a fun history lesson for Cowboys fans, as well as a bath of nostalgia for all lovers of America's Team. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Trenchant analysis of a troubling phenomenon
"Field of Schemes" is an accessible but no less incisive critique of an often overlooked aspect of the corporate welfare phenomenon: professional sports team owners and the seemingly insatiable lust for obtaining ever-more-lavish stadiums to be built at public expense. Sports fans Joanna Cagan and Neil deMause combine original and secondary research with interviews to successfully chronicle and analyse the public stadium building boom in an entertaining yet thought-provoking manner.

Cagan and deMause paint a picture of a playing field that is decidedly not even. Local communities are pitted in a struggle against powerful coalitions of wealthy sports moguls, politicos, real estate developers and other related businesspeople (which oftentimes includes the local media, since sports helps sells newspapers and TV advertising) over the allocation of increasingly scarce public tax revenues. The authors show that public education in particular seems to bear the brunt of the burden whenever the community loses the fight and sees its funds siphoned away to build these private sports palaces.

Cagan and deMause detail specific cases where owners have successfully blackmailed communities and strong-armed local politicians. These case studies reveal a formula that the authors term "the art of the steal", a step-by-step game plan for owners who plan to fleece their communities for free sports structures. Shamelessly exploiting the community's emotional attachments to the home team and ruthlessly working the good-ole-boy business networks to which local politicians are beholden are a few of the key ingredients that helps to make these schemes work, the authors claim.

Cagan and deMause interview individuals associated with a few of the grass-roots organizations that sprung up to oppose various stadium initiatives. While such groups often experience initial success, they are usually overwhelmed in the long run by the persistence of the powerful forces lined up against them. Citing numerous opinion polls and voter referendums where citizens strenuously opposed the use of tax dollars to fund privately-owned stadiums, the authors suggest that the reason owners win more often than not is due to the greater political power at their disposal, and not the democratic process.

Indeed, the cost to society as a whole is often great. In Chapter 8, "Bad Neigbors", Cagan and deMause brilliantly relate baseball's current preoccupation with the recreation of a mythic past (through the construction of "old time" ballparks such as Camden Yards in Baltimore) with the real decay of America's inner cities. The authors discover that many urban centers have actually been subjected to a corporate "structural adjustment" program akin to those experienced in many Third World nations. They contend that a core problem is a system of private enterprise that privileges the profit motive at the expense of ordinary people.

The authors wrap up the book by alluding to signs that the public stadium-building frenzy may be slowing down, but sadly this appears to be the case mainly because most cities large enough to support a sports franchise have already been tapped out. Fortunately, the authors propose common-sense ideas that, if legislated, could discourage some corporate welfare give-aways. For example, the authors wonder why recipients shouldn't be required to report the public subsidies they receive as taxable income? This would vastly diminish the value of such subsidies and encourage private financing for these deals, which is where the authors contend they rightly belong.

I strongly recommend this book for both sports fans and non-sports fans alike who may be pondering how our society's infatuation with sports fantasy may be harming the real world in which we live.

3-0 out of 5 stars Less than Comprehensive Perspective
The book is a must-read for any community considering investing in a private, for-profit sports facility. Nevertheless, it provides a less than comprehensive perspective. I would recommend reading the book along withMinor League Baseball and Local Economic Development for a wider view ofwhat communities might encounter when making this major, and occassionallyunnecessary, investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Whose money is it anyway?
If you thought you had to have a stadium and you had to pay for it, read this before you vote.Wonderfully documented and thouroughly researched. I knew we all were getting screwed but until I read this book I didn't knowhow bad it could hurt. A good primer on the language of stadium larceny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read this book before you vote on the next bond issue!
As a life-long resident of the Detroit area, I know this tale all toowell. It is one of lies, cheating, embezzlement, and ultimatelydisappointment.

Right now there are two huge holes in downtown Detroit. Any day now, we'll begin filling them with our tax dollars so they can failto end the years of decay this city has undergone. It's possible that ifanyone had cared to study the history of this practice, like deMause andCagan have, we could have avoided this whole mess.

Maybe another team cankeep its Tiger Stadium because of this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-researched & well-written; dirt on pols & media, too.
I like sports a lot and thought I wouldn't enjoy this book. Before reading Field of Schemes, I thought it would bore me with trivial facts and numbers and I thought corporate welfare to the sports industry was the least of America's worries.I was very wrong. The authors have exposed some of the deepest current urban conspiracies between newspaper owners, local politicians and real estate developers.

I know a lot about politics, economics, urban development and corporate welfare, but I was amazed at what I learned from Field of Schemes. And everything is irrefutably documented.

This is one of the last books the "powers that be" want people to read.Read it.Every concerned citizen or activist in the US needs to know what is in this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Labor of Love?
Hokie Games is an exhaustive look at every Virginia Tech football game from 1945 to 2006, compiled by Rich Tandler, someone whom I imagine loves Virginia Tech football very much. This is a reference book -- if you're looking for structure and flow, you're not going to find it here. This is simply a listing of Virginia Tech games followed by a description of what happened.

It's extremely broad and comprehensive, but unfortunately it's not very deep. If you're looking for in-depth statistics and information about a particular game, you're not going to find it here. What you'll find instead is a five (or so)-paragraph overview of the game with the major performers and plays in the game, as well as a final score. If you ever find yourself wondering, "What happened the last time Virginia Tech played Kentucky in football?" this is probably the book for you. Seasons are separated by listings giving the leading Virginia Tech statistical performers for that year, the head coach for the season, and various other statistics.

Unfortunately, it does have its downsides. It's not aesthetically pleasing -- understandable because it's a reference book -- but if I saw it on a shelf and didn't know what it was, I'd probably pass it up for being unremarkable looking. There's also no index, which makes it extremely difficult to find any particular game. A brief listing of important games is at the front of the book, but if you're looking for reviews of most of those games, chances are the information is on the Internet somewhere. For looking up the more esoteric games -- why I purchased the book -- I was forced to look up opponent records on Hokiesports.com, then flip through the book to find the correct season. The editing is also touch-and-go in places, and the layout leaves a little to be desired, but I haven't found a better reference book yet for minutiae about Virginia Tech football games. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Could've been great
Jay Weiner caught hold of an idea that has plagued Minnesota sports for almost 50 years: the fight for stadiums. Minneapolis/St. Paul just can't keep teams in their respective areas, and apparently build ugly, uninteresting stadiums for professional sports teams to play in.Jay Weiner could've made this book great, but he, like the city of Minneapolis, couldn't keep the fans coming back for more.He tends to drag along and introduces some irrelevant players in the games for Minnesota sports stadiums. There are some very good sequences, but he tends to build some of them up with mindless dribble. He did seem to have the inside track on all stadium related information, and used that to his advantage. He also kept someone not from the state of minnesota or a non-fan of the minneapolis sports scene interested in the teams. But, in the end, Mr. Weiner just can't keep me entertained. The story just doesn't get you excited to turn the page, and I tended to skip pages of useless information. I'm sure somebody out there would enjoy this book, but they would probably have to be a fairly bland person.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bloated and Pedantic.Editor needed!
This 500 page book could easily have been half as long, and twice as effective, with a good editor.Weiner is a newspaper reporter that obviously became drunk on the idea of not being held to time & length limitations as he usually is in the newspaper. He is very repetitive and it takes away from some of the very sound ideas that he proposes.Skim this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incisive and Entertaining Case Study
New York and most every major city has been through some sort of stadiumgame of late. But no state has such a rich history of sports hijinks asMinnesota. Weiner does both an entertaining and informative case study ofthat would be interesting and enlightening for any fan, reporter or electedofficial in any city that has a franchise or is trying to lure one. Weinershows that the games off the field are as fun to watch as the ones on.

Product Description
Now in paperback!

The Roman Colosseum was the work of a brilliant and energetic civilization. The Roman Colosseum was the work of a cruel and brutal civilization.

Both are true.

The Roman Colosseum was one of the most extraordinary buildings in the ancient world, a work of engineering genius whose design is imitated every time a modern stadium is built. Yet, what went on inside this building is difficult to comprehend.

Over the centuries, tens of thousands of slaves, prisoners of war, and criminals were slaughtered in the Colosseum for the entertainment of over 50,000 cheering fans. So many animals were destroyed in gruesome "hunts" staged in the arena that entire species disappeared from the Roman colonies of North Africa.

The Roman Colosseum interweaves the impressive story of the construction of this remarkable building and the sobering tale of the "games" that went on inside it. In doing so, it reveals an entire civilization in all its genius and its brutality.

Wonders of the World series

The winner of numerous awards, this series is renowned for Elizabeth Mann's ability to convey adventure and excitement while revealing technical information in engaging and easily understood language. The illustrations are lavishly realistic and accurate in detail but do not ignore the human element. Outstanding in the genre, these books are sure to bring even the most indifferent young reader into the worlds of history, geography, and architecture. ... Read more

Product Description
America is in the midst of a sports building boom. Professional sports teams are demanding and receiving fancy new playing facilities that are heavily subsidized by government. In many cases, the rationale given for these subsidies is that attracting or retaining a professional sports franchise--even a minor league baseball team or a major league pre-season training facility--more than pays for itself in increased tax revenues, local economic development, and job creation.

But are these claims true? To assess the case for subsidies, this book examines the economic impact of new stadiums and the presence of a sports franchise on the local economy. It first explores such general issues as the appropriate method for measuring economic benefits and costs, the source of the bargaining power of teams in obtaining subsidies from local government, the local politics of attracting and retaining teams, the relationship between sports and local employment, and the importance of stadium design in influencing the economic impact of a facility.

The second part of the book contains case studies of major league sports facilities in Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, San Francisco, and the Twin Cities, and of minor league stadiums and spring training facilities in baseball. The primary conclusions are: first, sports teams and facilities are not a source of local economic growth and employment; second, the magnitude of the net subsidy exceeds the financial benefit of a new stadium to a team; and, third, the most plausible reasons that cities are willing to subsidize sports teams are the intense popularity of sports among a substantial proportion of voters and businesses and the leverage that teams enjoy from the monopoly position of professional sports leagues. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good for research
I used this as the backbone of my senior paper in college. However, I found that the authors did quite a bit of stretching to say that "no impact could be found".My own research has concluded that stadia can not be evaluated in purely economic terms as they chose to do.

That said, this book is good for grounding readers in a number of case studies, and should provide a road map to stadium advocates as to the flaws in previous proposals.

Andrew Zimbalist is back with his newest book on the economics of sports, Sports, Jobs, and Taxes. After writing Baseball to Billions, the Smith College professor returns with this publication on the effects of buildingstadiums in major markets.Zimbalist co-edits the book with Roger G. Still, one comes away fully understanding what iscontinually stressed by Zimbalist and Noll.Sports facilities and theteams that play in them do not enhance local economies, do little for jobcreation, and never make up for the cost of higher taxes. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Series for adults now rewritten for teens
I have always enjoyed the adult series of Left Behind books. The kids books are just as good. The kids interact with the characters from the adult series, experience the same events, etc. However, since the main characters are teens, these books can appeal to younger readers. So far, the stories haven't had the ups and downs that the adult series has had.The adult series has books that are a lot more boring than others. The kids series seems to be good in every book. These are not for really young kids, but would be appropriate for young teens.I enjoy them and I am an adult.

5-0 out of 5 stars OK, but not the best

I read left behind terror in the stadium. The protaginist is Vicki, Judd, Mrs. Stein, Melinda, Dr. Ben Judah. God has made some of the people that dont belive in him. The people that do belive hold a meeting and Dr Ben Judah teaches them about god. Then the non beilivers start shootind the belivers. Vick maker Melinda belive in god. That was the good part.

4-0 out of 5 stars Terror in the Stadium
This book isn't one of the best of the Left Behind for Kids series, but it is still a pretty good book. Judd and Lionel convience Mr. Stien to take them to the meeting of the witnesses in Israel. While Judd, Lionel, and Mr.Stien fly to Israel, Vicki is trying to turn the old schoolhouse into a place where nonbelievers can learn about Jesus. When Judd, Lionel, and Mr. Stien finally reach Israel, they find it is hard to find a place to stay. They find a place and stay there till the meetings start. Carpathia says no one will be hurt during the meetings, but will he keep his promise? Like I said, this book is good, but it is not the best in the series of Left Behind for Kids books

2-0 out of 5 stars Intergalactic Games
Boy, how I used to enjoy some of the juveniles of Lee Correy and Milton Lesser when I was a kid! And they do have some virtues that may still appeal to young readers-- the gee-whiz scientific enthusiasm of Correy and the slam-bang action of Lesser. Some of the values that these authors champion-- individualism, courage, honesty, and sportsmanship-- are appropriate for youngsters even today.

But Correy and Lesser were writers whose novels had thin plots, cardboard characters, and a rough style of writing. And when the authors chose to do so, they had their characters sing "songs" that were some of the worst science fiction poems ever committed to paper. There is one such song in _Stadium Beyond the Stars_ (1960):

"_Oh, Sirius is far away, far away, far away!
We've journeyed to the Milky Way, Milky Way, Milky Way..._"

The basic idea behind _Stadium Beyond the Stars_ is actually a good one. What would happen if you held some Intergalactic Olympic Games on a planet near the center of the galaxy? And what would happen if some athletic ships made first contact with a nonhuman life form on the way to those games? Lesser has developed one futuristic sport in detail-- spacesuit racing. But all other sports mentioned are old ones such as swimming, wrestling, or the shot put. What other futuristic sports might there be? Space polo? Four-D chess? Free-fall soccer? What would an Olympic stadium of the future be like? How would conditions on other worlds such as different gravity or atmosphere have to be dealt with? What sort of rules and regulations must athletes of the future follow? We are never told. I wish that Lesser had fleshed out his background a bit more.

If you can, I recommend that you get the Winston hardback edition with the original, spectacular cover by Mel Hunter.

_Addendum_: Since writing the above review, I stumbled across a similar novel, A.M. Lightner's _The Space Olympics_ (1967). It is also a juvenile, with a similar plot in which the hero eventually uses his athletic skills to save the lives of others. Like Lesser's novel, the athletic events are essentially the same as those of today. A more imaginative treatment of future athletics may be found in Piers Anthony's Appretice Adept series of novels. ... Read more

Its a great giude for any body.It really helps you too.

1-0 out of 5 stars This books is a major disappointment!!!!!!
I bought this book thinking that it would be really good like the other Prima Pokemon guides. Their Silver/Gold guide is very comprehensive - with more information than the Nintendo guide. But this book is awful. The Ninentdo Version is so much better. If you want a good book for Pokemon Stadium get the Nintendo Guide book. They have full stats on all the Pokemon in the back including which HMs and TMs each Pokemon can use and their skills and their weaknesses. This book only tells you the the type of Pokemon and what it evolves to. My mom can tell you morea about Pokemon and she knows practically nothing. So don't waste your money! DONT BUY THIS BOOK. I am returning mine!

5-0 out of 5 stars There is a hidden advantage to buying these books....
My son was willing to"plod" thru these types of books when theywere waaaaay beyond his reading level in order to improve his game. Soeven though I can't say exactly how the book was I an say my son way morethan willing to increase his reading ability to master this book. How badcan that be?This book had a motivating effect on my sons ability toread... my opinion way that that was a good thing in my son's case. ... Product Description
Timed to be released at the start of 2008 spring training, Neil Sullivan's The Diamond in the Bronx chronicles the entire history of a stadium that has been home to the greatest dynasty in sports history, a stadium that will see its final Yankees game in 2008.
As Yankee Stadium is about to become a memory, an indelible part of the cultural history of baseball and of New York City, Neil Sullivan's The Diamond in the Bronx offers a fascinating account of its history and its position at the intersection of sports, business, government, and society, Sullivan tells how Yankee Stadium came to be built in 1923, at a time when the Bronx was a burgeoning borough that held middle class housing for immigrants as well as hunting lodges for wealthy Manhattanites, an era when small children could ride the subway, alone, to the ball game, and when many of the ballplayers themselves lived on the Grand Concourse. As the city and the Bronx changed, Yankeedom changed too, and the stadium is now surrounded by of parking lots, symbolic of the team's suburban fan base and the decline of the South Bronx. In recent years the team has threatened to leave New York City, prompting extravagant proposals for keeping it there, including a billion dollar new stadium in Manhattan to be financed with public money. The resulting stadium controversy tells us much about the public's changing views of government and the changing nature of professional sports.
For Yankee fans, baseball aficionados, and anyone interested in the increasingly vexed relationship between sports, business, and politics, The Diamond in the Bronx offers a wealth of detail, insight, and historical perspective. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Jazmin's Tricky Review
The Diamond in the Bronx is a verryy ticky book. It leads you to believe that it's all about the Yankee's and the stadium; the history behind it. When really it's ALLL about politics. The first couple chapters are interesting because they have history on how Dodger Walter O'Malley had his desire to build the Yankee stadium. The book then goes into detail on how the stadium affects the politics of New York. Making it complicated for race and wealth to be apart of the stadium, since the stadium was located in the Bronx; one of the boroughs that have more ethnic people rather than caucasians. It was also a question that if the stadium was taking money from "more important things" like transportation, and city neecessities. If you're more of a baseball, stadium fan, this book in not for you, however, if you are a politics fan, GET THIS BOOK!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Diamond in the Bronx: Yankee Stadium and the Politics of New York
Neil J. Sullivan does a good job explaining some of the politics and corrutption surrounding the building and keeping of Yankee Stadium in N.Y. Being a native New Yorker I can relate to some of these events. Being a scholar as well, their are some things that I disagree with and some things tend to be repeat themselves in his book. He does go off subject some and then tries to tie it all together. I thought the book was a very good read!

4-0 out of 5 stars Yankee Stadium AND the Politics of New York
This book was very interesting. I loved the way it recounted every detail in history about the stadium. It took you "behind the scenes" of New York's politicians and the stadium. It kept me interested. The whole time i felt like i was in New York in the 1920s, it gave me a whole new respect for baseball.

2-0 out of 5 stars To Much Politics
This book started off good, with the opening of the stadium and the first home run hit by Babe Ruth to christen the stadium. But after the first two chapters the book becomes to involved with the politics and the businessmen behind the stadium and its players. This book did not keep me entertained while I read it, and I found myself many times struggling to turn to the next page.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Diamond In The Bronx-Yankee Stadium and Politics of NY
If you are a baseball fan,Yankee fan or ballpark buff expecting to find a history of the Stadium and/or the events on the field, you'll find this book boooorrriiing. If,however, you are into politics with a little baseball history thrown in,then this book is for you.The Introduction sounds promising-Yankee owner Ruppert using his own money to build a new stadium as opposed to modern day owners looking for a handout.Weighing the importance of financing a stadium against the other needs of a city. And,does stadium subsidy take money from things like public safety, transportation, health care, etc?
The book itself starts on Opening Day 1923,describing the festivities and on field happenings. It quickly delves into politics of the era and ties between team owners and City Hall. There is a brief background on Babe Ruth and his influence on the game. There is a history of the early Highlanders,Hilltop Park and the Yanks stay in the Polo Grounds. Some mention of the Stadiums construction. Then,we're bought back to the late 19th century and a look at immigrants, including details of a dog fight. After a history of early 20th century Bronx,I started skimming through the pages. The mysterious Tammany Hall is of no interest to most baseball fans.Neither are Mayor Walkers escapades,Prohibition, the Depression,President Roosevelt or Mayor LaGuardia. There is a brief recap of each season. The next chapters cover the Stadiums sale in the 50's and the race issues in the Bronx {and Brooklyn}which factor into matters even today.
Thing get interesting {to me} in the 70's with discussions between the Yanks Mike Burke and NYC Mayor Lindsay regarding Stadium renovations. It seems that the Yankee Village concept actually began back then. The threat of the team moving to New Jersey was real {the NFL Giants moved} although the author does not feel the threat was as real regarding the Yankees. The last few chapters discuss the failed Steinbrenner-Mayor Koch lease extension negotiations, and the Mayor Giulianiani love-fest with the Yanks.A good amount of local columnists reactions are included, though there are too many from the high brow NY Times for my tastes. The photo section includes fourteen in all, seven of which I found interesting.
In fairness to Mr Sullivan,I enjoyed his earlier book,The Dodgers Move West, which detailed the political manuevering regarding the Brooklyn Dodgers and their attempts to get a new stadium built.Perhaps that book was better written because Mr Sullivan is a Dodger fan and the subject matter was more interesting to him.Except for brief passages, his Yankee Stadium book will leave most fans wishing they hadn't spent the money.I borrowed mine from the library, and noticed that it had been taken out about two dozen times, almost always for a period of two days.I feel that this is because most readers realized it is a political book disguised as a baseball book, and they quickly became turned off. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A must for RHCP bass fans
This book is a lot of fun. The CD's with the bass and guitar tracks separated from the rest of the music are a big help as well. The music itself is easy to read and the tabs help you find your way around the fingerboard.

I give the content 5 stars. 4 stars for the printing.

The song structure notation is not as clear as it could be. The print used for instructing how many times to play a verse or where to jump ahead to is very small.

5-0 out of 5 stars flea has some very good licks, amazing book!!!!
flea has really good licks in this book that could help you get better ideas on improve on stuff like funk/rock. i recomend this book to bass players that look to just jam out and have fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good!!
This is a great book! The included CD makes the package!

A perfect 5 stars!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Flea has huge hands...or mine are too small...
Every song is played straight through at normal speed and you can clearly hear every note. The tabs are great, but actualy reading the notation feels a lot easier to read. The only thing i would change is have single lick tracks or slowed down versions of songs along with the full length at speed tracks.this album isnt for beginners at all, but its not completly impossible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stadium Arcadium Bass Sheet Music
This is a great book!I've been playing bass for 3 years now and this is a really fun way to spend my free time. The cds are also a great addition; they really help out a lot if Flea's bass licks throw you for a loop. It's also just fun to play along with the CD's because they threw John in also. Also, if you can't read music, don't worry.Personally I'm a fan of reading actual music for many reasons, but if you haven't crossed that bridge in your bass playing career every song has tabs. This book is the ultimate hook up for any Red Hot Chili Pepper addicted Flea-loving bass fanatics! It rocks! ...
