Bible of Fluid petroleum engineers
working in a research institute specialized in oil industry, i find this book always a reference.. and though i have read it, studied it several times.. it keeps on capturing me and helping me. i highly recommend this book, it s amust have for a petroleum engineer.

Flowing through Petroleum Fluids...
This book is fairly well written, with examples that pertain to the exercises at the end of each chapter.It includes an appendix, well equipped with relevant graphs and charts.The only flaw would be that they tend to pull numbers out of nowhere in examples, without showing where they came from.Overall, this book was more effective than the professor who taught the class.A good buy for all little petroleum engineers. ... Excellent overview
I am an investment analyst and used this book to get up to speed on an unfamiliar industry.I found it to be clear, well organized, and containing all the info I needed to understand the dynamics driving the business and the lingo.There was more engineering and scientific info than I needed for my purposes, but it was useful to thumb through those chapters to get a high level understanding of the issues.Highly recommended for people new to the industry.

This subject enables much of modern civilisation. From producing fuel for transport, of course. But the entire plastics industry also depends on these refineries. So Gary explains to a reader who hopefully has had some exposure to chemistry, how this comes about.

The level of discussion is both at the molecular level of chemistry, but also at the engineering level of what this means in order to have an economically viable refinery. An undergraduate who is casting around, uncertain if she wants to major in chemical engineering, might be encouraged to read this book. Good book...lots of good examples
Book is good.I am a student at TTU (petroleum engineering) and found the book to have great programming examples.

Old reservoir engineering
I have read the book and found that it basically covers the state of the art of "classical" reservoir engineering of about the 60's or 70's, with some material taken from papers published in the 80's and 90's. It is outdated to a great extent.

The virtue of this book is that it reviews a wide range of topics like MBEs, IPRs, basic reservoir fluid properties, etc. Good for undergrads taking courses in reservoir engineering.

The statements at the back side of the cover (second edition) are misleading. This book does not contain "all of the information and insight a reservoir engineer must have to do the job right", nor is it "the complete resource for students and professionals in the petroleum industry". This book is only at the introductory level and there are many other books like Dake and Craft & Hawkins which cover almost the same topics with more detail.

If it is an extensive reference book what you are looking for, I would rather recommend the Petroleum Engineering Handbook. It is more comprehensive and can cost you about the same price or less (if you are an SPE member).

Great book to find all basic topics on reservoir engineering
I've seen that all topics on reservoir engineering have been covered in sufficient detail and very systematically.I strongly reccommed the book to those looking for a starting book on reservoir engineering and to those who, after a while, got lost among SPE papers and specialized books to come back to the backbone of the issue.
