The constitution talks about all sorts of things, like what our official languages are and what our individual rights are. The constitution works together with our system of laws to make up the rules of the country. The constitution also indicates what provinces are a part of Canada and what the powers of those provinces are. For example, provinces have jurisdiction over education and the environment. Territories on the other hand are created by Federal Law. That means the territories have a bit less power than the provinces. They still have representation in the federal government, but don't have provincial governments. The biggest difference is that the provinces get to vote on changes to the constitution but the territories do not. 1982 Are you sure!?

Canada is the largest country (i.e. in area) in the world. It is composed of ten provinces and three territories. It is bounded on the western edge by the Pacific Ocean, on the northern edge by the Arctic Ocean, on the eastern edge by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the southern edge by the United States of America (USA) . The edge running between countries is called a "border". In Canada, the country of the United States of America (U.S.A.) is either called "the States" (as in "We're going to the States for the weekend") or "the U.S." (as in "There's no public health care in the U.S."). If you want to enrage a Canadian then go ahead and refer to the States as "America". After all, Canada is in North America and so is Mexico A popular symbol of Canada is the mountie. This is a 6cr course which IN 2002 can be assembled from a number of components. There will be three components concentrating on lacustrine environments, fluvial processes on alluvial fans, and snow and ice stratigraphy and glacier mass balance. Each component will be a 3cr module and students may assemble their 6cr package. The marl lakes of the Kluane region are dominated by carbonate sedimentation produced in the water column as a result of CO2 exchange between the atmosphere and carbonate rich water. The high carbonate content in the lake water is due to groundwater input from glacial deposits with a high dolomite content. Objective is to investigate environmental change over the last 1200 years from an analysis of the sediments and macro-fossils in closed basin marl lakes. The 1200 year level is defined by the White River Volcanic Ash stratigraphic marker. Sediment core stratigraphy; carbonate content and crystal form, organic content; and loess content will be measured; and macro and micro fossils will be examined.
