He was also in the TV show "Satuday While Sunday" and in the movie THE LION IN WINTER. In 1968, director Albert R. Broccoli asked him take over the James Bond role after Sean Connery. But Dalton thought he was too young to play the role, so he declined. Afterwards, he appeared in the films WAR AT PEACE and many other films. He was doing FLASH GORDON which prevented his 2nd try at James Bond. But after his role in BRENDA STARR, Dalton found that Pierce Brosnan could not try out for Bond due to "Remington Steele." The producers asked Dalton again, gave him some screen tests, and gave him the part. Timothy Dalton took the role of James Bond seriously, having a bit of humor here and there, but he considered James Bond a man with danger lurking at every corner, not a fantasy role.
