While the going has been a little more tough, the end definitely justifies the means. Born in North Carolina on January 20th, 1970, Bryan Ray Ulrich was an awkward boy from day one. Skinny to the point of looking sickly, he did not exactly cut a striking figure. His parents divorced when he was three, and his mom moved with him and his older brother Geoff to Concord North Carolina, where she married D.K. Ulrich. Young Bryan was often sick with pneumonia, and had to have open-heart surgery when he was only 10 to correct a ventricle defect. As a result of his early problems, he often started feeling sick even when he was not - and played sick often as a defense mechanism. To put it bluntly - he was a sissy. That all changed when he discovered sports, baseball and soccer. It was his baseball coach who first dubbed him Skeeter, in reference to a small mosquito. He did some extra work in films like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and, catching the acting bug, he sought ought a teacher. The guy he found, the owner of a local deli and an erstwhile actor, wasn't exactly Lee Strasberg. Skeet tells a funny story about the guy giving him a book of facial expressions to study. Having mastered "happy", "scared", "angry" and "thoughtful", Ulrich changed his major over to theater.
