5-0 out of 5 stars beautiful!
Murray really helps you see God in such a reachable, intimate way through this daily devotional. I never knew what it meant to truly wait upon God...in holy reverence, patience, total trust, and joy, until reading this book. I can honestly say it made fall deeper in love, and brought me into a new dimension in my relationship with God. I've read it a few times, and still often refer back to it for encouragement and rejuvenation. Definite necessity for the Christian heart longing to go deeper and know God more intimately!

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Classic~~Waiting On God by Andrew Murray!
Someone gave me this book when I was 16. I read every page and could not put it down until I completed it. I have since then read almost every book written by Andrew Murray.
My favorite chapter is the chapter on how a mother eagle teaches her young to fly with the refrence in Deuteronomy.
~~A TRUE CLASSIC!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Enrich your prayer life and relationship with G-d/Jesus
Though this book is not labeled as a book on prayer, it definitely is. It does not teach you how to pray directly but leads you gentlyto an intimate relationship with G-d the Creator, the Father, and Jesus Christ Saviour, LORD and G-d. The first month I read it I had more questions than answers. The next month a little more light was shed. I have read it since March 2009 and It is now December of 2009. Each month it is new and fresh. To Wait on G-d is NOT a long line as depicted on the cover. THe artist did not read the book and understand it. Rather waiting on G-d is attending to Him and being restored to the Garden of Eden in the sense of humbly seeking G-d in every aspect of your life. The very habit of going to G-d to hear Him and let Him lead in the dance is restoration, peace, and transformation for the humble believer. I highly recommend this book. I have ordered sets of four to give to friends and they had the same reaction I did. If you are looking for a step by step guide to praying as someone dictates to you, then this is not the book for you. If you want to go to the deep intimate places of fellowship with G-d then this is indeed the book for you. If you cultivate this habit of continually waiting on G-d ( seeking Him, resting at His feet, trusting Him, refusing to be moved until he so directs, refusing to be sufficient in yourself without Him, then you will have a great peace and joy in His Presence. This book leads you to this good place of being in intimate communion with the One and Only Great and Good God Almighty and His son Jesus Christ, who is God of God and Light of Light.

5-0 out of 5 stars Resurrected Truth
This book is something all spiritually minded people should read, it will guide you into a living personal relationship with God, that will satisfy the craving of a soul that wants the reality of His presence rather than the warm fuzzy feelings, the shallow mediocre messages of today that call themselves deeper life, when the only depth is the cost.

5-0 out of 5 stars Focusing and Trusting God
Waiting On God is an excellent, tested by time book on the importance of waiting on God and trusting Him.Each thought is instructed and built on the scriptures of waiting on God.Even though the book is now written in devotional form, I encourage you to listen to the voice of God and wait on Him even as you read and study only to proceed as He instructs. There is so much to learn and love and glean from each sentence.Share this book! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless wisdom that can change your life with God.
Even though Andrew Murray left this world nearly 100 years ago, I still consider him one of my most contemporary teachers. His understanding of the Word and his intimate relationship with God enable him to guide others into the amazing truth of Christ.

The Path to Holiness is written as a daily devotional, however I often find the need to ponder the deep and life-changing truths for several days. Murray teaches that holiness is much more than living a "good life." Rather, holiness is a lifestyle filled with power, hope and security. He teaches how to accept the Father's invitation to us, "Be holy, as I am holy."

I highly recommend this book to anyone who seeks a life guided by God and His ways. The Path to Holiness is truly a guidebook for seekers. You will not be disappointed and thankful for the destination and the journey! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Every charismatic should read this
As one who has spent some 35 years in charismatic churches - both independent and Anglican - I would say that any charismatic of any denomination or none can save themselves a lot of heartache and confusion by reading this book.

It is written from a sympathetic viewpoint by well-educated and experienced charismatics, and it raises clearly a number of serious doctrinal and practical issues that have plagued the charismatic subculture for years, and offers some solutions.

Its style falls somewhere between popular and scholarly writing, so it isn't a light read, and the book isn't perfect: the chapter on demonology, for instance, makes a few good points but is rife with confused thinking and self-contradiction. But it is certainly a show-stopper in places.

I recommend it highly for charismatics. Nobody else will get much out of it, though. ... Read more

Product Description
A failed recon mission deep in the tunnels of Afghanistan has provoked a demonic onslaught that had been brewing for centuries. The mission's sole survivor is reformed black ops assassin Dylan Hatfield, and he once again teams up with Abby Sherman, now at the helm of the Watchers, an ancient spiritual force. Uncovering and preventing a secret wave of death whispered across cyberspace and threatening to be unleash against civilization will require another level of spiritual power and expertise--the Warriors.

Journeying across the Alps of Europe through the multilayered history of warfare in the unseen world, Dylan and Abby uncover an age-old stone engraving that rouses the church's Warriors to action, placing them dead center in one of the fiercest spiritual battles of their time!

And once again they are reminded: This is all part of a vast and perpetual war, a war beyond all human conflicts, one that has engulfed heaven and earth since before the dawn of history....

Abby Sherman is headed back to Israel, where a Watcher, the Sentinel of Jerusalem, lies dying. In her last breaths the old woman tells Abby of an ancient document prophesying humanity's full-scale entry into the ongoing conflict between armies of heaven and fallen angels.

Dylan Hatfield has decided to answer a summons from his old boss and join a secret operation, its mission to reconnoiter the Afghani tunnel complex from which Osama bin Laden escaped in 2001. What he discovers sears his very soul and likely will end his life.

Abby learns of the peril facing Dylan, and she sends out a call for intercession on his behalf. Her frantic email message sets in motion a series of harrowing events, propelling the two on a new mission and quest--one where the stakes are the lives of millions!

Packed with high-octane action, featuring exotic international locales, with characters in a clash against spiritual "principalities and powers" with eternal consequences, The Warriors is a story that will enthrall, enlighten, and engage its readers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Warrior
Very good and fast paced hard to put down. Gives a great continuation to the first book, the Watchman. It shows us how to fight without using a single weapon just prayer and how powerful it truly is. And it shows that there really is a war going on over us 24/7

5-0 out of 5 stars --
Dylan Hatfield is back in action, in a place he never thought he'd be--a stronghold of evil so powerful it can kill.Abby Sherman is summoned to Israel to receive the last words of a respected Watcher, only to be told to search for an ancient document that will help her call up Warriors. And all around them, a new terrorist threat bears down on the U.S. with a fury no one is sure they can stop.

From the vile evil of underground caverns in Afghanistan to the picturesque majesty of the Alps, The Warriors takes the reader on an adventure that will shoot tingles down his spine.Dylan and Abby travel the world over in search of this document, their peculiar sight into the supernatural world of angels and demons helping them along the way.Whenever danger strikes, they can see the evil forces behind it, as well as the angels standing guard over them--but with this new threat to their country, it's soon clear that seeing isn't enough. They need to act.

The Warriors is a sequel to The Watchers but easily stands on its own--I hadn't read the previous book but had no trouble following along this second story of Abby and Dylan (though now I'm dying to read their original story!).As someone who has always loved tales that include the supernatural, I was immediately caught up in this book.Olsen delves deep into the world just beyond our vision, mapping out possibilities that urged me to remember Paul's instruction to be in constant prayer.

Full of adventure, wonder, and hair-raising suspense, The Warriors is a story not to be missed by those who love supernatural thrillers. You'll be turning those pages quickly and not want to put them down until you turn the last one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Action packed
Reviewed by Carol Hoyer for Reader Views (11/08)

Mr. Olsen has certainly got a way with his characters and vivid descriptions of the lands. As former partners against evil, the main characters Abby and Dylan are in the thick of things again. Having been partnered before in the same fight, Abby and Dylan are both very goal-oriented, as well as being attracted to each other.

Dylan loves excitement and the more dangerous the better. He is in it again, against Abby's wishes. He accepts a top-secret mission to explore a tunnel where Bin Laden escaped in 2001. Abby goes to Jerusalem to see a dying watcher and receives news that a potential war been heaven's army and fallen angels might take place. She and Dylan plot how to stop the attack. One problem-- they didn't have much information.

The reader will be caught up in this action-packed novel; once you begin, it is hard to put down. However, my recommendation would be that readers read Olsen's first book "The Watchers"-- to gain a better understanding of what happens in "The Warriors."

3-0 out of 5 stars Great scenery and action, questionable warfare
The Warriors is the second in an informal series of novels by Mark Andrew Olsen. While marketed as novels that can be read individually, I'd recommend that readers first peruse The Watchers, the first novel. A stronger basis for understanding the world of spiritual warfare that Abby and Dylan operate within will reward the effort.

Violent physical attacks continue to replace spiritual defenses. The romantic tension between Abby and Dylan fails to rouse any believable feelings, excepting one moment that borders on genuine in the closing scenes. Without needlessly repeating myself, I will simply say that my concerns with the first novel are still present in the second. For further details please see my review of The Watchers. While Abby's father - Robert Sherman - was not a main character in the first novel (in fact I didn't mention him in my review), he has disappeared without a trace from the series. There are no mentions of him whatsoever, but it would have been interesting to see his newfound faith develop further.

Despite my ongoing concerns with some of the content, The Warriors proved to be even more compelling than it's predecessor. Olsen beautifully describes the lush scenery of various European locations as Abby and Dylan pursue their feverish goal. Olsen's integration of the history of persecuted European Christians such as the Waldensian people was a welcome and unexpected surprise.Their history was woven together with the geography during their ongoing search.

I was relieved to see Abby set to the side, relinquishing the stage and role of main character to Dylan. In this series Dylan has always been the stronger character, and in The Warriors he truly has a chance to shine. The final scenes are stirring; if I were to make a book trailer for this title I'd include some clips from them along with "What if His People Prayed" from Casting Crowns playing for soundtrack. There are truly some awe-inspiring moments to contrast the depictions of evil as the battle continues to rage.Oddly, each description of a demonic presence is foul and grotesque. In scripture we see Satan and his minions masquerading as angels of light in order to deceive. It would be wonderful if Olsen would integrate this as an interesting twist in upcoming novels.

Similar to The Watchers, readers are not treated to a lengthy, expository conclusion. After tying up a few loose ends it is made eminently clear that Olsen plans to pen additional installations for this series. While many readers are enthusiastic about these novels I won't be investigating future efforts in this series. It's not Olsen that I have issues with; I have enjoyed other books bearing his name. Rather, it's my own stubborn insistence that Christian fiction should be somewhat aligned with scripture on issues the Bible speaks to clearly.Mark, it's not you, it's me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Glimpse into the Supernatural
Wow! Mark did it again, only better. I love Abby Sherman and her determination to do what God tells her. She listens, trusts, and moves as she is led.

Mark quickly brought me into Abby's world with a sense of urgency.I followed her all over Europe to find the answer to save the United States from a bomb that could destroy the Eastern Coastline twenty miles inland.

Mark's first hand experience of the continent comes though Abby's six senses in a remarkable way. Although she is constantly moving at a fast pace, she takes fresh notice of the beauty of the land that she is traveling through.

Much of her time is spent with Dylan as they work together, interceding for others and a call to wake up long asleep warriors to fight together in their behalf. They come in the spirit from all over the world for prayer and it is comforting to the reader to know that God has warriors watching, waiting, and battling on the behalf of those who belong to Him.

There is no call to small that the Creator doesn't hear and heed on behalf of His people.

An interesting twist, Abby belongs to a group of people called by the Lord for specific work in the Kingdom of God. Her gifts go back many generations. Her mother is also gifted and supports Abby.

I enjoyed this book and found it entertaining and informative. Although it isn't necessary to read The Watchers, you would enjoy The Warriors even more having had some insight into Abby and the way she thinks.

If there were more than five stars to give these two books, well, I would! You won't be sorry, these are great reads.

In Murray’s classic devotional style, he shows the way to new freedom and power, beginning with the truth that "carnal Christianity" is not true Christianity. He clearly and convincingly presents the "one decisive step" that believers can take to move from the old life to the new life. Murray begins with the biblical command to be filled with the Spirit and ends with the assurance that "ye are the branches" and completely dependent on the Vine for life. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Godly revelation
I felt the author of this book to be a very humble man, with a strong message. He tells you the truth in a simple but factual way about how to come to absolute surrender to God almighty.

I have read and reread this book, cause it is a teaching book. When you read his insighful message, you will see that true surrender is so neccesary if we are to live in Gods perfect will.

He backs everything with scripture, so that you can see what he is teaching is truth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book Reveiw: Absolute Surrender
A short but fully packed book, Absolute Surrender first caught my attention with the illustration used of true surrender, as one uses a pencil. The pencil is totally surrender to the one who uses it, as the believer should be to his/her Lord.

This is one of my favorite books, perhaps because it provoked such thoughts of what true surrender is in the life of the Christian.Should you ever find yourself driven to know the truth about the surrendered life, select this book and encounter the concepts within.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Surrender is Much Needed
This book changed my life and my walk with Christ. We are commanded in Scripture to "be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). This is not a one-time filling that occurs at salvation but an ongoing pursuit for every Christian. While a believer is justified through faith in the vicarious substitution of Christ's death in our place on the cross, we are still living in sin-prone, fallen bodies (God's treasure in jars of clay). It is very easy to let the flesh take control and get out of step with the Spirit, living lives of disobedience and selfishness. This book looks at the issue of being filled with the Spirit from many different perspectives, showing how easy it is to quench and grieve God's Holy Spirit. Andrew Murray very cogently exhorts us to keep first things first: God's sovereignty and transforming power that makes a victorious life possible. Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone!). ... THE NEW LIFE provides inspiration and guidance for the new Christian, offering valuable insights for converts to the Christian faith and those who pastor and teach them. Andrew Murray gives short but in-depth studies on six main topics: the Word of God as the glorious and sure guide; the Son, the gift of the Father, to do all for us; what the Scriptures teach concerning sin; faith, which teaches us that all our salvation must be received every day of our life as a gift from above; the Holy Spirit; and the Holy Life of obedience and of fruitfulness in which the Spirit teaches us to walk. Pastor Murray's text is packed with scripture references for further study and teaches by example how to meditate on scripture. You can use the book both as an individual and as part of a group. 5-0 out of 5 stars A. Murray is always worth reading!
Over the years Andrew Murray's books have always been both instructional and inspirational. This one is no exception. If someone in your life is in need of healing, please give this book to them or read it to them.

5-0 out of 5 stars a very good accurate view of the Bible's teaching on healing
This book is a very good accurate view of the Bible's teaching on healing, one of the best writings on the subject I have ever read. If you are ready it can help straighten out your misunderstandings that block the way to health from God but if you looking for some easy quick fix you'll probably be disappointed. True sometimes you can get a pretty quick and easy answer to prayer for healing but that is usually not the norm and usually it's for something minor, a headache, flu, cold, sprained ankle etc.. These things many times can take a pretty intense wrestling with the powers of darkness, something most Christians seem to know little about or have little stomach for.

Understanding faith and the healing that was accomplished for ever believer on Calvary is not something achieved through mere prayer and intellectual investigation it is something that comes through real humility, perseverance and Divine illumination.I really believe most Christians seem to know so little of the Spirit's illumination, we are so use to trying to understand the things of God with our mind alone that we do not realizing we are blocking God's light which comes through the spirit (Pro 3:5,6ICor 2:14,15). We are too unbroken, reading Watchman Nee's "Release of the Spirit" might help to understand something of this.

I heard some readings from the life of Andrew Murray and his journey into finding out about Divine healing I think 97% of today's believers would have given up. It was quite difficult for him and it took a lot of patience to understand how God works in this area, this is the experience of many who have had success in finding God's supernatural healing. Extremely valuable things don't come cheap. The church being behind for so many centuries in this area is another thing that hinders the way for all of us, we've had few people who can do a good job of instructing us about God's healing power and what faith and trusting God's in promises is really like. Much of what Christians think they know about these things is just almost always very misguided, shallow or down right fake.

There are many temptations and subtle lies from Satan, many don't understand they are deceived by them. The Devil puts up an intense fight over this subjecthe enjoys watching Christians suffer more than anything,he hates them with a cruel and vicious hateand sickness is nothing but a curse and a work of pure hate. The Devil's diseases are a cherished tool he uses to rob and hinder the church of much usefulness in this world. The testimony that our God is the one and only real God is blocked as Christian's experience of sickness with no deliverance is usually not really any different than any other atheist or unbeliever's experience of sickness. So the world misses many opportunities to see a real God, it is just the same old theoretical powerless God in the sky that many believe in.

Of course many Christians are so use to self deception they haven't the slightest idea they are under its influence. So most of the time they will cover up for this embarrassment of having a do nothing, powerless God by trying to rationalize, excuse and substitute half truths with testimonies along these lines :" Yes I am very sick but God gives me courage and cheerfulness to endure and this is a testimony to the world of what Christ can do for someone".

Satan almost always seems to easily deceive and whip most Christians so they give up and adopt some pacifying deceptive excuse to explain why their God doesn't seem real when they need Him to heal them, when He promises to be their Healer and heal all their diseases, Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil etc... The promises of God's get explained away as not meaning what they really mean, or that was just for the Jews and not the Church etc.. Hence Christians come up with many bizarre theories and rationalizations to defend themselves with.

Faith is knowing you have something you can't see but most want to have something they can see before they believe they have it and this will never work, without faith it is impossible to please Him.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best!
One of the best books ever written on the subject of divine healing, by one of the best authors ever! As with all books by A. Murray, the spotlight is on "sanctification" of the people of God in this book. Why do you want to be healed? What are you going to do with your healing? Be ready to have the Lord probe into your heart. Recently retitled "Healing Secrets."

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Reading From Andrew Murray
This book has been Murray's most debated book. While evangelicals love his books on prayer and surrender, few have taken time to read his book on divine healing of which Murray came to believe in after being healed himself. While it is true that Murray somewhat retracted from his views that he wrote in this book, he never denied that healing is needed in the Church nor that we should not obey James 5:13-16 and pray for the sick.

The book is written in short chapters so you can use this book to read for your devotions along with your Bible.Murray takes portions of Scriptures that focus on healing and expounds on them. While the chapters are short, the message is full of meat (Hebrews 5:14).

Overall I recommend this book for those wanting to study divine healing or deepen their faith in praying for the sick.No matter what your view of the manifestation gifts of 1 Corinthians 12, we all believe that the Lord God can do whatever He wants (John 14:12-14) and we should pray in faith for the sick (Mark 11:22-24) even if the person is not healed now.We should trust that God is sovereign and He does heal for His own glory and honor.

5-0 out of 5 stars To Obey is Better Than Sacrifice.
Pastor Murray writes with conviction how the believer's position in Christ is marked out by the obedience to God. This is the one and only sacrifice that is acceptable to God. This obedience can only be accomplished, and, hence, can only be acceptable as the believer abides in Christ. He shows. through scriptures and illustrations, how that obedience is the natural outcome of our relationship to Jesus Christ. Spending time in the Word of G-d, and in communion through prayer is the great secret of the believer's ability to walk in obedience to God. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hasten to the call on your heart
I love this book! Picking it up every morning, and reading what the Lord had to say to me--His beloved--was beyond enjoyable and refreshing. Each entry is formatted like a love letter written to the reader from God. It is scripturally accurate and beautifully written. With poetic language, Make Haste My Beloved romances the reader's heart. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to fall more deeply in love with the Lord.

5-0 out of 5 stars Concrete instruction to take your prayer deeper - in Christ
If you want to grow deeper in your fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ read this book.Andrew Murray will give you insights and tools that will really help you to truly receive, and use, the gifts imparted to you by the Holy Spirit if you are born again!

5-0 out of 5 stars To Pray in His Name is to Pray as He Prayed
Particularly when I read classic works, that are typically so dense, so rich, I look for some excerpt in the book that summarizes the entire work. This book, Andrew Murray's, The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer is perhaps best summarized by the following (pp. 106-107, emphasis added):

"Christ's life and work, His suffering and death, were founded on prayer--total dependence upon God the Father, trust in God, receiving from God, and surrendering to God.YOUR REDEMPTION IS BROUGHT INTO BEING BY PRAYER AND INTERCESSION.The life He lived for you and the life He lives in you is a life that delights to wait on God and receive from Him.To pray in His name is to pray as He prayed.Christ is our example because He is our Head, our Savior, and our Life.In virtue of His deity and of His Spirit, He can live in us.We can pray in His name because we abide in Him and He abides in us."

From the first chapter on "The Lack of Prayer," to the fifteenth chapter on "The Coming Revival," the author guides the reader into a full scope of what the scriptures have to say about intercessory prayer and the call upon every believer to intercede in prayer, including importune prayer, for the saints and others, in order to bring the blessings of God to the people.

The last fifty-five pages of the book are devoted to "Pray Without Ceasing: A Thirty-One-Day Course," and it is laid out so nicely, with each day covering, "What to Pray," "How to Pray," and "Your Own Prayer Requests." Just two examples are:

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN
What to Pray--That God's People May Realize Their Calling
How to Pray--As One Who Has Accepted for Himself What He Asks for Others

DAY TWENTY-NINE
What to Pray--For the Spirit of Intercession
How to Pray--Abiding in Christ

The author elaborates further on each section. This is a course I plan to start immediately. As the Holy Spirit has called me into a season of prayer and fasting (in part about my own ministry and calling to intercessory prayer) the timing is right.

Reading this book has been well worth my time, and I do see it as a resource to be consulted over and over.Andrew Murray's Waiting on God is a helpful and enlightening complement to this book.

Another excellent book on intercessory prayer is Juanita Bynum's, The Threshing Floor: How to Know Without a Doubt that God Hears Your Every Prayer.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ministry Of Intercession by Andrew Murray
This is a must own for those involved in intercessary prayer. I have read at least 5 books on this subject and still refer back to this one from time to time. It never expires with time or changes. Prayer groups would be strongly advised to make this book a must read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for All Parents Who Love God
I am a mother and sixty-one years old and this book breaks my heart...Oh, that I had read it forty years ago...I now read it and pray the "consecrated prayers" for my grandchildren..AND over my now grown daughters...the promises of God for parents and their children absolutely come alive for the present day.Andrew Murray shows through this book how little we are tapping in on all God has for us in this area. We are wasting so much by not truly understanding how to "raise our children to love God."Through the teaching of this book, my faith has skyrocketed in this area.Sadly, it is no longer in print...and I am searching for many copies to give to everyone I know... ... Product Description
The modern-day Hadassah, introduced to readers in the previous novel, is the wife of Israel’s Prime Minister, with all its reflected power but also its isolation. The inner pain she feels as her beloved land and people are terrorized by political strife and bombings is made even more personal as her own father comes under attack. And then she learns of information that could have tragic repercussions on Jews living in Iraq, where Queen Esther had laid her own life on the line to save her people. The successor to Xerxes has no love for the Jews, and when he discovers the Star of David medallion on Leah (the young queen’s candidate Esther wrote to in Hadassah), he is outraged. Leah is delegated to the "rejected" category, virtually a prisoner for life in the king’s palace, with no hope and no future. Will Queen Esther and Mordecai be able to rescue Leah from the "ash heap" of Persian royal tradition? And even if they can, will Leah ever be able to truly love someone after all she has been through? ... Read more

I love Tommy Tenney. His book The Road Home is absolutely amazing and One Night With the King was good also. I was very dissappinted by this book. Other than the letters from Esther, this book was lacking in any creativity or interesting storyline.

I am thrilled that Tommy Tenny wrote The Hadassah Covenant.I enjoyed reading
Hadassah and I wanted more. I wanted to know what happened to Hadassah (Esther) after she left her position as Queen, what was

do not know what misfortune could befall the people of that time period. I am so glad you wrote this book.Thank you Tommy. ... Read more

It was in the year of 1885 that the railroad was put through the particular corner of Missouri that marks the scene where the events of this narrative took place. With the coming of the railroad, there came an influx of new settlers, who were of various nationalities and conditions in life. There were Swedes from Malmo, Germans from Dresden, and Irishmen from Tyrone, all bent on founding a new home in the new country. Besides these, there were Americans of many kinds and inclinations. All of these settlers brought with them the particular brands of religion in which they had been brought up. The Swedes and Germans were Lutherans, but each nationality was of a different synod and had little agreement or fellowship. ... Read more
