Product Description

Jennifer Aniston may be adored by fans equally for the dignity she's displayed in her very public personal life as she is for the performances that have made her an Emmy and Golden Globe–winning actress. Born into a family of actors, Jennifer grew up surrounded by the entertainment world on which she would eventually make her mark, but as explored in this biography, she had her share of childhood ups and downs. Every aspect of her career is considered—her early career, a challenge that she was about to give up for good, and the huge development that made her struggles worthwhile, landing the part that was to change her life forever—Rachel Green on Friends. The story of her next several years is fascinating, as she shot almost instantly to worldwide fame, remaining in the series for 10 years, and during this time established a high-profile relationship with Brad Pitt—seemingly perfect, and the envy of millions. As she left the stability of her series and transitioned to film, her marriage crumbled in one of the most publicized Hollywood scandals of recent years. However, the last chapters in Aniston's story so far tell of an actress showing the world her strength, bouncing back from heartbreak, and moving on to new relationships and bigger and better films. A close-up look at a much-loved survivor and superstar, this is a must-read for any fan.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in her
I'm a big fan of Friends, still tap into them once in a while, and had been a fan of all the cast. I actually stopped reading this book as the "Rachel hair thing" was mentioned. By that stage there were enough quotes from Ms Aniston to give me the impression she seemed pretty ungrateful to her fans for where she was. There didn't seem to be anything positive coming out of her mouth - though plenty of the f-word. Classy.

Sorry if I didn't give the book a chance, but it put me off her and I sort of think if that's what she said in public (if it's true of course) then you just end up wondering what she said in private.

At a reported $35,000 an episode it's a shame she couldn't have taken it on the chin a little more and I won't be paying any money to see any of her movies anymore.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting...but not enough
This book is well written and provides plenty of information about Jennifer Anniston's life, both professionally and personally. However, the attempt to portray Jennifer Anniston as an innocent victim is more than obvious and may i also add - annoying. Everything bad that has happened to her is blamed on her bad childhood and on people not being understanding enough towards her.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book on Jen!
This is a great book on Jen. Well-written and filled with plenty of color photos! Definitely highly recommended for Jen fans. You will be very satisfied.

3-0 out of 5 stars ehh
I read her mother's biography which was reiterated in the first many chapters of this book.It was somewhat entertaining, but not profound or too revealing.I ended the book with a sour taste for Ms. J. Aniston. She seems to lack a bit of class and loves the "f" word!It seems like she has grown immensely from her split with Pitt, but her growth was warped by such sudden fame.I think in many ways, she still seems lost. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good even if you are a cook!
I come from a long line of Italian cooks-and I am a good cook, even have the fluffy hubby to prove it. ;) Yes, the recipes are simple-but they taste good and get you thinking outside of the box. This isn't just for people who don't cook much. I think a lot of people can benefit from learning new ways to spice classic foods. It would have been better in cookbook form, but that's okay. I love the simple dressing recipes and especially the favorite soup recipe. Of course I have changed the recipes up a bit, as a real cook would do. Especially a cook in a small town where lentils aren't easily found. Use these as a springboard for a healthy lifestyle and adapt them to your family. I am always looking for healthy with a twist, and I am using this book, so it was money well spent.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book, only one thing missing.........
I was so excited to recieve this cookbook. The book is great .Lots of beautiful pics that will make your mouth water! My only disappointment was that there is no serving sizes or calorie content for any of the dishes.I have recently been working hard on losing weight and trying to get my family to eat HEALTHY.Though this does fit the bill for healthy eating, I am alittle nervous to make the dishes without knowing the calorie or fat content.I sent a email to them in request to information in regards to this, a few weeks ago, and still have not recieved a reply back. That disappointed me too.So, if you just want a good cookbook for healthy eating, this one works. But if you are concened with going over a certain calorie goal, you will not find that kind of information in this book.Hope this helps.

2-0 out of 5 stars I don't get it
I'm glad I got this book from the library first - I suggest you do the same. I paged through this cookbook two different times and the only recipes that caught my eye were for salad dressings. I have other healthy cookbooks and this one offered nothing noteworthy to me. I was surprised to find such basic recipes asmashed yams and quesadillas. Maybe it would be helpful for a beginner. The one plus - there are plenty of nice pictures.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!
I love this book, the recipes are easy to follow and the pictures are gorgeous. I've already made the celery soup and the salmon with maitake mushrooms and turned out delicious!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply well written and with lots of information
I just bought this book yesterday and I read it today cover to cover. Love the pictures, and source section.I like that the recipes were kept simple and w/o too many instructions. The average cook can figure out how to put things together with out condescending instructions.

Love love the book, I flagged the book marking recipes I cannot wait to try, like the Quinoa, red cabbage and picked onions. Good job girls ... Read more

Product Description
Engagingly written as a journal of fond memories, life experiences, lessons learned, and tragedies overcome, this is the story of the family that gave the world actress Jennifer Aniston. Written by her mother, Nancy Aniston, this tender, poetic, and charming memoir represents a healing exercise, and most importantly serves as an example of how to cope with and understand estrangement between parent and child. During the meteoric rise of Jennifer's popularity on the hit television comedy 'Friends', Nancy and her daughter had a misunderstanding imposed on them by a tabloid TV report. In the three years since they last spoke, Nancy learned that separation from grown children is a national epidemic and that scores of parents suffer the same feelings of pain, guilt, and shame. This knowledge inspired Nancy Aniston to record family memories in this compelling volume, 'and in the process of detailed retrospection a miraculous healing took place'. Nancy chronicles her own childhood of poverty, abandonment, failed marriages, and the difficult early years as a single mother. She recalls Jennifer's early love for the theatre, the therapists, career managers, and hangers-on who endangered family bonds as she guided her daughter through the exciting, sometimes disappointing, stages of an acting career that came to realise phenomenal success. While refusing the lure of celebrity gossip, Nancy Aniston strives to secure her story's inherent dignity, hoping it will be helpful to those trying to overcome their own childhood trauma, fallout from divorce, single-parenting issues, and the 'dark hole of child/parent estrangement'. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Like Mother Like Daughter
When it is all said and done and you listen to the babble of Jennifer about her "saving lives" by being in Friends. "Cancer patients crying in her arms with gratitude", you see the basic similarities here. They are both sad. Money and talent cannot buy class. The way she publicized her divorce and man trouble and flaunted relationships ) all the while whining out, "WHY ARE PEOPLE SO INTO ALL OF THIS? GET OVER IT!" when she clearly cannot get over it herself is EXACTLY like the Mother in this book. Her protests are her attempt to cover up her pettiness.
So sad, so needy both of them.

4-0 out of 5 stars If We Could All Be As Perfect as Jennifer
Bottom line of this book is how can any celebrity treat their mother like dirt and not have anything to do with her for 9 years just over one stupid TV interview.I guess Jennifer does not have a forgiving bone in her body. She dumped her own mother and began clinging to Courtney Cox as her surrogate mother. If anything, Jennifer is the needy, whiney and insecure and selfish person here - not Nancy Aniston.Nancy has gone through horrifying things in her life and did not have a nervous breakdown and was able to care for and nuture Jennifer and what did Nancy get for that?A big, fat kick in the rear.Children are not perfect and neither are their mothers.Talk to each other and work things out is what you do.There are too many children who are treating their parents this way nowadays. Why?Because they don't want to be bothered - they don't want to spend time with them as they are too busy with their own lives and family. It is sickening.Family values have gone out the window.I think Nancy wrote a true and honest heartfelt account of her life which does include Jennifer whether Jennifer likes it or not.Nancy has every right to write a book if she wanted to.Everything is not all about Jennifer. What?Jennifer becomes a movie and TV star so her whole family has to stop existing and speaking?
Pa-leeze...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for stay at home moms
i think this is a great warning to women who give their whole life away to their husbands and leave nothing for themselves.
I feel bad that Jen's mom would reveal too many intimite details of her life. Nancy shouldn't have revealed as much as she did and I get the impression that she hid a lot of facts
from us. I feel for Jen and I like her even more now because of the book. Her mom did a good job of portraying jen in a good light and i do hope they can reconcile. I've heard that they have. I also hope that Jen can help her mom financially, since it is hard to be a full time mom and that rat ex of hers left her with hardly anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir
Nancy Aniston is a very bitter woman. Her memoir is written with such condescension about her family and friends that one wonders if her psycho bable camaflages her self centered personality. It is clear she is jealous of her daughter's celebrity status and wants the world to know how responsible she was for Jennifers talent, only to be rejecterd by Jennifer in favor of hangers on and Jonnie come- late-lies. (lies?, that's interesting how that spilled out.)) The memoir is revenge against Jenifer, and is ugly and in bad taste.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bleeding Heart
This is one of the most trite books I have ever picked up to read. The entire story is that of a desperate woman trying to understand why her famous daughter no longer desires a relationship with her...well it is obvious! She sold her out once during a television interview and in her attempt to rekindle the relationship she sold her out again by writing this trashy novel.
Throughout the book she attempts to appear deep, when really her writing comes off worse than a beginning writing course at a community college.
This book is a serious waste of time and money, and frankly if I were Jennifer Aniston I wouldn't bother with a mother like that either. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Why this? Over simplifed, Expensive, and Not Needed
This is only 64 pages long and is "library bound"; that is to say, tha construction is sturdy enough for childrens' sections of public libraries intended for lending to kiddies, who are just as likely to beat their little siblings or their teddy bears with it as read it without it disintegrating. Twenty six dollars US and one finds multiple offerings on abebooks from English and French booksellers for a comparable price.

However if you are going to produce physical books appropriate for toddlers then the contents should be equally appropriate for toddlers. So the level of understanding of the intended audience ahould be behaviorly exemplary as well. That is where this sort of product falls short on the usefulness scale. Since the level of writing is labled as being for ages 4 to 8, one wonders why the entangled life styles of many celebrities would be considered fit for young children to read about, let alone emulate. The sturdy physical form of books found in children's sections should include age-appropriate content.

This means that the contents shouls be appropriate for young minds. TV in recent years has become coarser in its use of language but that is no reason for kiddies to be encouraged to use the ancient Anglo Saxon terms for various personal activites whixh we all know but onxw were discouraged from using in "polite society". Just lke we did, the kiddies will use those words anyway. :O The content should be of some interest to youngsters. But the tales of celebrity couplings and other activitie must be so bowlderizwd for this age level that there would be nothing pertinent sbout personal life. Daytime TV features pre-school learning in the forenoon and fornication, adultery, and other socially undesirable activties in the after noon!!

In any case, while post-pubescent teens and adults may understand and avidly follow the ins and outs of celebrity couplings, those sorts of activity are hardly to be emulated by children. Fornication, adultery, and mayhem were not covered in "Chidren's Activites" magazine that I read when I was a child. Celbrities' promiscuous life styles are inappropriate for kiddies. On the other hand, consenting adults should do what they like if it is not personally harmful or socially disruptive.

The "family values" ranters do have here a relevant point of no little consequence; many celebrities' private lives are hardly examplary except in a negative way. Not to be emulated. For every long term marriage such as that of Paul Newmn and Joanne Woodward there are dozens of promiscuous players and serial marriagers.

The "Hollywood Life Style" is nothing to be held up as a social model. But the motion picture industry has recently tried to sort out its audiences, and TV has the rather ineffective lableling system. But the latter goes down the tubes when such gruesome and brutalseries such as Third Watch, and scary and sexually rampant series originally aired in prime time such as Buffy and Angel are syndicated and strip run during the daylight hours when the kids are home from scchool. Movies and TV are full of tales of the high life and low life. Nothing new; from the days of Fatty Arbuckle through Errol Flynn (Who titled his memoirs "My Wicked Wicked Ways")to the presnnt. The coommon catch-pharase oft heard during WW II, "in like Flynn" was a reference to his notorious talents as a swordsman in both senses. ;0.

Not that it is only celebrities in the entertainment business who are now or have been notorious; there are enough corrupt politicians, straying priests and evangelists, crooked businessmen, hopped up and artificially enhances athletes, and brutal gangsters whose storiess could fill books. (The famous Babe Ruth was a well-known drunk and carouser. Just one historical example.)

Snd then there have been famous bi-sexuals, homosexuals, and lesbians both in and out of the closet from olden times to today. Whitman ( the poet for whom nany schools are named) Hoover, Hudson, and many others come to mi
I do not intend to condemn their way of life; I think any non-harmful activity that consnting adults participate in are fine so long as they don't bother anyone else. The nineteenth century saw, "Do what you want, just don't do it in the street and scare the horses!" is still relevent. But we should not set the doers up as examples for living, and especially to pre-adolescents who have not yet reached he "Age of Reason" as defined by many faiths.

Nor are these comments meant as personal criticicism of clebrities' private activities. I follow the press on actresses, singers and others in publications ranging from Vanity Fair to US. The significant word is private. Who needs to know who does what whan and where with whom?

The paparazzi press is full of irrelevancy.(I stop there; no Weekly World News or Enquirer for me!)) I follow Jennifer's because I enjoy her acting ability in varous film roles, not just Friends. But what social uses have the details of her personal life. And this is not criticism of such trivial but responsible magazines as US. It's coverage is restrained compared with some. I subscrible to Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, EW, snd give a reward for sticking to the professional work for the most part to EW and the new incarnation of TV GUIDE.

Even so, one wonders why some excellent actors get excessively dtailed personal coverage in the "celemags" and some of equat talent don't. For example the adept Reese Witherspoon who leads a stable married life while yet the multi-tletned Ashley Judd in recent years has for the most part sppeared in the fashion press, and is ignored by the paparzzi.

So, the conclusion is that if you are going to publish books in a sturdy form approprate to children's sections then the content should also be appropriate for children. Leave adult subjects to the post-adolescent and adult markets. ... Read more

Product Description
Loukoumi, the fluffy, cuddly lamb, returns this Fall with Loukoumi s Gift, the fourth title in the award winning series of illustrated books by Nick Katsoris for children 4-8. Featuring a bonus download of the story narrated by Jennifer Aniston and Days of Our Lives star John Aniston, the new book follows Loukoumi through her day as she discovers that the perfect gift need not cost a lot of money, but instead can come straight from the heart. (The CD Narration is available as a free download on the website Loukoumi.com as well as on the companion CD of the related book, Loukoumi's Good Deeds). Loukoumi s Gift, by Nick Katsoris, will be released on National Make A Difference Day, on which over 200 bookstores nationwide will host Loukoumi s Gift Storytimes. The book follows in the footsteps of the critically acclaimed book, Loukoumi s Good Deeds, released in April 2009, which is also narrated by the Anistons. The book continues the adventures of Loukoumi and her friends Gus the Bear, Fistiki the Cat, Dean the Dog and Marika the Monkey. Whether it s a thoughtful act, a handmade card, or a delicious cookie or cake, kids will learn that there are many cost free gifts that can make a huge difference in the lives of those around them. This message is especially important to kids during these tough economic times as we enter the holiday gift-giving season around the book s release date. The book encourages kids to do something nice or make something for their loved ones as evidenced from the book's recurring line: A gift is a thought your heart creates and need not cost a penny. A gift can be anything that you wish made for one or many. A thoughtful act, a handmade card, a delicious cookie or cake. The perfect gift comes straight from the heart, whatever it is you make. Loukoumi s Gift is dedicated to Daisy, a cleaning lady from an office the author Nick Katsoris worked at 15 years ago. The story is inspired by the real life experience when Daisy gave Katsoris a pair of gold cufflinks because he said Good Morning to her every day. The part of Daisy on the CD is voiced by Jennifer Aniston. Every time a child reads Loukoumi's Gift they too will be performing a good deed. $2.00 from the sale of each book will be donated to St. Jude Children s Research Hospital, internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family s inability to pay.
