In his four-decade career, John has sold more than 250 million records, making him one of the most successful artists of all time. His single "Candle in the Wind 1997" has sold over 37 million copies, becoming the best selling single of all time. He has more than 50 Top 40 hits, including seven consecutive No. 1 U.S. albums, 56 Top 40 singles, 16 Top 10, four No. 2 hits, and nine No. 1 hits. He has won five Grammy awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Tony Award. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked him Number 49 on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. Some of the characteristics of John's musical talent and work include an ability to quickly craft melodies for the lyrics of songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, his former rich tenor (now baritone) voice, his classical and gospel-influenced piano, the sensitive orchestral arrangements of Paul Buckmaster among others, and the on-stage showmanship, especially evident during the 1970s. John was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. He has been heavily involved in the fight against AIDS since the late 1980s , and was knighted in 1998. He entered into a civil partnership with David Furnish on 21 December 2005 and continues to be a champion for LGBT social movements. Excerpt: Simon Wickham-Smith (born Rustington, East Sussex, 2 February 1968) is a British musician, translator, academic and sometime astrologer. He first came to the attention of the experimental music underground with the release of Lake, a collaboration with Richard Youngs issued under the moniker R!!!S!!!. He and Youngs would go on to make many more albums including Ceaucescu, Pulse Of The Rooster and Metallic Sonatas for labels such as Forced Exposure, Majora and VHF. He has also released a handful of solo albums, including one for Campbell Kneale's Celebrate Psi Phenomenon label but he is not as prolific in this regard as his erstwhile partner. He is an occasional member of the Helsinki Computer Orchestra, an indication of his move towards computer based music during the late '90s and early part of this decade. A new collaboration with Richard Youngs was released in 2006, the product of a five-year plan in which the duo recorded just 10 minutes of music each year. The album was titled 5 Years. In 2006, with Pekka Kumpulainen, Wickham-Smith began the Inari Festival of Experimental Music (iFEM) in northern Finland. This small scale musical festival is thought to be the world's most northerly music festival. In addition to his musical activities, Wickham-Smith is a member of the Association Of Professional Astrologers and, since 1998 has been researching the astrology of transgender and intersex people. He intends to publish a book on this subject. In the early 1990s, while living in Davis, CA, Wickham-Smith began studying Tibetan and Mongolian. Towards the end of that decade, he decided to concentrate on ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=4241761 ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ghost in the bell tower
As far as Sweet Valley books go, this one is one of the best. The twins go to their great aunts house to help her spend the summer cleaning up her dirty hotel. Fun. They are joined by their two cousins and Stevens best buddy, and after hearing that the Inn may be haunted they all decide to try and trick Elizabeth into believing there is a ghost. Of course Elizabeth keeps figuring out all their tricks (which I must say were pretty clever), but other strange things keep happening thatthe kids arent up to, could it really be the ghost? Duh. Anyway back in the day when this came out i thought it was Shakespeare, but now that Im 22 and deciding to re-read all my old Twins and High books in my "Nostalgic Summer" this one still holds up in an entertaining Saved By The Bell cheesy way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Go in The Bell Tower
The Wakefield Twins, and their brother Steven, have been invited to their great aunt Helen's Inn,Steven has invited his best friend,Joe Howell.Aunt Helen has also invited Robin and Stacey,The Twins and Steven's cousins to help clean up the inn she inherited. When strange things start happening,Jessica Suspects a Ghost, and she is right.Aunt Helen's friend,That was supposed to marry a doctor,Loved someone else, but he died in the bell tower, and after it was wrung his spirit was set free."BoB" has been pulling jokes on the twins and everybody at the inn unless he's free.

5-0 out of 5 stars Liked it a lot!
I liked this book a lot.I whizzed through it quickly, and before I knew it the book was over. This book was very interesting and was exciting and anyone who likes other Sweet Valley Twins books will enjoy this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars A real ghost!
A sad ghost is trying to scare the twins as they visit theri aunt in an old mansion. But the twins and their cousins may be the only ones who can help him.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!
