Product Description
Australia played a critical role in the peace making process in Cambodia, and the author of this work, Ken Barry, was one of the team of officials who drew up and negotiated the blueprint for the 1991 Paris Peace Accords. This is an insider's view of the complicated, often frustrating negotiations which led, not only to the Paris Accords, but also to what at the time was the United Nations' most ambitious peacekeeping operation. This is also the story of what can be achieved by skillful middle-power diplomacy when the international community puts enmities aside and opts to co-operate for peace. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great book
an honest book from one of footballs great warriors. i loved it. couldn't put it down. if your a raiders fan, you will love this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good laugher
Funny Book and very telling on how football was back in the late 60's and early 70's. It brought back many memories of watching games with my family back when I was a youngster at home. The Snake was always one of my favorite QB's as were the Raiders as a team. Good light read for a good laugh. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars snake on the loose
The book Snake is the biography of Ken Stabler the Oakland Raiders renegade quarterback of the 1970's.The book was very interesting and was very detailed.I recommend reading this book if you are a football fan. Also if you are an Oakland Raiders fan this book is for you.If you do not vulgar language or talks of sex, drugs and rock and roll you should not read this book. The book had many strong points, which include very detailed recolations of games and wild nights. My overall opinion of the book is that was very interesting and if you have a weak stomach this book is not from you.Snake is a book for football lovers and if you liked this book check "I'm the Assassin" by Jack Tatum another renegade from the Oakland Raiders in the 1970's.Go Raiders.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "Must Read" for all Raider Fans.
What were considered rumors about the wild lifestyles of the OaklandRaiders are actually truths according to one of the leaders, Kenny Stabler.Drinking, honky-tonking, reading the playbook by the jukebox light, womanizing and oh yes - football are some of the sideshows in this book. This is not only about the "Snake" but also about the othercharacters from the Oakland Raiders during their heyday.

5-0 out of 5 stars Behind the scenes hilarity of the 70's Oakland Raiders!
This had to be one of the funniest behind the scenes sports books ever.Shocking tales of hot-tub orgies, drunken spree's, and other generalhedonism highlight page after page. And there is some football, too. ... Read more

Excerpt: Mexican-American War American Civil War William Joseph Hardee (October 12, 1815 November 6, 1873) was a career U.S. Army officer, serving during the Second Seminole War and fighting in the Mexican-American War. He also served as a Confederate general during the American Civil War, and his pre-Civil War writings about military tactics were well known and widely used on both sides of the conflict. Hardee was born to Sarah Ellis and Major John Hardee at the "Rural Felicity" estate in Camden County, Georgia. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1838 (26th in a class of 45) and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the 2nd U.S. Dragoons. During the Seminole Wars (183542), he was stricken with illness, and while hospitalized he met and married Elizabeth Dummett. After he recovered, the Army sent him to France to study military tactics in 1840. In the Mexican-American War, Hardee served in the Army of Occupation under Zachary Taylor and won two brevet promotions (to brevet major for Medelin and Vera Cruz, and to lieutenant colonel for St. Augustin). He was captured on April 25, 1846 at Carricitos Ranch, Texas, and exchanged on May 11. Now serving under Winfield Scott, Hardee was wounded at La Rosia, Mexico in 1847. After the war, he led units of Texas Rangers and soldiers in Texas. After his wife died in 1853, he returned to West Point as a tactics instructor and served as commandant of cadets from 1856 to 1860. He served as the senior major in the 2nd U.S. Cavalry (later renamed the 5th U.S. Cavalry) when that regiment was formed in 1855 and then the lieutenant colone...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=376149 ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book to help you buy a practice
I would definately recommend this book if you are interested in either buying or selling an accounting or tax practice.Being business advisors ourselves, we feel we already know a lot about buying and selling businesses - which we do.However it is a wise investment of your time and money to read this book to discover the nuances associated specifically with a CPA practice. After reading this book and attending an online webinar put on by Pro Horizons - I retained one of their consultants - Chuck Hayes - to assist me in evaluating different practices for sale.Chuck has been great in helping me decide on a practice and we are in the latter stages of acquiring a practice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!Really Helpful!
Reading this book was a launching point for me in buying a CPA practice this year. John was the broker who I worked with in buying a CPA practice.John was very helpful and the insight he provided in this book was very helpful as well.John and Ken used their knowledge base gained from personal experience to really outline what a successful practice sale entails, for both the seller and the buyer. If you are looking to buy a CPA practice, this book will help delineate and streamline the major issues and challenges that are presented in the practice purchasing process.I couldn't imagine buying a CPA practice without reading this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clear & Concise Overview of Complex Process
I recently received a copy of Successful Practice Sales and was very impressed with the clarity the book brings to a very complex process. I also had the unique pleasure of meeting the authors recently, and was impressed by their knowledgeand expertise. For a changing CPA industry and in these economic times, having this collection of such extensive knowledge and wisdom gained over the author's last 15 years in the industry is fantastic. I especially appreciated Chapter 7, which outlines to potential pitfalls and how to avoid them in the process of buying or selling a practice. This is a great overview and will get you started on the right path.

2-0 out of 5 stars Overpriced or not? Oversold or not?
Having paid almost $90 for this book I was disappointed with the lack of depth with which key issues were treated. I noted the list price of $120 and surmised that it must have been part of a seminar or training session put on by the Pubishers...ProHorizons. The 4 reviews on Amazon gave the book excellent ratings. What did I miss?
Then I looked more closely at the reasons this particular book, was being rated so highly. One reviewer "Me Mike" wrote the same raving review in June 2008 and February 2009. Same words...same praises. That's two reviews by the same "no real profile " person. Was that a nom de plume? Why twice?
Rick Telberg was the second reviewer. He describes the book as "the best of its kind". Did he read several books on the topic before coming to this conclusion? That was not clear.
The fourth review is by a CPA who had used the book and it appears to be genuine. So of the 4 reviews just one I would take seriously.
I am not disputing the value of the book, but at a lower price of, say $40.
P.S.
I am pleased to report that the publishers contacted me, refunded my purchase price and expressed regret that I was not completely satisfied with the book. They further explained that they had nothing to do with the duplicated comment. Kudos to vendors like Pro Horizons who put customer satisfaction as a top priority.

5-0 out of 5 stars great, practical guidance
I am very impressed with Successful Practice Sales. It covered all of the subjects I expected and did so in a way I could easily understand. All at a reasonable price! In fact, I would have paid far more for the contents of this book. The book was also an excellent reference as I went through the process of selling my practice. ... Read more
