Product Description

About four days ago, a plane landed in America with a man who claimed to be 2000 years old. Today, that man is visiting a school just like yours to tell the children of the world what it's like to be 2000 years old.

Here are some of the things you will learn:

What did the 2000 Year Old Man use for transportation?
FEAR. You see, an animal would growl at you, and you would go two miles a minute!

What language did the 2000 Year Old Man speak?
Rock. Basic rock. Like, "Hey, don't throw that rock at me! Put that rock away!"

What food did the 2000 Year Old Man eat
Only what was natural and organic. Clouds, stars, rocks. Big things and small things. But we had to be careful of the red ants because a few live ones on your tongue will eat your tongue before you eat them.

Comic geniuses Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner have teamed up once again to bring their beloved 2000 Year Old Man to school. This is one show-and-tell exhibit you're never going to forget!

never got it. A refund was placed in my account by Amazon for reason it was not available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny!Funny!Funny!
Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner are two of the funniest men and have been around for years. This children's book shows that they still have it in 2008!I think this book will be a fine addition to my classroom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great illustrations
This is truly one of the greatest illustrated books that I have seen in a while.I am a teacher and every year my students love the illustrations in this book.I look forward to reading it each school year because of the wonderful illustrations.Great work, James Bennett!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE 2000 YEAR OLD MAN GOES TO SCHOOL
Borrowing the format of the grown-up guest who comes to class to tell you something new and wonderful, Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner introduce their 2000 year old man to young students in a free for all Q & A.Actually this 2000 year old man is only 40-something because he dates from 1960's TV, created then by this new picture book's two authors, themselves zany, hilarious performing artists and writers. In this book, set in a classroom, young children ask the old, old, old man wide ranging questions about his experiences at school and at home. The clever, humor comes from unexpected connections or a play on words. Many answers were funny, but it is unclear whether young readers would find them so. Hopefully they will perceive them as silly and lighthearted and will be absorbed into the spirit of crazy fun.The book inspires learning because it shows what imagination can do with common knowledge. Most children studying cave men do not consider playing with the facts; this comedy puts perspective on historical information and contemporary living, the mark of successful satire. The final question slips in moral advice about not cheating. The tone is gentle and silly; it proves you can have fun and still be a mensch. The color illustrations capture the modern classroom and the ancient caveman's milieu. The historical scenes are lively and bursting with action. There is no Jewish content in the words or pictures; it is simply a book by two Jews. However, the book includes a CD (differing marginally from the text, but is essentially the same thing),that is funnier. It delivers not only the words, but also their timing and inflection, and herein lies its Jewish value. This CD captures the rhythms and Yiddishkeit accent of the famous Jewish standup comics whose style entered mainstream American humor. This is one of our culture's great gifts to our national arts. Contemporary youngsters who do not know the Jewish origin of this comic delivery can experience it here. The CD is a piece of living history. Recommended for all ages.Reviewed by Ellen G. Cole

5-0 out of 5 stars Seesaw, a wonderful read about two great artists!!!
Anne Bancroft has been my favorite actress since I was 12 years old.She was always very private, so finding information about her was difficult.I happened across this book in a bargain bin in a department store, and was in heaven. It had what turns out to be fairly accurate information, and is a beautiful love story between two unlikely people.I was so excited at the time, and to this day, treasure the copy I have. The author admits that Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft did not authorize the biography, but true to his word, I have never found out anything he wrote of was inaccurate. There are a few photos, and the author goesback and forth with each chapter between Mel and Anne until the time that they finally come together. If you like Anne Bancroft or Mel Brooks, this would be a wonderful book to read. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Where's the rest?
Well, I got this book for the songs, "We Can Do it" and "Betrayed" neither of which were in the book. A Producers songbook should logically have all the songs from The Producers, Right? Well, this one didn't. It left out two of the most popular songs. And those two just happened to be the ones I needed.

4-0 out of 5 stars the producers song book.
i wanted this for fairly specific pieces- got what i needed. hard to tell on amazon if it's the score you're getting or a book about the producers but -phew- it was song selections. it's only pieces and excerpts so you don't get absolutely everything ( ie you couldn't use it to stage your own production)but suited my purposes well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This book is wonderful....I bought a movie of the recording it'sWonderful EVERYONE should buy it!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific music!
I had no idea that Mel Brooks could write music. The catchiness and charm of his songs really surprised me - I did not expect to like the music of "The Producers" so much until I saw the movie (not the theater production, alas!).After that I knew I had to have the piano/vocal music!

5-0 out of 5 stars See the show, read the book, sing the music!
I am a big fan of Mel Brooks and more recently a fan of his newest hit musical formerlly starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.Since then I have been reading The Producers forum at the official website, and almost every week someone asks "Where can I get a copy of the sheet music" or some variation there of.Well here it is!This collection of 19 catchy tunes and hillarious lyrics is great for singing along with a piano accompament. The songs include ...'Til Him, Along Came Bialy Betrayed, Der Guten Tag Hop-Clop, Goodbye!, Haben Sie Gehort Das Deutsche Band? (Have You Ever Heard The German Band?), Heil Myself, I Wanna Be A Producer, In Old Bavaria, Keep It Gay, Opening Night, Prisoners Of Love (Leo & Max), Springtime For Hitler, That Face, The King Of Broadway, We Can Do It, When You Got It, Flaunt It, Where Did We Go Right?, and You Never Say Good Luck On Opening Night! This is almost everysong on the CD (with the exception of the Oventure and the reprise of Opening Night). With this book you'll have an opportunity to sing, hum, clap and hail Mel the way you may have done when you saw this great Broadway hit! ... Excerpt: Spaceballs is a 1987 science fiction parody film co-written, directed by, and starring Mel Brooks. It was released on June 24, 1987, and earned only modest returns, but has gone on to become a seminal cult classic on video. Its plot and characters contain numerous parodies of elements primarily from the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as Star Trek and other popular science fiction films. Planet Spaceball, led by President Skroob (Mel Brooks), has wasted all of its air and, desperate to find more, plans the extraction of all the air from planet Druidia. They plan to kidnap the Druish Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga), who is about to marry the narcoleptic Prince Valium (Jim J. Bullock). Resenting this marriage, Vespa runs off from the altar with her Droid of Honor, Dot Matrix (Joan Rivers/Lorene Yarnell), and escapes into space, where she is attacked by the Spaceballs under the command of Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis). Vespa's father, King Roland (Dick Van Patten), hires Captain Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his mawg (half-man, half dog) sidekick Barf (John Candy), who are desperate for money to pay back their debts to the Mafioso Pizza the Hutt (Dom DeLuise), to rescue his daughter. Aboard their Eagle V (a Winnebago motor home with wings), Lone Starr and Barf save Vespa and Dot, and distract the Spaceballs by literally jamming a radar hub on their flagship, Spaceball One, and then escaping by entering light speed. In response, Spaceball One pursues b...http://booksllc.net/?id=75222 ... Read more

Kapitel: Macguffin, Die Drei Fragezeichen, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Hitchcockfilm, Mel Brooks' Höhenkoller, Storm Clouds Cantata, Dolly Zoom, Mr. Hitchcock, Wie Haben Sie Das Gemacht?, Alma Reville, Qué Será, Será, Patricia Hitchcock. Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, KBE (13 August 1899 - 29 April 1980) was an English filmmaker and producer who pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. After a successful career in his native United Kingdom in both silent films and early talkies, Hitchcock moved to Hollywood. In 1956 he became an American citizen while retaining his British citizenship. Over a career spanning more than half a century, Hitchcock fashioned for himself a distinctive and recognizable directorial style. Viewers are made to identify with the camera which moves in a way meant to mimic a person's gaze and which forces viewers to engage in a form of voyeurism. He framed shots to manipulate the feelings of the audience and maximize anxiety, fear, or empathy, and used innovative film editing to demonstrate the point of view of the characters. His stories frequently feature fugitives on the run from the law alongside "icy blonde" female characters. Many of Hitchcock's films have twist endings and thrilling plots featuring depictions of murder and crime, although many of the mysteries function as decoys or "MacGuffins" meant only to serve thematic elements in the film and the extremely complex psychological examinations of the characters. Hitchcock's films also borrow many themes from psychoanalysis. Through his cameo appearances in his own films, interviews, trailers, and the television program Alfred Hitchcock Presents, he became an iconic cultural figure. Hitchcock directed more than fifty feature films in a career spanning six decades. Often regarded as the greatest British filmmaker, he came first in a 2007 poll of film critics in Britain's Daily Te...http://booksllc.net/?l=de ... Read more
