Product Description
Tim Burton's uniquely beautiful, disturbing films continue to beguile audiences and critics alike, and Tim Burton is a timely examination of this singular film-maker's incredible body of work. From the acclaimed 1982 short Vincent to 2000's smash-hit Sleepy Hollow, Burton has created a dream world that simply cannot be matched. Animated projects Frankenweenie and The Nightmare Before Christmas, offbeat fantasies like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands and big-budget extravaganzas Batman and Mars Attacks all explore Burton's fascination with the darker side of human nature.

Illustrated with over 400 photographs, and also looking at his work with composer Danny Elfman, Tim Burton explores the meaning behind the motion pictures. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not true at all
Although this book has excellent pictures in black and white and gives some good information, many of the storylines in the descriptions of the movie ARE NOT TRUE. For example, I quote, "In response to the hypothetical question of what one should do upon finding someone's wallet, Edward suggests giving money to friends. LATER ON, Edward is caught by the police taking part in a break-in..." Anyone who has seen this movie knows that Edward breaks into Jim's house BEFORE Mr. Boggs gives him the pep talk on right and wrong. Even the movies are presented in the wrong order. They present Batman Returns before Batman. Many other mistakes are made. If you are a huge fan of Tim Burton like I am, I suggest reading Tim Burton(Virgin Film) by Jim Smith and J Clive Matthews. That one gives much more and quite better im formationon the best director (in my opinion) EVER!!! ... Read more

Dark Horse brings forward something new in the Tim Burton program, and a first in the journal category. The cover art features Burton's "Pin Cushion Queen" from The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories; the image has been enhanced with a dozen or so tiny lighting elements concealed inside the journal's cover. When activated by a hidden on/off button, the colored jewels in Pin Cushion Queen's crown light up in different colors. The journal itself is 128 interior pages suitable as a compendium of the owner's secret thoughts and includes a non replaceable battery that will light the journal up to 1,000 hits of the on switch. 4-0 out of 5 stars Unique Journal for Tim Burton fans
It is exactly as the amazon.com product description states. It is, above all, a blank journal. It is printed on gray paper. The left pages are lined; the right pages are blank with Burton's artwork on the right side and corner.I think these are hard to find. I ordered mine through amazon.ca because they said they could get it in one to two months. It took three and a half months, but it was worth the wait since I couldn't even find it through Dark Horse Comics. ... Read more

Product Description
Big Fish tells the improbable story of Edward Bloom, a larger-than-life figure who, like Baron Munchhausen, cannot help bragging about his fabled exploits. As a young man, his wanderlust leads him from his home in rural Alabama into encounters with an unhappy giant, a witch with a glass eye that can foretell the future, a mysterious town called Spectre from which no one ever leaves, and, of course, a big fish that refuses to be caught. Now near the end of his life, Edward is visited by his sceptical son who wants to know which, if any, of the stories are really true...With Albert Finney as Bloom and Ewan McGregor as his younger self, Big Fish is filmed by Tim Burton in the fantastical style of his Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow. Visually the film is a knockout, with eye-catching and breath-taking set-pieces one after another and a host of cameo appearances from such as Jessica Lange, Billy Crudup, Helena Bonham Carter, Danny DeVito and Steve Buscemi. The NHB Shooting Script is the official tie-in with this major release and Oscar-contender from Columbia Pictures. As well as the full screenplay, it contains introduction and notes by the film-makers, a special 20-page section of colour stills, and complete cast and crew credits. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Yikes!
Oh my goodness! I bought this book for a little 7 year old girl. She loves "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Corpse Bride" - and she loves scary stories and such - so I thought this would be perfect. I gave one to my 11 year old too. Well - that was last Christmas - and just last night (it's now June) my 11 year old decided to read the book. This book is NOT appropriate for a 7 year old or even and 11 year old. There are blatant references to sex. How emabarressing! I have to apologize to the little girl's Mom. They probably read the book six months ago and thought I was a sick-o. So - just a warning - in case you think this is a great gift for a kid - it's not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book
Just a few days ago my boyfriend and i were watching the nightmare before Christmas. And on his disc came a part where this whole movie was based on a poem. He watched it and my boyfriend being a BIG fan... He told me that he would like to have that poem. So, when i came across this book. I knew I had to have it!! I just received it today.I got it quicker then i thought. The book was in excellent shape, and i love the poem!I totally give it 5 stars!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "And though Jack and his friends thought they'd do a good job, Their idea of Christmas was still quite macabre...''
A director named Burton with the first name of Tim
Wrote this tale of a skeleton, tall and slim.

Jack Skeleton is the name of this "hero"
He comes with a ghost dog known as Zero.

As the title implies two holidays meet
Do we say "Merry Christmas" or "trick or treat?"

Jack wants to spread Christmas and help Santa out
But he's a little misguided when he takes the toy route.

The kids are a bit surprised by Jack as S. Claus
Some of his Christmas traditions would make anyone pause.

Before you read this give the movie a look
The film helps the reader make sense of the book.

Illustrated with drawings instead of claymation
This book still creates quite a sensation!

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST HOLIDAY BOOK EVER!!!!
Hmm, where do I begin... I LOVE JACK SKELLINGTON first off, and this book is SOO COOL! And yes, you can probably tell I'm a teenage girl so far... but yeah, I read this book when I was really little (same with watching the movie) and at first it scared the crap outta me (hey, I was little). But when I got older, I started to realize that this thing kicked @$$. It made me laugh, made me smile, made me cry a little, everything! Best holiday book ever! It's not really a little kid book, but it's not too scary either. The scariest part about it are the drawings, just cuz they're so abnormal. Also... if you haven't seen the movie, make sure you do. But all in all, this is probably my favorite book. GOOD JOB TIM!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nightmare Before Christmas
I'd like to know more about Nightmare Before Christmas.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for all Burton Fans

Beetlejuice is a 1988 American comedy horror fantasy filmdirected by Tim Burton, produced by The Geffen Film Companyand distributed by Warner Bros. The plot revolves around arecently dead young couple who become ghosts haunting theirformer home, a quaint and quiet house on a hill overlookingthe fictional town of Winter Rivers located in Connecticut. When a family of metropolitan yuppies from New York Citymove into the house, the ghosts seek the help of anobnoxious, devious and mischievous "bio-exorcist" namedBetelgeuse from the underworld in order to scare the newliving inhabitants away permanently. Beetlejuice stars AlecBaldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara,Jeffrey Jones, Sylvia Sidney and Michael Keaton as thetitular Betelgeuse (the film's title being a phoneticspelling of the character's name). After the success of Pee- wee's Big Adventure, Burton was sent several scripts andbecame disheartened by their lack of imagination andoriginality. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Fantasticaly Good Book . By: Moe Nona (D16)
My favorite poem in this book is The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy.This poem is about how two people had a baby but their baby turned out to be an oyster boy. I know, it sounds weird right, but I think it has something to do with the fish and mollusk stew they had before the mom had made the wish to have a baby. So of course they blamed the doctor like anyone would do and the doctor just told them to buy a house by the sea. So they did, and Sam (their son) was always made fun of. And let's just say his father was the cause to his melancholy death. (You will find out in the poem.)

This book would definitely fit into the category of fiction .None of the poems in this book are realistic. I don't think this book fits into a certain theme because each and every poem is different. I would say that the theme would be "Tim Burton" because already, each poem has "Tim Burton" written all over it. When I read this book I think of Tim Burton's art, and style of writing and also how the poems all relate to his work I've seen.

I absolutely loved this book because I got it at the Museum of Modern Art, the very day he became one of my favorite artists and saw his exhibit. I love the way his poems rhyme. I think that he is very creative to come up with these crazy ideas that are so entertaining. I like the way he connects poems too. For example: There is one poem called Stain Boy and another called Stain Boy's Special Christmas and they are connected. I really enjoyed his illustrations. This book ended up being one of my favorite poetry books. ... Read more
