Product Description
.Drew Carey scripted and starred in his own cable special for years before hooking up with Bruce Helford and creating The Drew Carey Show. He is also the host of his own show Whos Line Is It Anyway? We all know Drew Carey from his award-winning stand-up career and his hit television show, but do we really know Drew Carey, the person? Now, meet the true Drew, in his book, the bawdy, irreverent, and hilarious Dirty Jokes and Beer, and find out about all the many sides of the misunderstood Hollywood star.Amazon.com Review
The enigmatic star of the hugely popular Drew CareyShow divulges the secrets of his rise to stardom and his life as astandup comedian in the audiobook versionof Dirty Jokes and Beer: Storiesof the Unrefined. Despite the title's promise, this isn't justthree hours of filth and debauchery--well, not quite. Carey alsoshares an unexpected admission about being molested as a child, asurprisingly serious and moving moment. This solemnity, however, is abrief respite from almost three hours of bawdy humor--fables of allthings dirty and odes to everything politically incorrect. Carey'sjokes are nothing new or original, but he doesn't profess them tobe. These are characterizations of people he has met throughout hislife: grotesque slobs, cheap hookers, and lousy drunks. They're notexactly inspirational characters, but Carey manages to see--andrelate--their funny sides. Carey borrows his jokes from barroomculture, leaving them raw and uncensored. Listening to the tape, youcan almost smell the stale tobacco and taste the draft beer. Somelisteners will delight in Carey's anecdotes about anatomicallyastonishing penises and his other jokes, while others may feelslightly nauseated. Dirty Jokes and Beer leaves little middleground; you'll either love it or rip your headphones off in disgust. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Well if you like dirty humor and Drew Carry's tongue in cheek satirical humor then you will love this book.

First part of the book was laugh out loud funny, then it lost a little bit of the punchiness in the second half. Still good though and definitely a 5 star book if you are a Drew fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars My First Big Gig
Back in 1992, my first big gig as a comedian was emceeing in Chicago for a week. The headliner that week was Drew Carey, one of the best guys to know and meet in the biz.He is very friendly and honestly wants everyone to succeed; a rare attribute in the world of standup. His also one of the funniest.

Drew's book provides a lot of insight into his steps up the comedy ladder.I wish he had cut the dirty joke chapter and instead included more road stories. The story about his wacky friend and Jim Brown makes the book worth reading alone.I don't want to give it away; trust me, it is absolutely hilarious.

Congrats on all the success Drew; you earned it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Thuddingly Dim
Drew Carey is a thuddingly dim star in the entertainment firmament, an anomaly for sheer inscrutability of talent even in that recondite sphere. While comic actors have at times been known to build their careers on measurable skills, Mr. Carey has successfully parlayed a "less is more" strategy into a career dragging along for an improbably interminable period. No less insipid a figure today than the fateful moment he began desultorily scuffing the boards, Carey lately brings his singular skills and love of soccer to a new show, "Drew Carey's Sporting Adventures," which promises to showcase all that is wonderful about this beloved figure while offering its Travel Channel audience fresh reasons to eschew a sport loved around the globe.

Buster Keaton, Groucho Marx, S.J. Perlman, Dorothy Parker, P.G. Wodehouse, Richard Pryor, Steve Martin, ... none of these shining lights of comedy will be called to mind by Mr. Carey's book, "Dirty Jokes and Beer," whose author bravely goes it alone in the comedic sphere, free from burdensome old bedfellows like perceptiveness, irony, intelligence, or humor.

5-0 out of 5 stars You can judge THIS book by it's cover.
my title here says it all. In this book Carey gives us tons of ammo to fire back at friends. If you're looking for a book to zip though and laugh out loud....get this book. Just don't expect Shakespere!

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not War and Peace but then again, it not supposed to be
Drew Carey is a funny guy.As his Funny Bone commercials state, "funnier than you".The first half of the book is extremely funny then loses its momentum for the latter half.Drew lets you in to his human side, where a lot of other celebrities would shy away from such thinks making Drew even more likable knowing who he is and where he came from.I think his show was great and I think he knows that the joke and his star are not always going to be popular so enjoy it while you can.Drew, the every man's everyman. This book is not a laugh riot but a nice look a man that found his way to stardom by accident without any aspirations from childhood. It does make you laugh but it is not a jokebook.Remember that.I enjoyed this quite a bit while at home and at the beach, a very good beach companion.Give it a try! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars "National Enquirer" quality!
If a writer (and in this context, I use that term loosely)determines that the popularity of a celebrity is high, apparently that "writer" can have published the celebrity's "life story" with noconsequences. Most people's lives are interesting enough without creatinguntrue or unsubstantiated stories to promote a cheap paperback. If thiswriter wants to write fiction, try romance novels. They're big businesstoo, an no real people get hurt.Did Mr. Carey file his libel suit yet?

1-0 out of 5 stars unauthorized for a reason, opportuistic author
This is what happens when someone tries to write a biography who does not know the person she's writing about, so she asks any one who will speak to her excluding those closest to Drew, picks what she wants, and calls it abook.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty Intresting life for a comedian
the drew Carey story is pretty good but the author writes like a untuned piano or a phycologist. The book is pretty good itself and some jokes are funny but i can see why this book really did not sell. She writes reallrboaring but the facts are interesting and his life is sad. So I guesse tgisbook earned it's solid 4 stars. ... Read more

Now I'm not say steal these jokes people. but as a comedianwhen everI suffer a writers block reading other peoples jokes oranything humorous helps me get back on track. Many a time I've been hired by corporate executives to punch up their boring presentations or even wedding toast. With a joke for almost every occasion you can't gowrong. As a stress reliever jokeshave been found tohave great healing power. My adviceget thisbook, read 3 jokes and call me in the morning. Laughter is the best medicine. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fun first season memories!
A fun book to have on the coffee table. The clean pictures and great commentary bring back all the fun memories of the Sounders first year!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sounders FC book captures the historical first season
For any new sports franchise there is only one inaugural season. Everything that happens that first year is the first time it is happening. The book is the brain child of Chad Mack who wrote and produced the book with photographs from Rick Morrison. The book truly visually encapsulates what fans experienced from the first day of training up until the very last whistle of Seattle Sounders FC MLS debut season. The duo was able to effectively capture the complete 2009 experience from the coaches, owners, players and fans perspective. The book is rich in player quotes and well written vignettes that capture the many stories that made up the 2009 season.

Not only is Mack a brilliant story teller with a real passion for the game but he was smart enough to employ the services of photographer Morrison who is one of the finest soccer photographers in the region if not all of the U.S. Morrison didn'tjust take pictures, he captured frozen moments that Sounder fans experienced for the first time. Moreover, he captured the passion of the fans, the city, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Everything that is great about the beautiful game comes to life in this wonderful collectable.

Playing in front of sell out crowds throughout 2009. The Sounders had what was one of the most successful launches of any professional sports franchises in history and established The Emerald City as a major soccer region in the USA and the envy of other MLS cities. New and current franchises are now using a lot of the formula for success that Sounders FC and their owners implemented to create one of the best fan experiences in professional sports. With a successful debut and season full of thrills and chills Mack and Morrison successfully tell the story of the MLS version of the Seattle Sounders maiden voyage.

For fans that wish to have something tangible to remember the very first year of their club, this book is a must have. Indeed there is only one inaugural season. Chad Mack and Rick Morrison did an impeccable job of capturing it and telling one of the greatest success stories for U.S. soccer and professional sports in general. This is a book that will delight Sounders fans of the past, present and future. Kudos to Mr. Mack for having the vision to capture this once in a lifetime experience and partnering with photo story teller extraordinaire, Rick Morrison to tell the story 360 degrees.

5-0 out of 5 stars Soccer Novice Liked It!
As a complete soccer/Sounder novice I now feel educated not only on the first season, but many of the cogent details about the team's history, the integral nature of fan support, how a professional soccer team works and much, much more.

The writing is clear and concise and certainly enhances the dramatic story told through the outstanding photos. The focus (no pun intended) and dedication to this project is obvious and the authors should take great pride in this exciting accomplishment.

Certainly every Sounder's fan should enjoy this book, but even those with just a nascent interest in soccer will be better off from having viewed it and read it.

5-0 out of 5 stars For Every Sounders Fan
I bought this book on presale for my husband's birthday and got it about a day after it came out (kudos Amazon, for getting it to me so quickly!). My husband's birthday is tomorrow and I am excited to give this to him!

This book is great and the photos inside are amazing. It's the perfect size to add to your coffee table or book shelf. It's really a neat book and any fan would love to add it to their collection.

My husband has a Sounders wall in our den and we've got any and all Sounders gear imaginable - I know this book is going to make a great addition to our collection. Commemorating a great season, the pictures are sensational!

For Sounders FC fans and soccer fans in general, this book is a MUST! ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Drew Carey Show is an American sitcom (set in Cleveland, Ohio) that aired on ABC from 1995 to 2004 and was known for its "everyman" characters and themes. The show revolved around comedian Drew Carey, an office worker who has had a long-life working experience, and the highs and the lows of both his romances and his relationships to long-time friends, Lewis, Oswald and Kate. The show was created by Drew Carey, who had both stand-up comedy and writing experience, and Bruce Helford, who was once a writer for Roseanne. It was the first television show to have an episode simulcast on the Internet. ... Read more

Excerpt: The Price Is Right is an American game show centered on the pricing of merchandise to win cash and prizes. The current version of the show premiered on September 4, 1972 on CBS and was hosted by Bob Barker until his retirement on June 15, 2007. Drew Carey succeeded Barker at the beginning of Season 36 on October 15, 2007. In a 2007 article, TV Guide named The Price Is Right the "greatest game show of all time". The show is well-known for its signature line of "Come on down!" when the announcer directs newly-selected contestants to "Contestants' Row." The original version of The Price Is Right aired from 19561965 and was hosted by Bill Cullen. While retaining some elements of the earlier generation show, the 1972 version added many new distinctive gameplay elements, and is the longest continuously-running game show in United States television history, with more than 7,300 episodes aired. The gameplay on the show includes four distinct competition elements through which nine preliminary contestants (or six, depending on the episode's running time) eventually are narrowed to two finalists who compete in the final segment of the show, "the Showcase."
