2-0 out of 5 stars better books out there
not a bad book for carlin fans, but not for this price. only 164 pages and many of those pages are blank filler pages.
I would say buy it if you can find it for 10 or 12 bucks, but 25 bucks for this book is just rippin off the buyer. seems like a last chance to make money off of george. if ya want a book on carlin get george carlins last words: a memoir for around 18 bucks. much better book and much better price

5-0 out of 5 stars A quick review of George Carlin"s Alter-Ego
What a great book on segments of the life of George Carlin. I highly recomend this book to all fans of George Carlin and the best part It's not a tell all book disgracing the artist. I found the book easy to read not being able to put it down I finished it in one eving....Thank you Alter Ego.

5-0 out of 5 stars A tribute to Carlin and his Twin
Not only was the author and alter-ego Bill Brennan one of my father's best friends, he was at various times his boss, his customer, his tenant, his perfect host, his best drinking buddy, his greatest confidant and his biggest fan. My father was not George Carlin, but since I have observed Mr. Brennan in the above roles many times, I found his book George Carlin's Alter-Ego by His Alter-Ego to be one of the best reads I have ever enjoyed. I first met Bill in 1958 when I was 6 years old at the original Dayton (Ohio) Racquet Club, where he the owner/proprietor, and my parents were members. Since I was too young to "get" Carlin, much less get to see his show, I never had the pleasure of meeting him. But he was a great hit there and everywhere else I know. From my intimate knowledge of Brennan, I found many of these stories to be refreshing and further affirmation of Carlin the comedy legend. The anecdotal nature of this book makes it an easy and enjoyable read, with the stories and further insights sealing the legacy of George Carlin as one of the greatest philosophers of modern American storytelling. The genius of Bill Brennan is he packages the same Carlinesque delivery into a man behind the lens view of George the man, making him even more genuine than any of us fans ever knew. Two Thumbs and Two single digits up to this book. You may well laugh 'til you wet yourself, but you are advised to do so in the privacy of your own bathroom. ... Read more

Excerpt: Life Is Worth Losing is the 18th album (not counting audiobooks, compilations or the George Carlin on Comedy interview CD) by American comedian George Carlin. It was recorded simultaneously with the live broadcast of the HBO special of the same title, his thirteenth HBO stand-up comedy special, and was his final special recorded from the Beacon Theater. It is the first project Carlin had undertaken since completing drug rehabilitation in 2005. Early on in the program, Carlin proudly announces that he was 341 days sober at the time of the recording, and that 2006 will be his 50th year in show business. The album was initially slated to be titled I Like It When A Lot Of People Die, the same title he intended to use for the Complaints and Grievances album (2001) before the September 11, 2001 attacks. Not long after the show was scheduled to be aired and recorded, Hurricane Katrina took place, forcing Carlin to again consider and come up with a new album title. Given the fact that some of the material on the album deals with suicide, violence, autoerotic asphyxiation, natural disasters, and the human condition, the veteran comedian settled for a dif...http://booksllc.net/?id=3684411 ... 1-0 out of 5 stars About as funny as watching paint dry.
I consider myself a George Carlin fan...but I now have to wonder if I have been in a drunk stupor most of life when making that judgement. This calendar doesn't even invoke a smirk (from myself or any of my coworkers) much less any actual laughter. This was a gift from my wife and even she suggests just tossing it and forgetting about it.Just awful.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing to say the most:
When I bought this calendar for my husband, I expected some good old laughs from a good old comedian...I am disappointed (my husband doesn't even turn the pages each day!)and if this is George's new kind of humor...he better retire or get into a new line of entertainment!
I am sorry I spent my money on this.I was a long time fan of his and even saw him in concert a couple of times back in the 70's or was it 80's or both...My advice is:don't waste your money unless you like the "new George Carlin"! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What the heck?
Where is the 2010 calendar?

I didn't have the 2008 calendar, but I had the 2009 one and its been a great addition to my desktop.

I agree with the other reviewer, though, that if they did have another calendar and it is, indeed, the same as this years I'd be PISSED. So would George.

Then again, maybe it is a posthumous trick by him?:)

4-0 out of 5 stars Same as 2008!
I love George Carlin more than anyone, but the 2009 calendar is the exact same as 2008, even in the same order! What a jip! He has so much great material, why use the same ones over again? How lame! I think if George knew about this, he would be pissed!

5-0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS - but the SAME EXACT as 2008
My husband - a big George Carlin fan - loved his 2008 Carlin calendar that I got him the 2009 version - but IT'S THE SAME EXACT CALENDAR!Of course the dates/day of week have changed, but the jokes are the same and in the same exact order.BEWARE!

5-0 out of 5 stars georgetastic!
it s what it is. a calendar to remind you everyday of the greatest comedy ever. its just georgetastic! ... Read more
