Product Description
Life goes from Hollywood to Michigan to Mars when Lisa and her family take in her grandmother who has progressive dementia. The Weaver family quickly discovers that she isn t the only one suffering. The comicals of Nora Jo bring a whole new realm of crazy to their offbeat but copasetic abode, driving it into full-throttle Darwinian mode. It s officially Survival of the Fittest at the Weaver joint, and even the dogs are contemplating a quiet exit to the farm. The question is, how high a price can they pay for this traumatic change? And that s when this foursome redefines the meaning of compassion. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for anyone with aging Parents!
I heard the author on late-night radio and had to have her book! I am caregiver for my aging parents, and although we have not been hit with Alzheimer's, I have other family members who have.
Lisa writes of the craziness in caring for a loved grandmother, while melding her into her family life.
I can't remember the last time I actually laughed while reading a book, but with this one, I did, several times.
It is not a sad tale, rather a tale of extreme love and appreciation and understanding of her grandmother's life.

I'll be happy to pass it on to several of my relatives!

I know one thing for sure-that if life takes my memory from me I want Lisa Cerasoli by my side.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meet Nora Jo...
After reading "On The Brink of Bliss and Insanity" by the same author, I immediately ordered "Nora Jo". I wanted more from this author.I was not disappointed! In this memoir, Cerasoli slaps you in the face with the human side of this awful demon, Alzheimers.Once again, throughout it all,her humor charms you and her vulnerablity shakes you to the core.I felt as if I was being let in on a very personal secret.I felt as if she was talking only to me. The emotional pain so entertwined with the exhaustive anger that Cerasoli describes is pungent. When you are finished with this memoir you will be changed. This issue is so prevelant in our society, yet how many of us have considered the true grit of day-to-day caregiving of someone we love with this disease unless we're in the middle of it? What about the victim herself? Cerasoli's portrayal of Nora Jo gives such depth and dimension to her affliction that you understand she truly is trapped.I recommend this memoir to anyone with a soul.Your humanness will deepen.

5-0 out of 5 stars If You Don't Laugh, You'll Cry
If You Don't Laugh, You'll Cry: From a very unsuspecting caregiver who went from Hollywood to Michigan (and some days out of her mind!) comes the touching and humorous memoir of Lisa Cerasoli entitled AS NORA JO FADES AWAY. The actress, ACE certified personal trainer and author shares her candid experiences of running a household as a wife and mother while caring for her "Gram" who suffers with Alzheimer's. It's no wonder this book was the winner of The 2010 Paris Book Festival.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I'll admit that I wasn't overly excited about reading this book but a friend convinced me that it was worth a shot. Two pages in I was hooked and I wish I could double the number of allowed stars I could offer on the five point scale. Truly exceptional and entertaining, especially given the subject matter. ... Product Description
Annie, a sassy, self-deprecating, authentically raw 28-year-old, hazardously, yet humorously, freefalls from an all-time low to rock bottom ... She s lost her job, feels legitimately trapped inside a bad relationship with arguably the most charming prick on the planet, is stifled by her past ... and, oh, a perpetual buzz. Then, she meets Billy, a soulful, petty thief. Add barbed witticisms from Annie s cousin, an angry acupuncturist, and quips from two sadomasochistic elementary school teachers, and watch as reckless desperation leads to blind fearlessness in this modern-day tale where love is lost, found, whined and dined, but mostly redefined. ... You will find yourself locked into this novel immediately and with every turn of a page you will want more. When you find yourself at the end of "On the Brink..." you will feel like you made some new friends and you will feel satiated.

5-0 out of 5 stars **OUTRAGEOUS**
As Annie looks in the mirror, she sees a reflection of a twenty-eight
year old woman who leads a life with absolutely no direction. As she tries to make a better life, her luck just gets worse-and-worse. She learns the hard way in a relationship with Michael that she cannot change
him, or the manner in which he treats her. As he continues to portray the
no-good-for-nothing, cheating boyfriend, Annie decides to find a new path. While she becomes unemployed, and thinking about her painful childhood with a mother who was nonexistent, she stumbles into Billy. Her relationship with Billy is not as good as Billy's relationship is with Michael. Billy, and Michael become very good friends. Billy is an ex-con, who wants to be a musician. He needs to find his inner-self, and a loving relationship doesn't seem to fit his schedule. Michael is all about Michael, and Billy is all about Billy. Where does that leave
Annie? The more Annie thinks about ways to fix her entire world that falls apart, the more wrong turns she makes on the road to happiness. Sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll just don't seem to help in any way. Annie's bad luck turns into desperation for a new life, while she realizes that she has no family, or friends to turn to. Billy tries to fulfill his dream, Michael continues to be arrogant, and Annie's solution to all her problems depends on the amount of tequila she's drinking. As Annie's reckless life begins to shatter like a broken glass, with a heart that needs mending, where will she go now? Does she ever meet Mr.Right, or does she stay with a charming, Mr. Wrong? As the saga continues in the ups-and-downs of Annie's life, will she find bliss,
or insanity in her future? I recommend this novel to chick literature lovers, and everyone who enjoys a true-to-life story, with a blend of humor. Lisa Cerasoli penned an offbeat, delicious slice of life about a
down-on-her-luck girl, and brings her to life. This book is brilliantly
funny. The characters are smashing, and the story is outrageous, and touching. "ON THE BRINK OF BLISS AND INSANITY" is as wild as MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING, and as hilarious as THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, with
Cameron Diaz.
