Product Description

"Forgotten God for kids".  A timeless parable for children from best-selling author Francis Chan.

The villagers loved the big, red tractor. It helped them grow enough food to get them through the year. But it was hard to use, and it didn’t work very well. Even with everyone helping to push and pull the tractor, they couldn’t get much done. Everyone believed that was just how things were. That is, until Farmer Dave discovered a long-lost book in a dusty attic. Could it really change everything? Farmer Dave thinks so. But the other villagers aren’t so sure.

The Big Red Tractor and His Little Village is a contemporary parable sharing a timeless truth: God has a special purpose for you and you can fulfill it through the help of his Spirit. It’s a powerful lesson perfectly told for little hearts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Red Tractor
This is a great book with a great message. It's a little more advanced for our one year old, but we'll be reading it to him soon!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Moral, Failed Communication
A parable about the importance of reading Scripture and fulfilling God's purpose for your life with the help of His Spirit, The Big Red Tractor and the Little Village attempts to share an important message, but fails to communicate it effectively to today's kids. In the story, the villagers use the Big Red Tractor to plow their fields, yet they have to manually push and pull the tractor along because they don't know that it can run on its own. Any kid who has been to a farm is going to be asking how the villagers could possibly have missed that important and seemingly obvious fact. That part really hung me up. Apart from that, the illustrations are terrific and the moral of the story is good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great illustrations - Great Theology
This book beautifully communicates the theology of being empowered by the Holy Spirit. Makes it more clear for adults as they read to ages 2+

4-0 out of 5 stars the big red tractor and the little village
We liked the Francis Chan book.It is being passed from one family to another. The 8 year olds read it to younger kids.
I think they enjoyed Halfway Herbert more, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Kids Love It
I am a Francis Chan fan and was very excited to see that he wrote a couple of children's books to accompany Crazy Love and Forgotten God. I purchased both The Big Red Tractor and Halfway Herbert for my 4, 2, and 1-year-old. My 2 and 4-year-old love them. The pictures are bright colored and attractive. There are a few visual jokes that my kids are too young to understand but parents and older kids will see the humor. Both books end with a Biblical lesson and Bible verse. ... Read more

Product Description
China's involvement in Africa has provoked much debate and discussion. Is China just the latest in a line of exploiters of Africa's rich natural resources who put their own economic interests above humanitarian, environmental or human rights concerns?Or is China's engagement an extension of 'South-South solidarity'? Does China's involvement enable African countries to free themselves from the tyranny of debt and conditionality that, through two decades of structural adjustment programmes, have reversed most of the gains of independence? Or is Africa swapping one tyranny for another?Much of the commentary on China in Africa focuses either on assessing how Western capital's interest might be affected, or on denouncing China for practices that have for centuries been the norm for US and European powers - support for dictators, callous destruction of the environment, exploitation of minerals, and complete disregard for human rights.Lost in that noisy debate has been the voice of independent African analysts and activists. They are heard in this unique collection of essays from the prize-winning weekly electronic newsletter, Pambazuka News.As these articles demonstrate, there is no single 'African view' about China in Africa, but the authors are united by their concern for, and commitment to, social justice for Africa's people. The contributors include: Ali Askouri, Horace Campbell, Michelle Chan-Fishel, Moreblessings Chidaushe, John Blessing Karumbidza, Daniel Large, Anabela Lemos, Firoze Manji, Stephen Marks, Ndubisi Obiorah, Kwesi Kwaa Prah, Daniel Ribeiro and John Rocha. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Nice collection of African views
This is a nice collection and cross-section of African views on China's fast-growing relations with Africa. No stunning analysis or data, and not a very wide range of viewpoints, but it is useful to hear from some African experts themselves rather than from China or international relations scholars, journalists, or political pundits with a particular bias.

5-0 out of 5 stars Offers different views united by their concerns for social justice in Africa
African Perspectives on China in Africa offers college-level material for any library serious about China's involvement in Africa. Traditional commentary focuses on either assessing how the interests of Western capital might be affected or denouncing China's practices - the same actually as those of the West and Europe. This collection of essays from the prize-winning electronic newsletter Pambazuka News offers different views united by their concerns for social justice in Africa.

4-0 out of 5 stars Knowledge is a good thing
This book provides, in a series of essays, a reasonable overview from several perspectives of the involvement of China in Africa.Really, it is a necessity for any person who considers themselves to possess a well rounded educated and a lively interest in the world to read books such as this.We need to keep ourselves informed in regards to the background of present situations, the firsthand observations of people and their opinions.Understanding of politics and events in various African countries such as Zimbabwe or Sudan is facilitated by reading books like this. There are several such books available. This one is both highly readable and informative. ... Product Description
The Gospel of the Kingdom of God has a four-fold blessing which unintentionally is not properly presented as a whole gospel package by many ministers. The four-fold blessing are healing of the spirit (salvation), healing of the soul (wholeness of emotions and mind), healing of the body, and general well-being (favor from God and man). This complete gospel as intended by God before the foundations of the world was shared to the prophet Isaiah and King David even before Christs birth.

This book traces the purpose of the gospel from the Old Testament to the apostolic age. It shows Jesus beginning His ministry by picking up the gospel-link from Isaiah, presenting the gospels four-fold blessing, and fulfilling Gods intention in His life, death, and resurrection. You can live a victorious Christian life when you understand how to appropriate the four-fold blessing of the gospel as intended by God. ... Read more

Product Description

The majority of studies on the quality of life have been conducted in Western contexts and are based on Western participants. Comparatively speaking, there are only a few studies that have been conducted in different Chinese contexts. Also, there are fewer QOL studies based on children and adolescents, or studies that examine the relationship between QOL and economic disadvantage. In addition, more research is needed to address the methodological issues related to the assessment of quality of life.

This volume is a constructive response to the challenges described above. It is the first book to cover research in Chinese, Western and global contexts in a single volume. It is a ground-breaking volume in which Chinese studies on the quality of life are collected. The book includes papers addressing family QOL, quality of life in adolescents experiencing economic disadvantage, and methodological issues in the assessment of QOL. It is written by researchers working in a variety of disciplines.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality of life reearch in Chinese, Western and global contexts
Quality of life (QOL) research has become popular over the last decade or so. Making a search on "quality of life" at Medline/PubMed, when writing this review, revealed 74,415 entries with the first papers from the 1960s.
This book edited by Daniel TL Shek from the Social Welfare Practice and Research Centre of the Department of Social Work, Ying Keung Chan from the Department of Sociology and Paul SN Lee from the School of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese University in Hong Kong, is an interesting book looking at the concept QOL from a holistic point of view. Of the 17 chapters, the first five are studies from Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark and the United States, while the rest are studies on QOL in Hong Kong.
This book is unique due to the global scope, QOL at different stages of the life span, the holistic and multidisciplinary approach and the different methodology used in the various studies.
This book will become an important source for both academics, researchers and students involved with the issue of QOL research both on a national and international level.
