Not for Hayden fans
I was very disappointed in this book. I am a big Hayden fan and this book did not had a lot of information about Hayden nor pictures.

If you like Hayden OR Star Wars, this book rocks!!
I found this book reallly interesting and had excellent information. I love Star Wars and liked hearing about all the challenges he went through to prepare for the role. But there is also good info about his background and how his career started. i would recommend this book to anyone who likes Hayden or Star WArs.

He's not just a Star Wars Star!
I read this book in anticipation of knowing more about this outstanding actor. The author talked only about SW, and briefly talked about his best film to date, "Life As A House". This is a serious actor, no matter what people think about his performance in Star Wars. I don't reccomend this book. You will find a much better bio of him online. Check out his fan bases.

Love Christensen did not love author
Being a large fan of Hayden Christensen, I pounced on the chance to read a biography on him.
However, I must say, I was very dissapointed! Though there were some nice photographs of Christensen, the author published this book before Star Wars came out, which Ithought a mistake, because everything the author said was a perdiction!
Other then that, the author made everything too brief and talked more about his Star wars movie then the rest of his life. I was sad as the author went into painstaking detail on lightsabers, and yet said only a paragraph about my favorite film of his, "Life as a House."Overall the author used fair language, and for the most part Hayden Christensen deserved a better biographer. Great book!
If you have ever played The Force Unleashed you know that this is the best Star Wars material released in the last 30 years. Although Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars was also great, The Force Unleashed was closer to the original trilogy.

This book is perfect for anyone interested in games, Star Wars or concept art.

Actually, I took the name with a little drawback (the art AND MAKING of the...) because I'm not that much interested in game creation. If you're like me, don't worry: the games features, development, production, character developments, voice/acting, staff meeting reports, concept art - and I mean, A LOT of those - and also a chapter about game development and technology - this the least interesting for me, but it's there if you want to check.

One of the things that strikes me the most is that they reveal what they were planning before the actual game came to be. The books features many drafts of stories that were considered but not developed... It makes one wonder what the new trilogy would be like if Mr. Lucas had had such a team with him.

Highly recommended!

Full of behind the scenes info and stunning art
Absolutely the best book I've found on the subject of developing, pitching, and creating the visual development and concept art for video games. The book is full of information about what it took to find the right concept that would work with audiences and push the Star Wars canon. This is a "must have" for anyone who wants to create art for the game industry. You can really get a sense of how much work needs to be "churned out" for a game, because the book is so full of art the binding is about to break. That's my one annoyance. This book should have been printed better. The binding on my copy, and for several other artists, is coming apart. I still can't give it 4 stars for that though, the quality of the artwork makes up for it.

Nice content, TERRIBLE binding!
The content of this book is both interesting and very pretty to look at, however the binding, specifically the glue, is defective, i've had two editions and both have separated from their cover - all the interior pages have remained bound (glued) together, just no longer attached to their cover.

Free Book with Collector Cards
This art book shows the fantastic conceptual art created for Star Wars The Force Unleashed video game.
I was so looking forward to this book, however when it did arrive there was one glaring problem which can not be overlooked.

Some genius decided it would be a great idea to include two envelopes with collector cards inside, firmly stuck to pages 58 and 86 these are not removable without damaging the pages.
So now when you decide to take a look, it automatically opens up to pages 58 or 86 there is no pleasure in reading this book.

I have contacted the Insight Editions to raise this issue with them, they have replied thanking me for raising the issue and they will forward my email to the correct department.
I have not heard back from them about changing the collector card issue.

Why do something like this? Firstly I am not interested in the collector cards, I would have preferred another 10 pages of artwork instead.
Secondly if they must include collector cards fasten them to the back inside cover.

Sorry about that but had this book not included those cards attached onto the pages I would have given this book four stars, it truly spoils the enjoyment of just thumbing through seeing and reading it.

Otherwise it is a great book with a great insight into the various stages of development, mostly hand sketches and roughs are shown I would have liked to have seen more final renders as well as stills from the final game and video sequences used in the game.

I suggest anyone who purchased this book or considering purchasing this book, contact Insight Editions and get them to change this foolish decision.

Great Art Poor Binding, and What Is Up With the Trading Cards
This book has a lot of nice art in it, and is a great reference for anyone interested in the design process. However I ordered my first one, and the next day after some really light page turning, the front cover completely detatched from the rest of the book. So I sent it back for a replacement, and upon receiving it two days later the same thing happened. I decided to just keep the second, and fix it myself because it is too good of a book not to have, but still WTF! ... Read more
