Excerpt: Russell Ira Crowe (born 7 April 1964) is a New Zealand-born, naturalised Australian actor and musician. His acting career began in the early 1990s with roles in Australian TV series such as Police Rescue and films such as Romper Stomper. In the late 1990s, he began appearing in US films such as the 1997 movie L.A. Confidential. He has been nominated for three Oscars, and in 2001, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his starring role in the film Gladiator. He also won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for A Beautiful Mind. Crowe is also co-owner of National Rugby League team the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Crowe was born in Wellington, New Zealand, the son of Jocelyn Yvonne (née Wemyss) and John Alexander Crowe, both of whom were movie set caterers; his father also managed a hotel. Crowe's maternal great-great-grandmother was Mori, and his paternal grandfather was from Wrexham, Wales; Crowe also has some Scottish and Norwegian ancestry. Two of his cousins, Martin and Jeff Crowe, are former New Zealand national cricket captains. When Crowe was four years old, his family moved to Australia, where his parents pursued a career in film set catering. The producer of the Australian TV series Spyforce was his mother's godfather, and Crowe at age five or six was hired for a line of dialogue in one episode, opposite series star Jack Thompson. (In 1994 Thompson played Crowe's father in The Sum of Us. He had been educated at the same school which Crowe was to attend for two years: Sydney Boys High School.) Crowe also appeared briefly in serial The Young Doctors. From his youth to the present, Crowe has had a special ... More: http://booksllc.net/?id=25695 ... Read more

Excerpt: Hugh John Grant (born 10 September 1960) is a British actor and film producer. He has received a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA, and an Honorary César. His movies have also earned more than $2.4 billion from 25 theatrical releases worldwide. Grant achieved international stardom after appearing in Richard Curtis's sleeper hit Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994). He used this breakthrough role as a frequent cinematic persona during the 1990s to deliver comic performances in mainstream films like Mickey Blue Eyes (1999) and Notting Hill (1999). By the turn of the century, he had established himself as a leading man skilled with a satirical comic talent. In recent years, Grant has expanded his oeuvre with critically acclaimed turns as a cad in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), About A Boy (2002), and American Dreamz (2006). He has been criticised by students of cinema for putting emphasis on nuanced mannerisms, for the predictability of his movies, and for his unwillingness to stretch as an actor. Within the film industry, he is cited as a anti-movie star who approaches his roles like a character actor, with the ability to make acting...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=170779 ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! A Beautiful Mind is a 2001 American film based on the life of John Forbes Nash, Jr., a Nobel Laureate in Economics. The film was directed by Ron Howard and written by Akiva Goldsman. It was inspired by a bestselling, Pulitzer Prize-nominated 1998 book of the same name by Sylvia Nasar. The film stars Russell Crowe, along with Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Christopher Plummer and Paul Bettany. The story begins in the early years of Nash's life at Princeton University as he develops his "original idea" that will revolutionize the world of mathematics. Early in the movie, Nash begins developing paranoid schizophrenia and endures delusional episodes while painfully watching the loss and burden his condition brings on his wife and friends. The film opened in US cinemas on December 21, 2001. It was well-received by critics, grossed over $300 million worldwide, and went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress. It was also nominated for Best Leading Actor, Best Editing, Best Makeup, and Best Score. The film has been criticized for its inaccurate portrayal of some aspects of Nash's life. ... Read more

Read more

Chapters: Russell Crowe, Jenny Morris, Liam Finn, Marc Hunter, Boh Runga, Nathan King, Peter Urlich, Lindsay Dawson, Craig Terris. Excerpt:Boh Runga Boh Runga is the lead singer and guitarist in New Zealand rock band Stellar* . She comes from a very musical family - both her sisters are, or have been, in bands. She is the eldest of three sisters - her youngest sister, Bic , has a successful solo career, and Pearl has been in several bands in New Zealand. Boh grew up in New Zealand , the daughter of a Maori ex-serviceman and a Chinese mother who forsook her own singing career in Malaysia to join him in a place she barely knew existed. It wasn't the easiest place to grow up but the Runga household, with Boh leading the way, was bursting to its seams with music. Boh left Christchurch for Auckland to form Stellar in the late 90 s. After signing with Sony Music, their 1999 debut album Mix set New Zealand s radio waves alight, and Stellar quickly became Sony's biggest selling kiwi band. The acclaim wasn't just multi-platinum sales based, with Stellar securing eight Tui Awards (NZ Grammys) for Mix and its 2001 follow up Magic Line . After the release of Magic Line and the subsequent touring of New Zealand, Australia and Europe, Boh headed to Los Angeles for the first time in 2003 for a period to hone her skills as a songwriter at the invitation of her LA-based music publishers, Chrysalis. Boh also has her own jewelry line. In 2007, a fortuitous introduction to the gold bullion company NZ Mint led Boh into designing and launching her first jewellery range called Birdland , based on her love of New Zealand s native birds. Both Birdland and The Messenger Stories , her second collection released in late 2008, have been a huge success in New Zealand, and Boh now plans to release the ranges in Austr... ... Read more
