Product Description
From the day The Beatles arrived in Dublin at the height of Beatlemania in 1963 and Paul McCartney announced `it's great to be home', the Fab Four never hid their love for Ireland. By the end of that decade John had bought an island off the Mayo coast, and in the 1970s John and Paul were writing songs about the troubled events in Northern Ireland. Yet there has never been a book about their Irish connections. This is not a music biography but simply details every Irish connection The Beatles have with Ireland, from their family trees to their concerts and the many visits they made across the Irish Sea. It is based on exclusive interviews, fifteen years of research and firsthand accounts by people that spent time with them. With Irish Beatle locations detailed, an Irish charts discography, accounts of the Irish fan club, and a detailed list of Beatles-related programs on Irish radio and TV,not to mention exclusive unpublished photographs, this is the legacy of The Beatles in Ireland. Product Description
Many landowners are interested in the native animals that live on their farms or once occurred there. In particular they want to know why particular species are present (or absent), what they can do to encourage them to visit, and what they might do to keep them there.

Wildlife on Farms outlines the key features of animal habitats—large flowering trees, hollow trees, ground cover, understorey vegetation, dams and watercourses—and describes why landholders should conserve these habitats to encourage wildlife on their farms. It shows how wildlife conservation can be integrated with farm management and the benefits this can bring.

The book presents 29 example species—mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians—that are common to a large part of southern and eastern Australia. Each entry gives the distinguishing features of the animal, key features of its required habitat, and what can be done on a farm to better conserve the species. ... Read more

Product Description
Australia's little known woodlands once covered huge areas of the eastern side of our continent. Woodlands are distinguished from forests by the fact that their canopies do not touch, tree heights are usually lower and they usually have a grassy understorey. They support a fascinating and diverse array of birds, mammals, reptiles, frogs, invertebrates and plants, and have been under massive pressure from grazing and agriculture over the past 200 years. In many cases only small remnant patches of some types of woodland survive. Understanding and appreciating woodlands is an important way forward for promoting their sustainable management and conservation.

Woodlands: A Disappearing Landscape explains with lucid text and spectacular photographs the role that woodlands play in supporting a range of native plants and animals that has existed there for millions of years.

The book is set out as a series of logically linked chapters working from the woodland canopy (the tree crowns), through the understorey, the ground layers, and to the lowest lying parts of landscape – wetlands, creeks and dams. Each chapter illustrates many key topics in woodland biology with text and images, explaining important aspects of woodland ecology as well as woodland management and conservation.

Features

*top-quality images by one of Australia’s finest natural history photographers
*text by Eureka prize winner, David Lindenmayer
*complements much that has been written about Australia’s tall forests ... Read more

Excerpt: Feargal Sharkey (born Sean Feargal Sharkey, 13 August 1958, Derry, Northern Ireland) is an Irish singer, who first found fame as the lead vocalist of pop punk band The Undertones, famous for the hit single "Teenage Kicks". Since the end of his recording career he has worked in the business side of music and held several leadership roles in the music industry. He was a co-founder of The Undertones at their inception in 1976. As the singer, his high, tremulous voice with its undisguised Derry accent was considered integral to the band's sound. In the 1970s they played in many locations throughout Northern Ireland, including the Flamingo Ballroom in Ballymena. The Undertones had several UK hits with songs such as "Here Comes The Summer", "My Perfect Cousin", "Wednesday Week" and "It's Going To Happen". The band split in 1983 citing musical differences, with Sharkey pursuing a solo career and other members of the band forming That Petrol Emotion the following year. John Peel famously said in an interview, 'Teenage Kicks' came on the radio, and I had to pull the car over to the side of the road. There's nothing you could add to it or subtract from it that would improve it." The song was played at Peel's funeral in 2004, which Sharkey attended. Before his solo career took off, he was also the singer of the one-shot group The Assembly with ex-Yazoo and Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke. In 1983 their single "Never Never" was a UK #4 hit. Sharkey's debut single was a collaboration with Madness member Cathal Smyth titled "Listen To Your Father". The single was released on Madness's label Zarjazz Records in 1984, reaching #23 in the UK ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=1105762 ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty darned OK...
For having to come after the 1st Flicka with all different actors, this group did very well.My wife would give it even more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flicka movies
I love horses & will watch any horse movie, Flicka was a favorite as a kid & still is, so I had to have Flicka 2.
Love this movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flicka2
I love this movie.I'm a bigClintBlack fan and have all his movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars happy with product.
the movie was shiped very quick and everything came very well packaged. The sight was very easy to use. Thanks!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good...IF you weren't expecting a continuation of the first one.
Our family LOVED the first Flicka movie. We have watched it over and over with the kids. My 10 year old daughter was SO excited when they announced Flicka 2 was coming out. She is a big horse fan and takes riding lessons, etc. The first one was a wonderful, touching story and we waited eagerly to see what had happened when Katy took over the wild mustang ranch with her dad (Tim McGraw) and her brother went off to college.

Don't get your hopes up. Flicka 2 has NOTHING to do with the original Flicka. None of the carachters are the same. This movie is totally different. Flicka, the horse, IS in it, but that is the ONLY carachter that is the same.

This one is about a "skater" girl,Keri, (Katy's cousin) that has to go live with her father after her grandma (who cares for her) gets ill. She is a city girl and she has to go live on a ranch with her dad. It's all about the city girl going country and the struggles that ensue with her adjusting to her new life with her dad. Apparently her dad was either Katy's dad's brother or Katy's mom's brother because through the movie Katy is referred to as this girl's (Keri's)cousin. They are keeping Flicka while Katy goes off to college to become a veterinarian. Confused yet ? I was.

Ok.....

1---Where is Katy's family ? Why can they not keep Flicka ? They do OWN a horse ranch! Why is Flicka with these people?
2---In the first movie,Katy said she did NOT WANT to go to college, she wanted to take over the ranch. Now she's in vet school ?
3---Katy's brother wanted to go to college. He is not mentioned in this movie.
4---Katy's uncle is never mentioned in the first movie, nor is Kate's city girl cousin Keri.

The acting in this movie is horrible. Ok for kids, but adults will notice. I cannot stress enough, the FIRST one was great with great actors. You can tell this one was an attempt to make a decent movie, but it falls short. If you have NOT seen the first one you WILL enjoy this one. If you HAVE seen the first one, don't expect this one to pick up where the first one left off or you will be disappointed.

ALL that being said, it IS a safe/clean movie for families and children. :) Horse lovers will like seeing the beautiful horses.

My daughter likes Flicka 2 but was let down, she just wanted to see the rest of the first story, not a totally new plot.

The whole first movie was about how Katy did NOT want to go to college and how she fought to keep Flicka/take over the ranch with her dad, and how her brother was dying to leave the ranch and go to school. Now Katy is in vet school (?), Flicka is somewhere else, and nobody else is mentioned. LOL. ... Read more
