Product Description
Today's entertaining at home should be relaxed and not keep the host in the kitchen and away from the company of family and freinds. Top Sydney cook Ross Dobson's mantra is to keep it simple as this collection of fuss-free recipes demonstrates. A chapter on Grazing offers ideas for fingerfoods and drinks. Try Roast Pumpkin, Feta, and Olive Empanadas, Slow-cooked tomatoes with Goat Cheese; or a Smoked Trout, Celeriac, and Apple Salad with Rye Toasts. With the frugal cook in mind. Cheap and Cheerful has great recipes for dishes that will keep guests well-fed without breaking the bank. Try Mushroom, Spinach, and Potato Bake; Baked Thai-style Fish with Cilantro Rice; or Roast Chicken Pot Pie. When cooking for friends mid-week time is often an issue. Food in a Flash features dishes that can be thrown together with the minimum of effort. Try Pappadelle Pasta with Chicken Tabbouleh. A chapter of Chic Eats has perfect recipes for when you want to dine in style. Try Roast Turkey Breast with Green Olive Salsa or Roast Beef Rib-eye with Cafe de Paris Butter. Sweet Things are always popular and a good way to end any meal, however informal. Treat your guests to Almond, Mascarpone, and Pear Tart; White Chocolate Pots with Berries; or Cherry and Walnut Brownies.

*With the emphasis on buying good but affordable ingredients and keeping it simple, Ross Dobson's recipes make entertaining effortless.

*In tune with the current trend for affordable fuss-free entertaining at home.

*Mouth-watering photography by Kate Whitaker.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful pictures
Although it says easy recipes on the cover, most of these recipes have uncommon ingredients which means hunting down the ingredients at the market. The pictures are beautiful almost like art work which makes you very hungry.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bland and uninspired
After reading the positive reviews for this book I decided to give this book a try. I'm newly vegetarian and the only veg. cookbook on my shelf was an old moosewood cookbook which just wasn't cutting it for me any more.
I've had really great results with Donna Hay (another Aussie chef, not vegetarian) any recipe I've made turn out fantastic! Easy recipes, beautiful photos and truly delicious. I absolutely love her books, highly recommended.

This book unfortunately has been nothing but disappointing and bland. The photos are pretty and enticing, the recipes are easy to follow but each dish I've made comes out bland. The best thing about these dishes is that it gives boyfriend and I the challenge to dissect the boring flavors and come up what we could add to make this food really pop. Oh, and another thing, there are several recipes which suffer even more by using canned ingredients. The book is called "Market Vegetarian" shouldn't we be using fresh produce?
It's given me a few okay ideas but pretty much I'm ready to toss this one in the trash.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must buy book
This is a wonderful book. I purchased it as I have a vegetarian daughter who has lots of food allergies. Recipes are simple to follow and everything I have cooked has been delicious. I own many vegetarian books but like this the best. The sweet potato , coconut soup with Thai pesto is outstanding !

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!
I picked this cookbook up on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I've made over half of the recipes in the book, and have been very pleased with nearly all of them. Easy, fast, fresh, and healthy, plus he draws on many delicious cuisines. The photography is beautiful and the ingredients are easy to find. Great buy for a vegetarian cook! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars so far so good
I have a tried a handful of receipes from this book and so far i have been impressed. My favorite has to be the sesame noodle salad, although i have a real nice korean market near me so some of these ingrediants might not be so easy to find for you (at your local supermarket). That said, i would recommend this book to any on looking an organic cookbook with a little flair for the exotic. ... Read more
