Excerpt: Glenn Danzig (born Glenn Allen Anzalone on June 23, 1955) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, author, entrepreneur, and a progenitor of the horror punk subgenre of music. He is the founder of bands the Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. He also owns the Evilive record label and Verotik, an adult-oriented comic book publishing company. Danzig's musical career, beginning in the mid-1970s, encompasses genres such as punk rock, heavy metal, industrial, blues and classical music. He has written songs for other musicians, including Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. As a singer, he is noted for his baritone vocal range and distinctive style, which has been compared to that of Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison and Howlin' Wolf. Danzig has also cited Bill Medley as a vocal influence. As an author, he is known for his fascination with horror, gore, occult, erotic and religious themes. Danzig was born in 1955 to a New Jersey Protestant family of Italian, German, and Scottish-American heritage. He has two older brothers and one younger brother. Their father was a strict Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Warand World War II who worked as a television repairman. Danzig began listening to heavy music at an early age and has also described Black Sabbath and The Doors as being among his early musical influences. Danzig began to experiment with hard liquor and drugs at a young age, leading him into frequent fights and trouble with the law. He stopped using drugs at the age of 15. Product Description
The Misfits are an American rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, the group had a fluctuating lineup during its first six years with Danzig and bassist Jerry Only as the only consistent members. During this time they released several EPs and singles and, with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group's dissolution, and their music became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music of the late 1990s and early 2000s. After a series of legal battles with Danzig, Only and Doyle regained the rights to record and perform as the Misfits. They formed a new version of the band in 1995 with singer Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Renewing the countryside
This is a fabulous book. I wish there had been one about Illinois. It is broadly divided into sections of Arts & Culture, Innovative Farming, Building Community, Toward a Healthy Planet, Travel & Recreation, Good Enough to Eat, and Learning & Action. It is inspiring to read about how the people and small businesses are impacting their communities and improving the world. I live close enough that I hope to visit some of the places written about and I've been asking the managers of some local stores if they could stock some of these more local products.

5-0 out of 5 stars Would ably serve as a template for similar books
Compiled and co-edited by the team of Jerry Hembd, Jody Padgham, and Jan Joannides, and enhanced with an informative foreword by Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, "Renewing The Countryside: Wisconsin" beautifully and informatively showcases thirty-nine creative, hard-working people, organization and business that are infusing the Wisconsin countryside with life and activity. "Renewing The Countryside: Wisconsin " is organized into seven chapters covering arts and culture, farming, green business, conservation, tourism, community development, and education. From the story of how the city of Washburn on Wisconsin's Chequamegon Bay became the country's first eco-municipality; to how 'Growing Power' is connecting urban Milwaukee kids to fresh food and country side; to how innovative farmers and artisan food makers are bringing sustainability and organically grown products to consumers throughout Wisconsin, "Renewing The Countryside: Wisconsin" offers inspiring examples of what the reader can do in his or her own part of the Badger state. Simply stated, "Renewing The Countryside: Wisconsin ", which is also available in a hardcover edition (9780979545801, $39.95), should be a part of every Wisconsin school and community library -- and would ably serve as a template for similar books featuring similar efforts with respect to the rural economies and conditions in other states. ... Product Description
Exodus is the second book of the Hebrew Bible, and the second of five books of the Torah/Pentateuch.

Moses leads the Hebrews out of Egypt and through the wilderness to the Mountain of God: Mount Sinai. There Yahweh, through Moses, gives the Hebrews their laws and enters into a covenant with them, by which he will give them the land of Canaan in return for their faithfulness. The book ends with the construction of the Tabernacle.

According to tradition, Exodus and the other four books of the Torah were written by Moses. Modern biblical scholarship places its final textual form in the mid 5th century BCE, although a minority but important view would consider it a product of the Hellenistic period.

Product Description
Popular Books of the Bible Series

The Book of Genesis is the first book of the Hebrew Bible, and the first of five books of the Torah, called the Pentateuch in the Christian Old Testament.

Genesis contains some of the best known biblical stories, including the Hebrew account of the creation of the world, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah's Ark, the Tower of Babel, the Call of Abraham, Abraham and the sacrifice of Isaac, Esau and Jacob, the marriage of Jacob, Jacob and Laban, Sarah and Pharaoh, Sarah and Abimelech, the battle of the Vale of Siddim, Sodom and Gomorrah, Jacob's wrestling with the angel at Peniel, Joseph and his coat of many colours, Joseph and the interpretation of Pharaoh's dreams, Onan and his sin, the seduction of Lot by his daughters, the Blessing of Jacob, the purchase of the cave of Machpelah, and others. Structurally, it consists of the "primeval history" (chapters 1–11) and cycles of Patriarchal stories (chapters 12–50)—Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (renamed, Israel), and concluding with Joseph. Modern critical scholarship believes that the Book of Genesis reached its final form in the 5th century BC, with a previous history of composition reaching back into the 6th and 7th centuries.

For Jews the theological importance of Genesis centers on the Covenants linking Yahweh (God) to his Chosen People and the people to the Promised Land. Christianity has interpreted Genesis as the prefiguration of certain cardinal Christian beliefs, primarily the need for salvation (the hope of all Christians) and the redemptive act of Christ on the Cross as the fulfillment of covenant promises as the Son of God. Even the rebellion by Adam and Eve has been seen as a prefiguration of original sin.
