4-0 out of 5 stars Review of Loeb's 'Fallen Son'
This is a brief but powerful look at the humanity of Marvel's heroes. It was brilliant to organize the stories into the different stages of loss/grief. The writing is, alright. The illustrations are great.

1-0 out of 5 stars Out of ideas? Time to ruin another legendary storyline.
This is really getting old. Where do these writers get off? Jeph Loeb?! I had so much respect for him. I just don't understand where these modern writers think they have the right to take a legendary character like Captain America/Steve Rogers and just decide that they have the right to end the storyline on their watch. IT'S NOT YOUR CREATION! You're just a custodian of something that the late greats created. If you want to kill off a character, then create and kill off your own stupid characters. And then on top of it, it's a completely overly-sentimental, lackluster, forget-it-five-minutes-later story; nothing they didn't do with Superman when DC butchered his storyline. I understand that writers are getting desperate for material for these decades-old characters, but that hardly gives them the right to end a character, even temporarily. It's completely a painfully obvious jumping-the-shark move on their part. If you're out of ideas, then just resign and let someone else take the helm.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Sad Goodbye to a Hero
A compilation of the aftermath of the Death of Captain America. It is about what happens to the heroes after the death of the greatest one. Its really sad but worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Killing and Resurrecting Comic Book Characters is Bad Writing
Cap will be back - and another attempt at true drama and poignancy aborted. He will join the Martian Manhunter (just wait), Barry Allen's Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Donna Troy and countless other superheroes who were "killed" only to be hokily brought back when it looked like a new surge in sales was needed. Comic book writers and editors: This has only been done right once, with the death of Superman. Please stop re-using this tired mechaninsm and simply write good stories. Making Death a revolving door renders what should be an ultimate sacrifice into a cynical gimmick. You can do better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Work from Leob
Bad news first its by Leob Good news its actually worth reading, there's no massive continuity errors many have come to expect from him. I really liked it and I hope you do too ... Read more

Product Description
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.
The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.

Born in North London, her father Robert was an arboriculturist in the London Borough of Camden, and her mother, Jenny, an actress who starred in Steptoe and Son and was once in a film with Ronnie Barker. Her younger brother Jerome was physically and mentally disabled (died when she was aged 14); and younger sister Genevieve was severely autistic. The family moved to a farm in Gloucestershire when Phillips was seven, and from aged nine she was raised in Ebbw Vale and Monmouth, Wales. Phillips played Suzuki violin from aged three, and piano from aged four. She started playing the harp from the age of 9, Initially educated at the private Hereford Cathedral School, Phillips was a semi-finalist in the BBCs Young Musician of the Year competition. She attended Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls and the Royal College of Music, London. Phillips was appointed Official Harpist to Prince Charles in 2004, replacing Catrin Finch. Phillips was the only musician to play at the wedding reception of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, performed at the wedding of Autumn Kelly and the Queens eldest grandchild, Peter Phillips; and featured in the first concert to be recorded in the ballroom of Buckingham Palace. In 2007 Claire Jones from Pembrokeshire took over the role. Presently living in St Briavels in Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, she teaches and plays harp professionally. In June 2009, Phillips and former boyfriend William Davies, 40, were brought in front of Cheltenham magistrates with three charges of house burglary on three houses...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=23044906 ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Top Notch information for Curriculum Development
I have taken several classes on curriculum development of my 12 years of teaching, but none of them, till now, used this book. This book provides a large quantity of information in a compressed amount of space. This book is very useful for amateurs and experts, alike. It steers you in the right direction to be able to great high quality, efficient, and useful curriculum. This book doesn't beat around the bush, it gets right to the point.

I would recommend this book to anyone attempting to write or rewrite curriculum.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Only Game in Town
If you are searching for something to help you understand the world of curriculum development in vocational technical education, there is really no other choice than Crunkilton and Finch's fifth edition. These authors have defined the field for over twenty years.

Curriculum development is really different in vocational technical education. The instructional delivery method often requires that substantial time expires between introducing a topic and completing its study. It may require four years before a student is fully competent in preparing dinner entrees or troubleshooting an internal combustion engine.Classroom settings are simply one of a number of different ways that career and technical educators get their points across.Hence, curriculum planning is vital in the field.

Crunkilton and Finch explore the CTE Curriculum in four sections: perspective, planning, defining content, and implementing.Sections are well thought out and explained. There are areas of weakness, owing to the publication date.As an example, such topics as national program standards and 'all aspects of the industry' are either not mentioned or given transitory treatments since they were emerging issues in the late nineties.

In summary, Curriculum Development in Vocational and Technical Education does the basics of curriculum planning very well. Like all books, its value is diminished somewhat by time, but application of additional timely references can overcome that shortcoming. I recommend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excelent Investment For All Educators
Of all the curriculum books I have used and examined this is by far the best book out there. In discussions with vocational educators around the world, I have found this book to be one of the most highly regardedinformational sources on curriculum development. A great resource tool forall educators, a must have for vocational educators. ... Read more
