Product Description
Publisher William M. Gaines always preferred the science fiction Comics of all his publications. Even though modest sellers, he kept at least on title going from 1950 until the end in 1956. These Comics continue the dystopian view of man, formed by companion title Weird Science. They deal with man & his foibles as he attempts to visit & colonise space, interact with alien species or live with atomic weapons. Despite their pessimism, they are also imaginative and darkly humorous. From 1952 writer Ray Bradbury's stories were adapted & several are feature here. Other science fiction writers were also sampled without their knowledge, adding to the sophistication of stories on offer. Add into the mix some of the most beautiful visions of 1950s science fiction from artists Al Feldstein, Wally Wood, Al Williamson, Harvey Kurtzman, Joe Orlando, Jack Kamen & others. Weird Fantasy represents some of the finest science fiction stories ever illustrated. ... Read more

Product Description
Two-Fisted Tales was a bi-monthly, anthology war comic published by EC Comics in the early 1950s. The title originated in November 1950 when Harvey Kurtzman suggested to William Gaines that they publish an adventure comic. Kurtzman became the editor of Two-Fisted Tales, and with the advent of the Korean War soon narrowed the focus to war stories. The book often took an anti-war stance. The title hit newsstands with its November/December 1950 issue, and ceased publication February 1955, producing a total of 24 issues. Years after its demise, the title was reprinted in its entirety. This is reissue / re-printed by Russ Cochran, Two-Fisted Tales, No. 13- Oct. 1995. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Remarkable classics, but...
There's no questioning the timelessness of these classic stories, and it's wonderful that they are collected here in this great compilation, but is the set, released in 2009, really worth $1000? One seller here on Amazon is selling a used copy for nearly a grand (see above). This is absolutely ridiculous.

1-0 out of 5 stars NON-EXISTANT!!!
RUSS COCHRAN KEEPS SENDING OFF HIS NEWSLETTER AND [...] STILL RUNS THE SAME CRAPPY PARAGRAPH AND NO WHERE IS THERE ANY NOTE AS TO WHEN AND IF THIS SERIES WILL EVER BE COMPLETED. FOR INSTANCE, THE 'TALES FROM THE CRYPT' SERIES WAS STOPPED 1 ISSUE SHORT OF COMPLETION. AFTER PAYING 35-50 DOLLARS PLUS FOR EACH VOLUME, YOU HAVE INVESTED A TIDY SUM OF MONEY AND YOU DONT HAVE THE WHOLE RUN. WHAT DISRESPECT AND BALONEY THIS IS TO THOSE OF US WHO PINNED OUR HOPES (AND HARD EARNED DOLLARS) ON THIS SERIES. I HAVE LOST FAITH IN RUSS COCHRAN BECAUSE OF THIS FIASCO. OTHERWISE, THIS SET WOULD DESERVE 5 STARS FOR PRODUCTION VALUES, BUT AS FOR PRODUCTION ITSELF, 1 STAR IS BEING MORE THAN GENEROUS. IF YOU DONT MIND GETTING A HALF LOAF OF BREAD THEN GO AHEAD, OTHERWISE... ... Read more
