Product Description

Successful talk show host, singer, songwriter, actress, and author Kathie Lee Gifford has come up with a delightful book for children! Lucy Goosy is carefully reviewing her list of animals to invite for her birthday party. She has to make sure to invite the right guests so that her party will be perfect. But when she focuses on everyone’s bad qualities, instead of good, she discovers that there is no one to attend! With a little help from the Wise Owl, Lucy Goosy discovers it is our special characteristics that make us unique. Written in adorable sing-song rhyme, Kathie Lee Gifford’s new picture book for children teaches us that we are all special because we are different!

This endearing book comes with a CD, where the accompanying song “Party Animals” is performed by the author so kids can read and sing along with the music.

Product Description
Just When I Thought I’d Dropped My Last Egg is Kathie Lee Gifford’s triumphant laugh-out-loud celebration of forging ahead with gusto, even long after we’re old enough to know better. Age, after all, isn’t a number, it’s a state of mind, and being fertile isn’t just about having babies, it’s about being passionate and creative. Writing with the candor of a friend who knows where the bodies are buried, Kathie Lee reveals the truth every woman of a certain age knows but won’t admit: that we love our kids every second of every day but are counting the minutes till they’re ready to go off to college, that even though gravity is a constant force, not all parts of our bodies droop at the same rate, and that life and show business share one simple rule: “Don’t sit by the phone and wait for a man or a job.” Full of warmth, humor, and down-to-earth wisdom, this wonderful book is a delectable read for grown-ups of all ages.Amazon.com Review
Book Description
From Kathie Lee Gifford, beloved television host and bestselling author of I Can’t Believe I Said That, comes a funny, candid, and personal collection of essays.

This smart and witty collection of opinions, observations, and anecdotes covers a broad range of personal topics. Kathie Lee Gifford’s stories are often funny, sometimes heartfelt, and always compelling--think Nora Ephron’s I Feel Bad About My Neck meets Carol Burnett.

No subject is off-limits: talking to her kids about sex, being married to Frank Gifford, embarrassing professional gaffes, run-ins with celebrities (of which there are many), the harsh and funny realities of aging. It’s all here, told with intelligence, grace, and comedic wit. Written by Gifford’s own hand, this highly original and readable volume will make you laugh out loud as you reach for the phone to share one of these charming, quirky, and colorful observations.

Amazon.com Exclusive: An Essay by Kathy Lee Gifford

Too Pooped To Peak

Recently Frank co-hosted with me on the Today Show when Hoda took a much deserved day off.

Now, it’s important to understand for the purpose of this essay that this is the way Frank and I met. We were colleagues at Good Morning America in 1982. Frank used to sit in for David Hartman when he was gone and I used to sit in for Joan Lunden when she was either gone or having babies, which was often.

Later, when I joined The Morning Show with Regis, we continued this arrangement. But now it’s 2009 and much has changed, although there’s no need to discuss my weight.

The point is, instead of being “two marshmallows sitting by the fire” as a Washington Post critic called us when we hosted the 1988 nighttime Olympics, we can now best be described as “two old farts lucky to be anywhere.”

In fairness, Frank has only visited me at the Today Showtwice in the year since I joined, and has never co-hosted with me, so he’s not familiar with the daily routine, even though I have warned him profusely:

1.We arrive at 7:30 a.m. at my dressing room
2.We then proceed to hair and make-up
3.At 8:15 a.m. we have a production meeting with the producers to go over the topics we all agree should be discussed during our Host Chat at the top of the 10 a.m. hour
4.At 9 a.m. we return to the dressing room to dress for the show.
5.At 9:45 a.m. we get our microphones and proceed to the studio

Well, we did steps 1 and 2 perfectly. In fact, I thought at the time that we had done step 3 perfectly too. It wasn’t until we arrived back at my dressing room and Frank began reading production notes, laughing and commenting on them, that I realized Frank had had no idea that the production meeting was for him, too. That is when I started sweating profusely. But I needn’t have worried. After all, Frank is an old pro and very comfortable in front of the camera. But this was different. This was us in front of the camera and America likes nothing better than a good marital train wreck. Well, the one thing that’s for sure about live television is that it starts when it’s supposed to whether you’re ready or not. Everyone agreed Frank looked adorable as we sat down. At 78, he still fills a pair of tight jeans better than any other tight end in history. And his crisp white shirt and blue blazer basically bellowed, “that’s right, I’m hip and I’m happening.”

We began discussing Michael Phelps, the great Olympic swimmer, and the recent brouhaha over the published picture of him at the unfortunate end of a marijuana bong. Frank made some insightful comments about the temptations young world class athletes have to deal with. Then I asked him, “You’ve always told me that there is an optimum peak in an athlete’s career... what did you tell me it is? 26?”

“Yeah,” Frank answered. “26 to 30. That’s when everything comes together physically, athletically, and psychologically. That’s basically when an athlete’s at his peak.”

Well, I couldn’t help myself.

“You mean I missed your peak?”

(The crew began to chuckle which is always an excellent sign that I’m on to something.)

Frank blushed, “Well...”

I interrupted, “I mean it sure looked like a peak... sure felt like a peak. What the hell was it?”

“You are so bad,” Frank sighed, shaking his head in resignation.

I couldn’t agree with him more.

P.S. I can’t tell you how many people have commented to Frank about his “peak” since that fateful day. Way too many told him that they had personally witnessed his peak many, many times. I thought that was funny. But it was the many others who told him, “Don’t worry, Frank, you missed Kathie’s too.” That really made us laugh. Sadly, laughing is all old farts are left with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kathie Lee Gifford's book
I love Kathie Lee...........she is hilarious and it comes out in this book!I even read portions to my husband that I thought he would get a kick out of!It thoroughly kept me entertained the whole time I read the book! Definitely worth the read!!

2-0 out of 5 stars BOOK
I have never really cared for Kathie Lee Gifford, but I had heard that this book was funny.
It was NOT what I expected at all... not that funny and again, Kathie Lee's EGO came shining through.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just When I Thought I'd Dropped My Last Egg
Kathie Lee is a very clever and bright gal. Her essays are fun to read and each one is a gem. She has become today's Erma Bombeck.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, light-hearted book
Kathie Lee Gifford's latest book is a charming read, perfect for summer nights out on the patio. She's had some wonderful experiences, yet she also has had her share of trials and tribulations as well. I have always thought she was so persecuted in the press because she was, and is, a happy person. So many of her critics cannot understand her inner happiness and vilify her for it. FORGETABUTIT, Kathie Lee, and just keep writing these uplifting memoirs! I especially like the one about her son turning 15 and communicating solely in grunts, as I am going through that right now! It made me feel like I am not alone!
Thank you, Kathie Lee!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just When I.......Great Observations!
Kathie makes a good number of observations that people need to think about and if we thought about these points and acted on thm the world would be much nicer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars inspiring...
This is the companion to the CD Gentle Grace and it is a nice devotional book to use either while listening to the CD or alone. It speaks volumes...Kathie Lee is truly an inspiration with the way she channels her talent into helping others. Her proceeds for this project and the CD go to help children's charities and that is admirable.

I love my copy of both the CD and the book and highly recommend them both.

2-0 out of 5 stars kathie lee schloppy
As usual, this is a bit of a self serving book about Kathie Lee and her trials and tribulations. I do like Christian books that are hopeful and believe in the Lord, but this is sort of desperate KL stuff because basically she has no career to speak of. It's about frank's cheating, her two darling children, and her troubles in life. But it get monotonous and really isn't uplifting or optimistic, rather sort of self pitying in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars A precious book from a tremendous talent...
Kathie Lee's "Gentle Grace" is a beautiful work of inspiration and hope...it is a companion to her fabulous CD by the same name. They go hand-in-hand to share with others the tremendous faith Mrs. Gifford has. Both of these items are truly a blessing.

Kathie Lee has always been a talented, special celebrity but first and foremost she is a woman dedicated to the Lord, to her faith, family and friends. She's a super role model for all of us.

I highly recommend this book and also the companion CD! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars KLG is my idol
SO tired of people ripping Kathie Lee. This is a woman who fought to get where she is and she deserves everything that has happened to her. I hope her faith and her charity keep her in good spirits. KLG knows that only our most holy and all-forgiving God can judge her. The immature writings of deluded misanthropes really burns me. I abhor them for their insolence. They've destined themselves to a life of suffering because of their negative reviews her on Amazon. God will never forgive them.

5-0 out of 5 stars James Shock's Santa Claus poem is a new holiday classic
James Shock's Santa Claus poem is what makes the purchase worthwhile.I hope to see it published somewhere else, and I'd love to see more of his stuff.Someone should publish a collection of his work.Keep it up!

3-0 out of 5 stars There's an original gem hidden here
Most of the stories are trite, except for the highly imaginative and quick-witted "The Day Before the Night Before Christmas."It's worth the price to have this special soon-to-be classic in your children'slibrary.Author James Shock captures the spirit of the season with humorand warmth.A must read for children of all ages.

She's perky and bubbly and ALL the things that have made herone of America's most popular talk-show hostesses and hawker of familyvalues. Why should her book be any different? Kathie Lee walks theline between upbeat spin and candor that seems calculated to becharming. So you'll come away from this book feeling as if you havespent a lot of time with the TV Kathie Lee without being invited todinner. If that's enough for you, you'll like this book, which waswritten before Kathie Lee's daughter was born AND before the sweatshopscandal that sent our heroine to Washington and her husband, sportscaster Frank Gifford, into New York's garment district withhandfuls of hundred-dollar bills to distribute to the downtrodden. ... Customer Reviews (2)

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the better autobiographies.
This is one of the better autobiographies to read in my opinion.Kathie Lee may be sugary sweet, but she doesn't sugar coat it in her book.

I find her interesting, because I think there are and have been many women that tried to have a career and fame that she has had.Yet when she was told at an early age that she couldn't sing, she took on the "Oh yeah? I'll show you." attitude.

In all honesty she is a good example of why trying until you succeed works. She has it all and even after bad press she still has it all.

She goes into detail about growing up with parents that didn't tolerate bad manners, a non-appreciation of family and God, and still fell head over heels for a surfer named Yancy. She saw the false side of show business before entering it herself. She married young, and then went on to have a few relationships before the "Giff" that showed her what the difference between being a trophy and a treasure.Of course would the book be the same if she didn't share stories about Regis, Cody and Cassidy?

Great book to read at the beach or by the pool.If you don't come away wanting to do something more with your life then you didn't read the whole thing.

3-0 out of 5 stars Strangly Appealing Bio
As a liberal feminist living is San Francisco, I have few venues to sharemy appreciation for Kathie Lee Gifford. Although I suspect most of her fansare wholesome, All American Christians living in the Midwest and the South,I too find her sugary, self-absorbed persona irresistable. Why? While somany of today's celebrities have images that seem somehow manufactured,Kathie Lee breaks down the fourth wall, on her show and in this book, bysharing all her intimate secrets, some of them embarassingly tame. Perhapsmore than any other tv personality, she is a reflection of a time that isfading from modern life: a 50s childhood of church on Sunday and summers atthe beach, with parents that threatened to disown her if she slept with herboyfriend prior to marriage. The childhood reminiscenses in this book arecharming, as are her accounts of motherhood. But Kathie Lee proves herselfas a normal human being when she recounts her mismatched first marriage to"the perfect Christian catch" and her disillusioning experiencesat Oral Roberts University. She emerges, unlike so many of today'scelebrities, as a woman who has had to question herself and her values. ... Read more
