Product Description
The New York Times bestselling memoir from one of the world's best-loved actresses

In this candid, insightful, and\ unconventional memoir, Goldie Hawn invites us to join her in an inspirational look back at the people, places, and events that have touched her. It is the spiritual journey of a heart in search of enlightenment.

With her trademark effervescence, Goldie delivers a personal look at private and powerful events that carried her through life: her father's spontaneity; her mother's courage; and the joy of being a daughter, a sister, a parent, and a lover. She writes about her childhood dreams of becoming a ballerina. She takes us on a tour of her go-go years in 1960s New York City, the phenomenon of TV's Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, her Oscar-winning debut in Cactus Flower and Hollywood stardom.

She writes intimately about the challenges of love, anger and fear, and the importance of compassion and integrity. She speaks openly about her family, her partner Kurt Russell, her children, her faith, her curiosity for that which she doesn't yet know, and her thirst for knowledge. Most of all, it is a trip back through a life well lived by a woman well loved. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very interesting
Goldie, she is truely a breath of fresh air. Her honesty is to be admired. She's always just wanted to be happy. She has found it. How she finds it...it's in the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars An intimate discovery for a fan
I have been a fan of Goldie's since I was a child in the 70's.I was looking forward to reading her autobiography because I expected she would discuss at length the "behind the scenes" details on making the movies she's known for such as Private Benjamin, Best Friends, Seems Like Old Times, Overboard, etc.I was not disappointed at all to soon learn that this was about her life, apart from her "job" as an actor.I had no idea that this woman has led such an incredibly rich life, without considering her films. Reading about her childhood, her relationships with her father, mother, sister, partner, and children were all moving and revealing. What was also interesting was her search for answers about life, and what she has learned along the way.I was surprised how wise this person is, and I have a newfound respect for Ms. Hawn.I applaud her for all work she has done off-screen in addition to on.I was even brought to tears on more than one occassion in some very touching and well-written parts of her story. So, although I wanted to read all the hollywood gossip about her working relationships with Chevy Chase, Warren Beatty, Meryl Streep, Woody Allen, etc., I fully appreciated the story she chose to tell instead about her personal journey through life. And I didn't want it to end.I love Goldie even more now!

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE GOLDIE...by author of EXPLOSION IN PARIS
I love Goldie because she's real, genuine and has lived her life that way. There's a lot more under that blonde crown than she's given credit for. I love her true, positive spirit!!A GREAT READ!A MUST READ! TRUE INSPIRATION!!!Linda Masemore Pirrung, author of EXPLOSION IN PARIS....EXPLOSION IN PARIS

The item arrived on time and in the specified conditions. The audiobook is interesting.Goldie Hawn narrates it and it is a light, entertaining audibook. Not the 'gossipy' kind of biography.Goldie has a very nice voice and walks readers through some of her experiences in a friendly, warm way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Goldie Socks is Pure Gold!
A wonderful twist on a classic fairytale that is sure to delight children (and librarians) of all ages. Great way to get children engaged in learning about books and the library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Read Aloud
I am a new school librarian.I read this story to my first and second graders during the first few weeks of school. They loved it!Kids are still asking (in December!) to check it out.It ties in nicely with classroom teachers explaining that some books are "too hard," "too easy," or "just right."

5-0 out of 5 stars Goldie Socks
I really liked this book for my third graders.A friend of mine had the teaching unit for the book which was well done.I did a mini-unit with two other versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears which the students really enjoyed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Teacher's Grade: B-
This is a cute book that can tie in with any elementary classroom's first trip to a school library. The pictures are entertaining with text that is simplistic enough to engage a kindergarten student while punny enough to appeal to a 4th-5th grader. This is not a book that kids will want to hear over and over again since there is very little depth to the story, but it is definitely worth at least reading once/school year.

5-0 out of 5 stars What an adorable story!
My daughter is in the 2nd grade and this book is right up her alley in the reading level, and a cute story that kept her interest. She was always excited to get back to reading it (which is a plus)! The author has a great way of connecting with even the older generation. My daughter read this book out loud to me and I had a good laugh at the reaction the children's Mother had when they were asking for a new puppy. It was the same reaction that I had!I love how they call the youngest child in the family "The Bean" and just the overall way the author tells the story. She even gives tips on working with dogs at the end of her books. We will definitely be buying more books by Ellen Miles.

5-0 out of 5 stars An exact picture of our fosters!
I am 12 and I love this book, it illustrates really what people do when they foster dogs, I have no dogs of my own, but me and my family foster dogs instead. I like this series of books, because it sounds like when we fostered our dogs. We even named our first foster dog after the dog in one of her books: Buddy! The only thing I wish the books had is pictures. But I like it all the same. So I definently would refer this book to anyone. You will not be dissapointed. (I have all her other books in the Puppy Place series and I rated them too.)

5-0 out of 5 stars A 4th Grade Student Review
Goldie is a good dog loving book. If you want a good happy book you found the right one. I rated this book five stars because I love this series and there are many fun adventures in this story. The people who are fostering Goldie are Charles, Lizzy, and there mom & dad.(Which is very nice) When the Petterson's find an old couple who is working to get a puppy a disaster happens. Will the Petersons ever find a forever home for Goldie? I hope you choose to read this book and you will be pleased I sure was. ~Lilly

5-0 out of 5 stars Our six year old loves this book and so do we!
I think this book is just delightful. For any family who has a dog, wants a dog, loves dogs or even just likes them, this is a wonderful book to read aloud.Goldie is the first in a series of six books called the Puppy Place. We now have 5 of the books!First, our daughter thought Goldie was the best (and the fluffiest), then she liked Snowball, then Shadow--you get the idea. What we like about the books is that they are not too grown up, but do contain some "real world" concepts, very appropriately presented. For example, the youngest child in the family, Adam (but his nickname is The Bean), is adopted. The author mentions this matter of factly andmoves on.By the way, The Bean is so sweet. He likes to pretend he is puppy and eat from a bowl on the floor! These sweet books also have an element of suspense: where will the foster puppy go when it is time?Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Currently my [...]favorite series of books...
and she doesn't even like dogs! There are 4 books in this series, she is on the 3rd one and has loved each one. She is in [...]and had no trouble reading or understanding the books, so I think the age range given here (9 to 12) is a little misleading, The plot is very straighforward, which is why she is able to read them. We recently got a puppy (she wanted a kitten, but her dad is allergic) and she's learned alot about puppies, how to care for them and why they do what they do, so even though this isn't great literature it's helpful in that regard. One odd think that she had noticed - the main characters have a baby brother who is 3 - but can't talk and crawls around on the floor - her brother is 3 and he's certainly not like that. I don't know if the author just doesn't know about small children or the child has some disability that the book doesn't talk about, but my daughter always brings it up as "weird." ... Read more

Goldie Locks has

chicken pox;

from head to toe

were polka dots....

When Goldie Locks spies her first spot, her mother knows it must be chicken pox. Soon after, a steady stream of storybook favorites -- including the Three Bears and Little Bo Peep -- stop by to wish Goldie Locks a speedy recovery. But how will Goldie get well when her little brother just won't stop teasing her?Amazon.com Review
As if the itching and fever of chicken pox isn't bad enough, poor little Goldie Locks can't visit with her friends Red Riding Hood and Bo Peep, and her younger brother is positively ruthless in his teasing. What's a fairy tale gal to do? Wait for Bro's karmic comeuppance, that's what. And if the law of traveling germs holds true, the uppance will come quickly.

Erin Dealey's rhyming lark plays havoc with favorite storybook characters, from Henny Penny to Jack (Goldie's brother calls out the window: "Jack, be nimble! Jack, be quick! / Come and see! My sister's sick!"). Illustrator Hanako Wakiyama's Goldie Locks, with her big, spotted face and tiny blonde braids, is the picture of wretchedness, while her naughty tow-headed sibling is fiendish in his bursting good health (for now, anyway). The distinctive artwork in retro reds and oranges is chock-full of witty details and child-friendly perspectives. Young readers who have suffered at the hands of bratty brothers and sisters will identify immediately with Goldie's frustration and cheer when Little Brother finally gets his just and speckled deserts. 4-0 out of 5 stars Cute story
Poor Goldie Locks. She has chicken pox.

We rhyme our way through the large cast of Mother Goose figures and one annoying baby brother (who, after being so annoying to his sister, including playing connect-the-dots on her face, eventually gets sick himself, a just desert if I ever saw one!)

Cute, retro illustrations and nice rhymes. I'm not as thrilled with the book as my nieces are, but they like it enough to justify giving it the fourth star.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book ever!
By far the favorite book of my 7 and 4 yr. olds! They both can recite every single word.Buy this book, you won't be disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars refreshingly fun
I have to give this book 5 stars in every way! The illustrations featuring a mid-century modern house are to die for and the storyline is funny and it rhymes. Kids seem to gravitate toward this book, even if they don't know what Chicken Pox are anymore! =)

5-0 out of 5 stars Goldie and the Three Bears
Anyone who has a two year old in their life "who knows exactly what she likes and what she doesn't" needs to get this book-a variation that improves on the original Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This curly headed moppet who can't find a friend "she can really truly love" will steal your heart for sure and have your little one asking for reading after reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars major favorite
This has been my 8-year-old son's favorite book for many months. It sets the story of Goldilocks in a recognizable American neighborhood and changes the plot to one much more relevant to contemporary children. Plus, it is now about how difficult and important it is to make a new friend. For my son, with significant sensory issues -- just like Goldie -- and social difficulties, this is the fairy tale of choice. Thank you, Ms. Stanley!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sugary sweet and I don't care!
This has to be one of the cutest, sweetest things I have read in a long time. I just randomly pulled it from the library shelf, and yet it held my class in rapt attention.

It's a creative and touching spin on the story of the Goldilocks. Instead of the usual brat, we have a sweet little girl who happens to know what she wants and simply won't settle for anything else. This, however, leads to loniliness that surprisingly ends when she is dropped off at the wrong bus stop.

Enter the story of the porridge and the bears and what-not, and this becomes a hilarious and heart-warming story of friendship.

The pictures are charming, and I love the little "extra" dialogue given.

The kids laughed, I laughed, and everyone was happy. Great, great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Goldie
I am writting this review for my seven year old sister,Taylor. Here is what she has to say about this book: "I got this from the library at school and I LOVED it! It was a book-sensation celebration. It was a very cute story. I think it's better than the real version of Goldie Locks. In this book Goldie is picky and I usually don't like picky people, but she is picky in a funny, funny way. I love it! I am so happy I found it on amazon.com and now I want to buy it to keep."

5-0 out of 5 stars One little nit pick
Our daughter, now 5, loves reading this book. The resoluion of the story just seemed much more real and satisfying to her that the traditional version. This book and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity are on heavy bedtime rotation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely helpful with my conversion process!
I absolutely love this book along with its companion volume Meaning & Mitzvah, as I have found them both to be indispensable over these past few months.

Writing this as a person who was not born a Jew and is in the middle of the conversion process I cannot express my gratitude enough for the fine work that Rabbi Goldie has done.

I'm certainly not suggesting that these books were written with a convert in mind, but as I write this I'm beginning to think that maybe in some ways she did have converts in mind. What I mean is this book is called reclaiming but I'll bet you for a lot of Jews who pick it up it's really about rebirth or maybe even conversion, in that probably some of the Jews by birth who pick up and read this book actually begin a journey. A Journey of conversion into a new more heartfelt spiritual Judaism, one that resonates at a personal level and which maybe very different than the Judaism of their childhood

At any rate I digress because I have no idea and so I will take it back to me.

I have been and I'm sure will continue to be very satisfied with the thoroughness of my instruction via the conversion process, but having said that reading and working with the material in this book has brought my conversion experience to an entirely different level. Reading this book has allowed me to begin working with practices slowly and gradually in an honest and heartfelt way and has truly enriched the conversion process for me.

This book has allowed me to take the more academic/official learning accomplished in my conversion course and explore it and apply it very personally in my own life. For example as I take on more of the Jewish life outside of Temple Rabbi Goldie's book provides me with a context for taking on new practices and rituals in an easy-to-understand yet extremely personal way.

This book has helped me begin to live life more Jewishly, for example following the suggestions in her book I had a small ceremony where I put up a Mezuzah in my home and it has dramatically changed how I relate to the space in that I now treat it in a more sacred fashion. I've also begun wearing a Kippah both in and outside of Temple, and the deciding factor was the way Rabbi Goldie presented it as a practice of mindfulness (my term not hers) in that it was a tool that would change not only how I related to others but how they related to me.

Oh, I could go on and on, but I'm sure you all get my point the book is excellent and I highly recommend it, and whether your an old Jew, a new Jew or not a Jew, this book is filled with insightful information that not only makes living a life more Jewishly, not only easy but also enjoyable and truly transformative.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enlightenment through applied Practice ~ This book will teach the reader easily applicable wisdom for today's challenging world
Rabbi Milgram's books are a delight to read: Reclaiming Judaism as a Spiritual Practice-Holy Days and Shabbat, and Meaning of Mitzvah: Reclaiming Judaism through Daily Practices of Prayer, God, Torah, Hebrew, Mitzvot & Peoplehood and in my opinion are theological classics. Rabbi Milgram presents the liturgy in such a warm hearted, scholarly, and alive way that I must tell you I could not put the books down and was disappointed when I finished them thirsting for more insight, knowledge, and integration. Rabbi Milgram has a natural talent delivering the information to the reader in such a flowing manner that one can easily travel with her on the journey toward spiritual development and enlightenment. I highly recommend these beautiful books for spiritual insight, clarity, and daily inspiration. I reference Rabbi Milgram's teachings often for the wisdom of her spiritual guidance. She is truly a modern day Jewish heroine and as you read her words you will recognize she is truly a modern day sage.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is a great book
this is a great book!easy to read but not superficial.it is filled with ways to get to the heart of what is beautiful about jewish practice.the title sounds very ambitious, and the book definitely delivers!
this book would make a great bar/bat mitzvah gift, or for someone who is looking to re-connect with judaism.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, Makes Judaism Relevant and Meaningful, 5 stars
This is the way into Judaism so many of us have been searching for - life-touching. The author is a great teacher, she explains things clearly in a way that empowers you to figure out how you might want to do Jewish in your own life. She's not trying to push any particular brand of Judaism on the reader, very refreshing.
Toxified as a young adult by Hebrew school, now, as an adult, when I was gifted with Meaning and Mitzvah, I couldn't put it down. Last year, when I read R'Milgram's first book, my reaction was the same. I give her books as Hanukkah, wedding and bar/bat mitzvah presents and to those intermarried or considering converting to Judaism. ... Read more

But the energetic and quirky illustrations suggest that there's more to the story than Goldie's perception of it.Little kids will love laughing at Goldie and her little brother and will enjoy feeling just slightly superior. This is one you'll read again and again and enjoy it each and every time.

Product Description
Peter Goldie opens the path to a deeper understanding of our emotional lives through a lucid philosophical exploration of this surprisingly neglected topic. Drawing on philosophy, literature and science, Goldie considers the roles of culture and evolution in the development of our emotional capabilities. He examines the links between emotion, mood, and character, and places the emotions in the context of consciousness, thought, feeling, and imagination. He explains how it is that we are able to make sense of our own and other people's emotions, and how we can explain the very human things which emotions lead us to do. He argues that it is only from the personal point of view that thoughts, reasons, feelings, and actions come into view. This fascinating book gives an accessible but penetrating exploration of an important but mysterious subject. Any reader interested in emotion and its role in understanding our lives will find much to think about here. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bedtime Stories to Keep you up all night...
I love Leslie Kelly. I need to be upfront with that. I don't care if she's writing sexy bits for Harlequin Blaze or dark romantic suspense as Leslie Parrish, this woman can write. I especially love her wicked sense of humor in the BLAZING BEDTIME STORIES series. Her entry for Volume V -- A PRINCE OF A GUY (sadly the rumors say this is the last one Les will be writing for this series), she gives a most interesting twist to the story of "The Prince and The Pauper." Leslie created the "alternate reality" of Elatyria for her entries in this series. A land where fairy tales are reality, Elatyria is a parallel world to Earth with "border crossings" flung in various places.

I must put a LIQUID ALERT WARNING on this story due to the laughs and gigglesnorts. Queen Verona is a control freak. When Prince Ruprecht, who is a little light in his loafers, hasn't returned for his coronation, she sends Olivia Vanderbrook, Captain of the Amazon Guards, to San Francisco (in the human world) to retrieve him. Rafe Cabot more than makes up for Ruprecht in the testosterone department. Carpenter by day, lead singer in a band by night, Rafe could be Ruprecht's twin, and Olivia mistakes him for the prince. Olivia is one damsel who doesn't need rescuing, except from her self-imposed lonely existence and Rafe wants to be the knight in shining armour who teaches her all about the big "O." With twists, turns, and lots of blazing heat, this novella is a fast, fun, and terrific read.

I'm not familiar with Jennifer LaBrecque's work but I have to say, based on GOLDIE AND THE THREE BROTHERS, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up one of her books. She has fun recreating the Goldilocks tale. And while Jake might be a gruff old bear at heart, he's certainly sexy enough to hibernate with. Goldie Dawkins works for a Georgia winery in the marketing department. The founder retired and left the business to his three nephews: workaholic Chad, sports nut Scott, and the super salesman Jake. Each brother has his own area of expertise. Goldie is hired to develop a new marketing plan. She's also on the rebound from breaking up with her long-time boyfriend. She wanted marriage. He wanted to live together. Jake, the inveterate bachelor thinks Goldie is bad news and vows to stay away from her. Goldie's "been there done that" when it comes to men like Jake. Unfortunately, their common sense forgot to mention their differences to their hormones. Another fast read, and one that left a smile on my face.

5-0 out of 5 stars two amusing well written but heated romances
"A Prince of a Guy" by Leslie Kelly. In the Kingdom of Grand Falls on another planet, vain widow Queen Verona sends the Captain of the Amazonian Royal Guard warrior Olivia Vanderbrook to Earth to bring home the heir to the throne Prince Ruprecht. She has few clues beyond fast food warnings and San Francisco. Her inquiry leads her to carpenter and rock musician Rafe Cabot, who could be the royal's twin although Olivia believes he is the real deal in more ways than one.

"Goldie and the Three Brothers" by Jennifer LaBrecque.Ardmore Winery is run by three brothers while marketing is done by Goldie Dawkins. In the Georgia mountains she is to meet one of the trio Chad "workaholic" Malone at the remote cabin. The hike is strenuous and the storm make sit worse, but she arrives at the remote cabin only to find Jake Malone there to greet her.Attracted but keeping their distance, the pair cannot avoid one another as lust and perhaps love wins over caution.

Though different subgenres, these are two amusing well written but heated (they are Blazes at bedtime) romances.

1-0 out of 5 stars book in TERRIBLE condition
I was VERY disappointed with the quality of this book. The actual story was wonderful, but the condition of the book was horrible. The seller stated it was in very good condition and it was in terrible condition. The pages were crumpled the binding cracked and overall the book looked very weathered.I will NEVER order from them again! The seller's name is:New_Chapter_Recycling_Inc
It was very fraudulent of this company to advertise that the book was in VERY GOOD condition, when in actuality it was in POOR condition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Made a Reader Out of My Daughter!!!
Although my daughter always enjoyed books (and had many, many classic children's books around her since birth), due to dyslexia, she tended to struggle with reading in school---and from frustration, began turning away from reading altogether (either a book was at her level, but painfully boring, or interesting subject matter, but too difficult for her to decipher).

These books changed ALL of that! Because she found them so completely enthralling, she was quite willing to invest the extra time and energy into really reading and deciphering them. By slowing down, she developed her own coping mechanisms for her disability.

One day, she brought one of the books to school and after showing it to her reading teacher, read a new chapter for her. Even her reading teacher (a woman with considerable tenure) was STUNNED by how well my daughter read. The result of these books is that my daughter (just 5 months after discovering this series) now reads at grade level---and can't get enough of them.

I'll admit (like any book series) these are hardly great literature, but they've completely changed my reluctant reader---and she's now moving on to more challenging, classic fare.

2-0 out of 5 stars So-so books for elementary school girls
These Weather Fairy books by Daisy Meadows (hey... I wouldn't put my real name on them either) are wholly unremarkable.I suppose they're harmless enough for K-3 grade kids, but there's nothing to distinguish them. The writing is tediously simplistic, the stories are unimaginative, and the illustrations uninspiring.I read a couple to my kids and they never asked for them again... and they ask for everything again.

This may seem harsh criticism for books so obviously targeted at young girls, but compare these to some of the exception children's literature out there (H. A. Rey, Beatrix Potter, Maurice Sendak, Ludwig Bemelmans, Dr. Seuss, Kay Thompson, Arnold Lobel, etc., etc., etc) and their mediocrity becomes quite clear.Something intended to encourage kids to read doesn't have to aim so low.I'd argue for the advantages of the opposite approach.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally!!!
It had been a struggle to get my first grader interested in reading for pleasure rather than because she was required to, until we discovered Daisy Meadows... now she constantly has her nose in one of the Weather Fairies books! We can't wait for more to be published!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Series
My daughter loves this series of books - the biggest problem we have is that she won't stop after one chapter. She's 5, so we're reading them to her now, but soon she'll be re-reading them herself. We started with book 1 of the Rainbow Fairies and are now on the Weather Fairies Series.I highly recommend them! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Story Worth Telling
This sweet little story tells the tale of an artist who loves what she does - carving wooden dolls, handpainting them, and selling them at a local store. It's a simple story, no dragons or wizards, but the tale is one that many independant designers/artists will relate to and will want to read to their children.

The main character, Goldie, lives alone and works very hard on something she is passionate about. She deals with so many feelings... Being lonely at times, others not always "getting" her way of thinking, misunderstood for her need to stick to detail and quality, shy about her work, living life on a tight budget, unwilling to compromise on quality, guilt associated with making a purchase, daily dealings with suppliers and retailers, sleeping until noon and working in her nightgown with just tea and a simple bun as food, and many other typical feelings and situations of the crafter/artist are woven into this story. It's very sweet and most of all, REAL.

It's so wonderful to read a story like this because not all parents are working outside of the home - some work from home as artists, designers, carpenters, etc. and live from paycheck to paycheck, but are happy because they truly LOVE what they do. Just like little Goldie. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I do not have children, and enjoyed this sweet book and have added it to my library so I can share it with my future little ones.

I'd like to add that the illustrations are adorable. The book is small in size and the illustrations are only in black and white, but this book isn't about delivering pow! bam! boom! it's about delivering heart and soul. And that is does VERY well.

5-0 out of 5 stars A children's story?Not!
Goldie the dollmaker continues her parents' profession, seeking to free dolls from blocks of wood, forming and clothing them and painting on their faces the heartbreaking smile that makes anyone who sees a Goldie Rosenzweig doll want to buy it.Handsome Omus the carpenter is exactly her age, but perhaps she is better understood by old Mr. Solomon, the shopkeeper who sells her dolls, and she truly needs affinity with another artist, even if that artist visits her only in a dream ... This is a truly inspirational and beautiful story that would make a wonderful gift for any artist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beauty Reveals A Crime
M.B. Goffstein created an exquisite universe in her children's books which explore what it means to be an artist, a craftsman and a human being.Anyone who has seen Schubert dancing to keep warm or struggled with a child becoming independent as explored in Two Piano Tuners or has experienced the aging of a loved one as reflected in Noah's Ark can only marvel at the delicacy and seriousness of these "children's" book. Each and every book, except maybe Natural History are written and illustrated exquisitely in a minimalist style which strips to its essence life and line. One of the joys of my second group of children's lives is enjoying the trove of Goffstein's left at home by their big sister. It is simply inexplicable that these exquisite books are out of print. This is a real crime.Perhaps the answer is to bring them all together as was done with the George and Martha stories, but much would be lost because the size of the books seems integral to their power. But for anyone who has not experienced this author/illustrator start here and clamour for more.Perhaps the gods of publishing will listen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Small and perfect.
I am so glad to see one of Brooke Goffstein's books back in print!!All of her books are small treasures of perfectly and simply realized stories that go along so well with the simple yet rich line drawings that accompanythem.I always find myself crying or close to it at the end of thesestories which is a little hard to explain to my children if I am readingthem "Natural History" or "My Noah's Ark"!I haven'tread "Goldie the Dollmaker" to my children yet, it's still minealone to cherish. If you've ever made or cared for anything with a greatdeal of love and attention to the fineness of details than you willunderstand Goldie. She starts off feeling as if she lives in "herparent's house" and is continuing "their" work of makingdolls. These things don't truly belong to her until after she looks intoher heart after being inspired by a kindred artist spirit in a dream.Thisstory is a tiny gift from heaven. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Rabbi Goldie
This book is a true source of inspiration and information! For years I have struggled, wondering if hebrew school was the answer towards my childrens spiritual and educational jewish journey, always knowingsomething was missing. This book tells you everything that is missing, and is a great supplement, or replacement to any standard type of jewish learning. Besides Rabbi Goldie being a fabulous guide in this process, she also offers amazing resources of music, websites, software, and prayer books. I bought this book for myself and was so amazed and impressed that I bought more copies for everyone who is a part of my daughter's Bat-Mitzvah ceremony.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful guide for the upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah
My rabbi just lent me Rabbi Goldie's book, "Make your Own Bar/Bat Mitzvah," and I loved it. It is so in sync with what we are doing in our community and a perfect compliment to our program. I will be tutoring our B'nai Mitzvah kids this year and this book will be so helpful. I am going to make it required reading forthe families. This book is a fabulous tool not only for the child in preparation for this coming of age rite of passage, but also a wonderful way to involve the entire family. Now I need to order Rabbi Goldie Milgram's other books.

5-0 out of 5 stars No more cookie-cutter b'nai mitzvah
I take my Judaism seriously and wanted to be sure my son is getting the most out of his experience. This book freed our family from the bar mitzvah machine that our Temple has turned into and helped us come up with a bar mitzvah that is relevant to our Judaism. It is full of wonderful ideas - the only pitfall we keep coming to is keeping our "study sessions" of the schedule of things to do. Without having to make appointments, it's very easy to let things get pushed aside. I have already recommended this book to several of friends who are struggling with putting meaning into the process of bar/bat mitzvah prep.

5-0 out of 5 stars a book that supports b mitzvahs as true rites of passage
Thank you Reb Goldie for your Bar/Bat Mitzvah book. I am delighted with it!At last a book that really supports the work I have been doing with B Mitzvah students toward making the whole process a true rite of passage and personal spiritual reflection.

Thanks so much!

Ordered book to replace one lost in hurricane "IKE" because it was my daughters favorite when she was a child.Confirmation was sent to me that all was good with order but the seller said that he did not receive the order and that he no longer had the book.I lost thousands of childrens books in the storm that can not be replaced but I was hopeful that this one would.I have not been able to find it anywhere. My daughter had asked after the storm if Where's Goldie was still OK and I thought that replacing it for her to give her for her 25th birthday would be a good surprise.I was sorry to find out that would not happen.
