Product Description

What do you have to lose when you go searching for the mother who walked out of your life thirty-four years ago? I mean besides your pride, your nerves, and your sanity?

Odelia finds herself up to her ears in trouble when she reunites with her mom in a corn maze at the Autumn Fair in Holmsbury, Massachusetts. For starters, there’s finding the dead body in the cornfield—and seeing her long-lost mom crouched beside the corpse with blood on her hands . . .

Book five in the award-winning series starring unforgettable amateur sleuth Odelia Grey

Praise for the Odelia Grey Mystery Series

“I’d like to spend more time with Sue Ann Jaffarian’s Odelia, a plus-size fat liberationist with a handsome, wheelchair-bound lover.… [Odelia] does not hesitate to give justice a small, well-plotted forward shove at every opportunity.”The New York Times

“Bodacious ... wickedly satisfying.” —Publishers Weekly

“Jaffarian’s writing is sharp and sassy—like her protagonist—and she knows how to keep the suspense high.” —Mystery Scene

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow!Loose ends finally resolved
In every Odelia book, we've heard about the mother who abandoned her at age 13. This is the book where Odelia finally finds her mother--though seeing her for the first time in over 30 years at a murder scene is not how she envisioned their meeting.Sue Ann's descriptions of bucolic country scenes provide a contrasting counterpoint to this tale of murder, drugs, and a stubborn, cranky old lady who has more secrets than her family ever realized. Food is still an important ingredient and now I finally know what a lobster roll is--I think I gained 10 pounds reading about all the fried food they ate!The reappearance of our favorite swindler is an added plus. All in all, a terrific addition to the series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun read
I just found this authoress ..What a hoot. Love the fact that she is not the run of the mill 5 foot beauty queen problem solver. Smart , funny, and a good read. I have all of theSue Ann JaffarianOdelia books. Worth it too!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Odelia is back!
Just finished reading Sue Ann Jaffarian's latest "Corpse on the Cob".What a fun book! Not only a great mystery but lots of humor as well. Her unique cast of characters make Ms. Jaffarian one of my favorite authors, I just wish she would write faster!

5-0 out of 5 stars As if the Emotions Weren't Killer Enough
When Odelia was 16, her mother vanished with no warning, no explanation, and no trace. Now, 34 years later, she's learned that her mother is living in Massachusetts. So, with much trepidation, Odelia boards a plane and flies across the country to confront her.

Since Odelia didn't call ahead, she has some trouble tracking down her mother. She finally traces her to an autumn fair next to a corn maze.Killing some time, Odelia decides to enter the maze. And that's where she finds her mother kneeling over a corpse. Is her mother a killer? If not, who is she protecting?

I was a little worried when I learned this book wouldn't be set in California since I love the supporting characters so much.Several of them were still involved, and the new characters we met in Massachusetts more than made up for the rest.

The first half of the book focuses as much on the drama of Odelia and her mother as the mystery.Frankly, I found this just as compelling as the murder.I had a hard time putting the book down until I reached the great climax.

This series started strong and just keeps getting better.I can't wait to see where Odelia goes from here.

2-0 out of 5 stars Least favorite in the series
I've read all in the series and thought with each book the author was growing (better written). However, I could only read up to page 160 in Corpse on the Cob. I found it quite repetitive and very slow going. The author writes well but what was said in 160 pages could have been written in 50 pages. This is my opinion. ... Read more

Product Description
The Uncover series combines the best elements of a book with model elements to help readers truly "uncover" the mysteries of what makes things work. A fascinating three-dimensional presentation allows in-depth, hands-on exploration of the subject at hand. This unique "model" is easily built, deconstructed and re-built layer by layer, system by system just by turning a page, until an understanding of the topic is achieved. The complexities of the human body can be daunting, particularly for children. This book-model combination takes some of the mystery out of how the body works. It covers all the major systems and processes. Children get to look at each system on a different page, then by closing the book, combine them into a whole. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great gift for grandson
My grandson LOVED LOVED LOVED this book for his 7th birthday
some of the pieces inside are very fragile.
all the little 6-7-8 boys at the party were loving it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique book!
This is a very unique book, each page shows another layer through the human body which helps little ones see exactly how things fit together. My 4 year old niece loves it, and is now explaining anatomy to anyone who will listen. It's a book that will last many years and will continue to help her learn more about the body as her understanding of anatomy and her ability to grasp more complex subjects increases.I highly recommend this book for children who express an interest in understanding how their bodies work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic & original
This book is perfect for the visual learner. The model in the center has all the organs, bones and systems that move with the pages as you turn them. The information is also just right. The book was recomended to me by my anatomy and phisiology teacher- that's how Good it is. If they can use it as a teaching tool, it's good enough for me!
Best part is, I didn't pay nearly as much for it here on Amazon as I would have at a book store.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very cool!
I ordered this to do an at-home science curriculum with my son, along with some other human body products. When this came, I thought it was very original and cool!I guess I didn't realize what it would be like when I ordered it, and it is a lot neater than I expected. My 8 year old son thinks it is interesting to look at, and easy to understand.Every page you turn basically removes a layer of the human body to uncover the next layer and descriptions corresponding to the newly uncovered organs, bones, muscles, etc.I have never seen anything like this book.Very unique idea!Great way to give your kids a hands-on experience when learning about the body and to learn how all our parts fit, and work, together. The only thing I took off a star for is the possible durability of this book. The body pieces are pretty fragile, and you have to close the book just so to get it to all fit together.Maybe this is why they rate it ages 9-12, too, because younger kids would probably destroy it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Uncover the Human Body
Somewhat disappointed with this book. I thought you could disassemble the parts. You cannot....If you just want to look at parts of the body in 3D this is a good book. ... Read more
