4-0 out of 5 stars For it's one... two... three CDs out at the old ballgame!
According to manufacturer Radio Spirits, Yogi himself selected the vintage shows that comprise this 3-hour, 3-CD collection.

Dubs are from original broadcast transcription discs. A certain amount of surface noise and crackle is inevitable from these 60 to 70-year old records, but it's not so obtrusive as to render listening unpleasant. Recommended for all old time radio and baseball fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have for Braves Fans
Bob Hope's book was a terrific read--full of memories of those hapless (but loved) Braves teams from the seventies and eighties. From the broadcast booth (Milo Hamilton) to the front office (Ted Turner), the Braves' larger than life personalities always kept them on the front page--and the team's zany promotions helped keep the stadium seats full when the team couldn't. These were the days of Bob Didier, Mike Lum, Felix Millan, Brad Komminsk and Bob Horner--familiar to Braves fans but who quickly came and went off the major league radar. But they were also the days of unforgettable memories, as Hope writes eloquently of Dale Murphy and his MVP back-to-back seasons. The author's extraordinary tribute to Hank Aaron, the greatest ever, who gave modern baseball it's greatest memory in 1974, was as facisnating as it was poignant. If you grew up in the South or ever went to one of the those Braves games in the 1970s or 1980's, you will love this book. In fact, I bought one for my Mom, who was the biggest Braves fan in our family. If you can find a copy of this book, buy it--it's a classic for baseball fans anywhere. ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! USNS Bob Hope (T-AKR-300), the lead ship of her class of vehicle cargo ships for Army vehicle prepositioning, is the only naval ship of the United States to be named for the entertainer. Very few ships of the United States Navy have been named for a person who was alive at the time of the christening. The contract to build her was awarded to Avondale Industries on 2 September 1993 and her keel was laid down on 29 May 1995. She was launched on 27 March 1997, and delivered on 18 November 1998. A non-combatant roll-on/roll-off (RORO) vessel crewed by civilian mariners under the Navy's Military Sealift Command, Bob Hope and other ships of the class are used to preposition tanks, trucks and other wheeled vehicles and supplies needed to support an Army heavy brigade. ... Excerpt: Union Station (Los Angeles) -Union Station is located in the northeastern corner of Downtown Los Angeles, on the property bounded by Alameda Street, Chavez Boulevard, Vignes Street and the 110 Freeway. It is across Alameda Street from L.A.'s historic Olvera Street and El Pueblo de Los Angeles State Historic Park. The historic Terminal Annex building is on the opposite side of the Chavez Blvd. underpass. Chinatown and Civic Center are a short distance away. Union Station was partially designed by the father and son team of John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson, or the Parkinsons, assisted by a group of supporting architects, including the famous Jan van der Linden. The Parkinsons also designed Los Angeles City Hall. Their firm designed many landmark Los Angeles buildings from the late 19th century onward. The structure combines Dutch Colonial Revival Style architecture (the suggestion of the Dutch born Jan van der Linden), Mission Revival, and Streamline Moderne style, with architectural details such as eight-pointed stars. Enclosed garden patios are on either side of the waiting room, and passengers exiting the trains were originally directed through the southern garden. The lower part of the interior walls is covered in travertine marble, and the upper part is covered with an early form of acoustical tile. The floor in the large rooms is terra cotta tile with a central strip of inlaid marble (including travertine, somewhat unusual in floors since it is soft). Attached to the main building to the south is the station restaurant designed by southwestern architect Mary Colter (the last of the "Harvey House" restauran...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=724792 ...
