Product Description
Out of tragedy, a hero is born! In the roaring heart of the crucible, steel is made. In the raging flame of personal tragedy, men are sometimes forged into something more than human. Wealthy and successful at an early age, Richard Benson was preparing to enjoy a long and happy life with his family when crime took away his wife and young daughter. Once he was just a man, but now he is a machine of vengeance dedicated to the extermination of all crime. A figure of ice and steel, but more pitiless than both, Benson has become a symbol to crooks and killers--a terrible, almost impersonal force, masking cold genius and a nearly supernatural power behind a face as white and still as a dead man's mask. Only pale eyes, like ice in a polar dawn, hint at what awaits criminals when they invoke the rage of millionaire adventurer Richard Benson - The Avenger! Now, for the first time in over 30 years, the fearless/expressionless crime fighter; the man with the moldable face, the man with the shock white hair and the pale grey eyes, is back in action in a stunning collection of stories featuring all the action, adventure, and revenge Avenger fans have come to expect! From noir adventure and two-fisted action, to emotional tales of inner demons, join The Avenger for the E-ticket thrill ride of your life! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The Avenger Continues
A good read.Stays close to the characters.I was confused once with Cole Wilson and a grey-faced Avenger but a later short story seemed to explain that.Recommended to all Averger fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Return of a Pulp/Paperback Favorite
The Avenger Chronicles is a great read. It serves up short tales by writers with an obvious knowledge and affection for the classic but short-lived pulp and paperback revival character.

Richard Henry Benson and the Justice Inc. crew are memorable characters, and I look forward to further volumes from Moonstone.

Hopefully, future collections will feature longer individual adventures, as the main drawback to the book is the short length of the stories, leading to a rushed feeling and a sense of incompleteness in a number of cases.
Several tales held the potential to be fleshed out to 'pulp novel' length of 40-60 thousand words.

I'd rather see quality novellas rather than a large quantity of short stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars good ole pulp fiction
these authors pick up where the books left off...the stories are a great short reading for books that are -sad to say-out of print...if you like The Shadow or Doc Savage then you'll like these stories...

4-0 out of 5 stars The Avenger Returns
How awesome is this! The return of the Avenger!

I have been waiting for decades for someone to return the Avenger to print.I've begged, urged, flooded groups, written fan stories, even plotted books, comics, and movies, and all for nought from the corporations until this very cool volume arrived. What a dream come true.

The Avenger is one of the best pulp heroes ever, and stands shoulder to shoulder with Doc Savage. He well deserves to be revived and have some new adventures.

Job well done.Now.... I want some more.Volume Two anyone?

4-0 out of 5 stars The Avenger Chronicles

5-0 out of 5 stars Ron Howard and the making of Apollo movies
This is an interesting book about what master movie maker Ron Howard did in making the Apollo movies desirable to the public. I have to admit that I really like Ron Howard movies. Apollo 13 not only is a public icon, it was the medium to make Jim Lovell a household name. I have enjoyed the book. I think the public knows more about Apollo 13 than Apollo 11. Set your technologic brain aside and enjoy this read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another Great Apollo Book
After reading Apollo 13(Lost Moon) and seeing the movie I decided to read this book. While it is mostly about the early Apollo missions it also has information on the movie. This is a read for any die-hard Apollo fan. If you are lookingfor a Book on the Apollo Era this is not the book for you. ... Read more

Excerpt: The Da Vinci Code is a 2006 American mystery-thriller film directed by Ron Howard. The screenplay was written by Akiva Goldsman and based on Dan Brown's worldwide bestselling 2003 novel, The Da Vinci Code. It was produced by Howard with John Calley and Brian Grazer and released by Columbia Pictures in the United States on May 19, 2006. The Da Vinci Code stars Tom Hanks as Harvard University symbologist Robert Langdon, Audrey Tautou as cryptographer Sophie Neveu of the Direction Centrale de la Police Judiciaire of France, Sir Ian McKellen as British Grail historian Sir Leigh Teabing, Alfred Molina as Bishop Manuel Aringarosa, Jean Reno as Capitainé Bezu Fache of the Direction Centrale de la Police Judiciaire, and Paul Bettany as the Opus Dei monk Silas. The Da Vinci Code was previewed at the opening night of the 2006 Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2006. The Da Vinci Code then entered major release in many other countries on May 18, 2006 and was released in the United States by Columbia Pictures on May 19, 2006. Due to controversial and inaccurate historical interpretations and perceived anti-Catholic elements, the film, like Dan Brown's book, was harshly criticized by the Roman Catholic Church. Some church members urged the laity to boycott the film. Many of the early showings were protested and early critical reviews were decidedly negative. Arguably, however, these reactions had little negative impact on the film's box office numbers; The Da Vinci Code earned in excess of $230 million worldwide in its opening weekend, which, at the time, was the third most most profitable opening weekend in film history. 4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Read-Much different than other HH books
I really enjoyed this book. Though not as informative as I would have liked, it gave an insight into Howard Hughes ranging from mildy compassionate to sadistic. The books expands from focussing exclusively on Hughes to highlighting the adverse affect of Hughes actions on Ron and his family. The surprising thing was Ron gets sentimental even after he was treated so poorly by his employer, but, it gave you an essence of how captivating Hughes was to anyone who came into contact with him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Entertaining!
Not only am I glad to have the book, I am a personal friend of Ron Kistler's wife Virgie. Virgie and I worked at the same company a few years back. It was interesting listening to all the stories she told as I was reading the book. The book makes for very enjoyable reading. I intend to share it with my family and friends now that I have my own copy of Ron's book. I treasure Virgie like one of my family members. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet Ron Kistler.

3-0 out of 5 stars I Caught Flies for Howard Hughes
This book is a fascinating personal account of the strange, at times obsessive behaviour of Howard Hughes and the power he wielded from inside his secret world. However I did not find any of the incidents recalled amusing and certainly not hilarious.

4-0 out of 5 stars I caught flies for howard hughes
I thought Ron Kistler's humorous insight of a manthat hardly anyonereally knew was one of the funniest books I've ever read. The bizarredetails that Kistler was assigned to makes Hughes even more of a kook thananyone ever imagined.I had the book years ago and somehow misplaced or lostit and really would like to find another copy, even used would be good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, I couldn't put it down
I met Ronnie's wife Virgie Kistler last year when she came to work for our company in Carpinteria California.Being interested in Howard Hughes, I asked her if I could borrow her only copy of the book.I was suprised tofind that even though the book centered around Hughes's life, it was reallymore about Ronnie's own life and how humorous the relationship between anordinary man and billionaire could be.Definately read the book before themovie comes out!Yes, the movie! And I am sure that even though Ronnie isgone, the movie will accurately portray this great book because his wifeVirgie has been contracted to be a consultant to the film and the rereleaseof the book. ... High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! A Beautiful Mind is a 2001 American film based on the life of John Forbes Nash, Jr., a Nobel Laureate in Economics. The film was directed by Ron Howard and written by Akiva Goldsman. It was inspired by a bestselling, Pulitzer Prize-nominated 1998 book of the same name by Sylvia Nasar. The film stars Russell Crowe, along with Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Christopher Plummer and Paul Bettany. The story begins in the early years of Nash's life at Princeton University as he develops his "original idea" that will revolutionize the world of mathematics. Early in the movie, Nash begins developing paranoid schizophrenia and endures delusional episodes while painfully watching the loss and burden his condition brings on his wife and friends. The film opened in US cinemas on December 21, 2001. It was well-received by critics, grossed over $300 million worldwide, and went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress. It was also nominated for Best Leading Actor, Best Editing, Best Makeup, and Best Score. The film has been criticized for its inaccurate portrayal of some aspects of Nash's life. ... Read more
