1-0 out of 5 stars Awful, just awful
I am writing concerning the 2003 version, which is certainly very similar.

Not only is there nothing in this book that a basic course wouldn't cover, but the writing is awkward, inept, and disorganized. There are cute little quotes and cases included that would only detract from the information flow if there were an information flow. And there are outright errors.

If your prof assigned this book, run, don't walk, to the registrar's and get a different prof.

2-0 out of 5 stars Missing the online code and the cases!
How disappointing to be past the 30-day return period only to learn that the book does not have the online access code that is supposed to come with it.Also, the description doesn't tell you that the book doesn't come with the cases. It seems silly to me that the publishers would release an incommplete version of the book.I paid $90 for the book, then I had to pay $36 for the PDF version of the cases, and now I have to pay $10 for the online content.Amazon took me for a ride.Do yourself a favor and buy this at your school's bookstore. The book itself isn't bad; I'll keep this one at the end of class instead of selling it to the bookstore.

1-0 out of 5 stars Review
This is required reading for a college course I'm taking. It is more of a review of things I have covered in other business courses. Nothing earth shattering and very dry reading.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ghostly
This book is haunted. I took book out of package and placed on my bed. Went out for the day and when i came back, it was missing. I took my house and car apart 3 times and no luck. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Strategic Management
The item was in good condition and was received in time for the upcoming class.I am very satisfied with this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Condition
I received the book quickly. There was no writing or highlighting in the book and the binding was in tact.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unprofessional seller--JMATHEWS77
I emailed seller JMATHEWS77 to inquire if the book was an international edition, because it did not say in his description, and if it wasn't I wanted to buy it.After he emailed me back to inform me it was the US edition, he raised the price of the book over $20.I will NOT be buying from him, feel that was very unethical.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unprofessional Seller
This product was misleading in advertising. There was no picture of it, nor a suitable description that stated it was an "international version". This is false and deceptive business practices. When I "politely" inquired more information from the seller, he promptly replied via email, and initially seemed polite. However, he responded with such rudeness and told me "suck it up" or get over myself, basically, when I did not want to keep the book. When I inquired about returning the book, he got extremely upset and became "insulting", accusing me of being "picky", and that I would only be entitled to receiving only "half" of my refund to reimburse him for inconvenience of making trips to the post office, located just 2 miles from his residence. He also claimed reimbursement for time, and gas usage of his vehicle back and forth to the local post office. Even after providing him with a postal delivery confirmation, he stated he never received the item, despite delivery a week ago. I had the impression that he was being vindictive for my having angered him with my return. He does not like for buyers to return things. He is extremely indifferent. I plan on never buying from him again. I feel his conduct is inappropriate and unprofessional enough for Amazon to ban him from ever selling on their sight. BUYERS BEWARE! I strongly urge against buying from this seller. You may live to regret it! Trust me, I did!

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME TEXT
As a management major, this will be a textbook that I will keep forever. The cases are all current, and the textbook as a whole is an easy read.Unlike most texts that are filled with business jargon, this one is well put together, and organized.Highly recommended!! ... Read more

Product Description
PRINCIPLES OF ADVERTISING AND IMC, 2/e by Tom Duncan explains the principles and practices of advertising and the other marketing communication functions within an integrated context complete with an integrated planning process. Duncan’s text presents the new ways companies communicate with business-savvy customers. It also shows how and why top management demands accountability of how advertising and promotion dollars are spent. PRINCIPLES OF ADVERTISING AND IMC provides students with a basic understanding of all the major marketing communication functions, the major media alternatives, and the processes for integrating these activities in the most effective and efficient way in order to develop long-term, profitable customer relationships that build brands and create brand equity. Based on feedback from reviewers, author Tom Duncan has increased the 2nd Edition coverage of key advertising concepts (like channel marketing, customer service, direct response and personal selling) to ensure a well-rounded approach to the Principles of Advertising course.

AdSim is an Advertising Simulation set in the consumer electronics industry where students are required to make decisions about Agency selection; Brand positioning and messages; Media Selection, including traditional and non-traditional; Market Research, both ordering and interpreting; and Budgeting. This simulation, created by SmartSims, provides a highly engaging means of developing a real understanding and appreciation of the fundamentals and dynamics of communications, advertising and promotion in business. AdSim challenges students to apply recently learned concepts, principles and explained practices in development of overall communications, advertising and promotion campaigns, whether against the computer in the Single-Player version or in direct competition with their peers in the Multi-Player version.

AdSim for Duncan incorporates an Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) approach as promulgated in Principles of Advertising and IMC, 2/e by Tom Duncan. AdSim for Duncan has been modeled on the contemporary US Digital Camera Market. Using this simulation, students will develop:• A better understanding of how to implement an IMC approach in the development of an overall advertising and promotion plan.• Insights into selecting different media for specific communications goals and target markets while being constrained by a fixed budget.• Insights into the influence of brand awareness and the importance of on-going measurement.• A better understanding of implementing promotion campaigns for existing customers, including the use of customer relationship management (CRM) applications.• Critical decision-making and team participation skills in an interactive learning environment. ... Excerpt: Jack William Nicklaus (born January 21, 1940), also known as "The Golden Bear", is an American professional golfer. With the most victories in major championships (18), he was continuously ranked as the world's number one golfer on McCormack's World Golf Rankings from its inception in 1968 to 1977. Having won seven professional major titles between 1962 and 1967, he would likely have been considered number one in some of those years as well (a period when he, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player vied for that status in public acclaim as The Big Three). After 1978, while much younger players such as Tom Watson and Seve Ballesteros came to be ranked higher than him, Nicklaus continued to regularly challenge for and indeed win many major titles until 1986, making a full quarter-century in which he competed at the very highest level of his sport. 4-0 out of 5 stars * * Great Story * *
My highschool english teacher gave me this book to read. When I first saw it, it looked boring but I was wrong. It wasn't it was a sad story with great morals. Now I'm glad my teacher gave me this book because I learned a lot about history. Its a good read for everyone

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for Grade Six
"Underground to Canada" by Barbra Smucker is a novel about slaves in the United States
of America during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The story follows two slaves on
their journey to find liberation from slavery via the "Underground Railway" to Canada. Unaware
of what Canada might really hold for them, they persisted based only on the hope that what they
had been told about Canada would be true, to fulfill their dream or freedom.
This would be a good book for students around the Grade 6 level. For older students,
however, this book did not seem to fully describe the geniuine difficulty that such an epic journey
would have entailed. Many of the obstacles the escaping slaves encountered seemed to be
resolved quickly, before any true climax was able to be established. The book did allow for some
very in-depth, and enriching class conversations, but only when the ideas were taken outside of
the novel and applied to current events. Although there is much critisim in our perspective, this
novel could be read to understand the vicious aspect of slavery and the history behind it all,
through the rich class discussions it evoked.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Changes your view on life!
This book is awesome! It makes you think of all the things you take for granted and hard it must have been to be owned.
The main character Julilly goes through some much hardship and pain trying to get to Canada to be free, but in the end it was all worth it. The book also tells about how some people died trying to get to the land of the free, Canada.
No matter what age you should read this book, you wont regret it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Underground to canada was amazing!
In this book i expected it to be dull and boring but as you pass throught the first three pages you relize this book is great it has action, excitment and most of all sheer on your edge of your seat supence which i love so if you want to read a great book pick this one up it won't dissipoint you

1-0 out of 5 stars The down side
I think that Underground to Canada was a good book and was written very well. However there were also many bad things about this book. There was the seperation of families which is a very sad theme. an example of this is when willy is nipped from his mother and he's only a little baby boy.Julilly is also taken away from her mom when she is very young. When this book first came out there was a protest. This protest was about the language used in this novel. There were many people who protested against the use of "nigger".It was used in very raicist terms and upset many people.Once Sim's said "get back to work you stupid nigger girl." Even if that's how people were at times it might incourage people now to speak the same way. ... Read more

Product Description
Brad Schiller's text, "The Economy Today", 12e, is noted for three great strengths: readability, policy orientation, and pedagogy. His accessible writing style engages students and brings some of the excitement of domestic and global economic news into the classroom. Schiller emphasizes how policymakers must choose between government intervention and market reliance to resolve the core issues of what, how, and for whom to produce. This strategic choice is highlighted throughout the full range of micro, macro, and international issues, and every chapter ends with a policy issue that emphasizes the markets vs. government dilemma. Schiller teaches economics in a relevant context, filling his chapters with the real facts and applications of economic life. Schiller is also the only principle text that presents all macro theory in the single consistent context of the AS/AD framework. ... Read more
