5-0 out of 5 stars good for my learning!!!
I have this book always with me since I am a massage therapist and sometimes i want to explain to my clients what i was talking about during the session, and what muscles or tendons etc... we were working on, i think is a great buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent :)
This is thee best anatomy and physiology reference and it's pocket size so you can take it anywhere. Personally, i carry it in my backpack and occasionally in my purse. it actually makes my book a lot easier to understand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great but lacking.
Overall really good reference. Very clear and detailed. My only complaint is that it doesn't include a section for Embryology, thus the 4 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very worth it.
As a military provider - I wanted to get something for the medics that was a small anatomy reference. This is perfect. It is thick (1" maybe) but very thourough.Better than pocket cards. It has some limited pathophysiology - enough to educate without overdoing it for the intended audience.I would definately buy again for the medics.Great to reference and show/explain things to patients as well.
Very happy with the product.Medics loved it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!!
My wifes review: This book is great. Mine has 265 pages..copyright in 2009 (not including index). It has every system and more (13 tabs)...It was great in school, and its great now that I work in a hospital--I can carry it in my pocket--I just love it. Exactly what I was looking for. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Quirky Stories in Poorly-Structured Autobiography
There's no doubt that some of the stories involving Shirley Jones and Marty Ingels are unique and interesting--but this autobiography is so poorly structured that you have to plod through the stylistic weaknesses in order to glean the good stuff.

Let's start with the book's title: What is it?The cover says "Shirley Jones and Marty Ingels."Inside it says "Shirley &Marty: An Unlikely Love Story."Then on the copyright page it again says the title is "Shirley Jones and Marty Ingels."That should be the easy part. Amazon says it's "Shirley and Marty" but that's not what the copyright page says.

Then the way the book is formated is that co-author Mickey Herskowitz becomes the third-person narrator, interspersed with lengthy quotes from Marty and Shirley.Marty's are denoted by a bunch of dashes before the quote;Shirley's are set apart by a bunch of arrows. They never tell you this at the start of the book--you have to figure it out by yourself. So the start of the book refers to the duo objectively as "them," then suddenly you get Marty or Shirley saying "I."What's even more weird is that sometimes within the Herskowitz narrative he quotes one of them--only to have them have their own separate quoted section a few paragraphs later.

Namely, the structure makes no sense--it either should have been a biography written in Herskowitz's voice or an autobiography in the voice of the two subjects. It ends up being a confusing mixture.

The first four chapters deal with the start of their "love story," though the love seems very one-sided.Much mention is made of Shirley's first husband Jack Cassidy--so much that it seems this could also be a biography of David Cassidy's actor-father, who is pretty much slammed via demeaning praise (he wasted his great talent, etc.).Marty comes across as a complete nutcase, one who is irrationally devoted to a woman he barely knows. But Shirley is just as odd--she finds him both repulsive and attractive at the same time. Why is she drawn to needy men?

Chapters 5 & 6 get into the subjects' childhood--and it's pretty boring. There is so little to these chapters that they could have been left out.Again there's a structure change when we get to Marty's upbringing--suddenly there are subheadings with different "episodes" such as "I. The Gym Class."Why do this here and nowhere else in the book?

The rest of the book weaves in stories of the three Cassidy boys that live at home and a little about David, but nowhere near as much as fans would like.

At 300 pages it could cut about a hundred and be much more entertaining. The stories get repetitive, lengthy and unnecessary. Marty in particular takes 10 paragraphs to tell a story where two or three would suffice. And he keeps needing to tell us his fear of being in public, which results in him lying on the floor of hishome in a fetal position (though it's difficult to swallow that he spent months not going out or even bathing--he had to eat and he certainly had enough money to later buy Shirley expensive gifts). It appears he begs for sympathy but the reader gets so tired of his annoying neediness that after awhile you no longer care.

Then there are times when we only hear one person's version of major events between them--leaving the reader to wonder what the other person thinks. It's as if Herskowitz interviewed the two separately, then pieced together stories based on whose he thought was more interesting (which was usually Marty's).But there doesn't seem to be much objective checking into what they are saying is true--after the first few times you hear Marty admit to lying or exaggerating, it makes you question virtually everything he says.Shirley, on the other hand, is almost comatose in her responses to Ingels' mental problems, exhausted but accepting with no real explanation given.

Yes there are some fun stories here--but it's not quite the "love story" you expect. There also isn't anywhere near as much inside Hollywood information as should have been included--not many behind-the-scenes stories of their movies or TV shows. In the end you wonder why this ill man was so persistent in embarrassing himself to win her over, and why this quiet rebel woman was so willing to eventually give in when it's obvious she isn't comfortable with him.

5-0 out of 5 stars A glimpse
This is a wonderful glimpse into the lasting love affair between two people.Critics have said that they would never last.It is almost 30 years and they are still going strong. If you are a fan of Ms. Jones, this is the book for you.It is their words, and their story.A must have for any fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great love Biography!!
This is a great love biography of the reknowned entertainer Shirley Jones and Marty Engels. They rule!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not your traditional love story- But who cares?
I have read this book cover to cover several times and take something different from it each time. This book is an incredible and fascinating combination of humor and tragedy-- and even humor IN tragedy, showing all of us that even those who may appear to have perfect lives of the television or silver screen face real-life problems when the cameras are shut off. What makes this book fantastic is seeing the real people behind the personas and the ability to benefit from the important lessons learned in this unique relationship.

5-0 out of 5 stars entertaining, heartwarming, page turner - you'll fall in love
The amazing story of two people who make each other happy although they are totally opposite.America's sweetheart and the often misunderstood, agoraphoic comedian who won her heart.Told from both sides of the relationship - frenzy and flowers. The writing style is engaging and you'll see people you know - you'll feel like part of the family. ... Product Description
This book is a unique blend of marriage, family, teamwork and death. It was written as a gift from mother to daughter to define the circumstances of her daughter?s birth and provide a glimpse of the history that brought these parents together. The author?s near death experience on November 10, the day her daughter was born, provides an enlightening insight from mother to child.More than anything else this is a little gem of love, of a zest for life, and of one woman?s sense of wonder. It is a beautiful expression of how we gain insight as we mature, and how we learn how to put our experiences in perspective. Since you know Shirley Jones well enough to hear her speak as you are reading her words, you really don?t want to miss this opportunity. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Compelling novel by a new author
This novel by Shirley Jones is a compelling novel that you will not soon forget. The author writes in a manner that allows the reader to enter her life and participate in the joy and excitement of her life with her new husband as they await the birth of their first child.Reading the novel is like finding a new friend and I shared both laughter and tears with the author as I read this book.I keep watching and hoping that Shirley Jones will be on a book tour this year so I can have her autograph my copy; I'm anxious to meet her because I feel we're already friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best quick-read on the market!
This book, by new author Shirley Jones is absolutely a fabulous first work outlining her experience leading up to, and during the events of November 10.Better than Eadie's "Embraced by the Light", this is a very real account of an Iowa woman, who in the early 1960's establishes her home & family, yet the birth of the couple's first child brings about a unique and unexpected twist.About the length of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull", yet Jones' "November 10" is huge in depth, eloquence and interest.Pick it up for your next flight. Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I believe every word she says in this book.....
WHY,because I grew up in this exact neighborhood, and my family exprienced supernatural stuff ass well...we lived just blocks away from the house Mrs Shirley Jones talks about..and if i'm not mistaken this house is still up for sale right now as we speak.Anyway...I am not going to worry about the mistakes
in the book & the mispellings of certain words...because I still understood what she was talking about... its a proven fact that this whole area of "HISTORIC OLD NORTH SAINT LOUIS IS HAUNTED'..because we lived in 2 homes in this area...and both where haunted...no joke..both homes that we lived in were located on 16th street near downtown St.louis..and neither home is standing today...they were torn down years ago..I am not gonna really get into what my family went through..but I can say thats it was not as bad as what Mrs shirley Jones and her family went through.till this day..I still live in St.Louis...and sometimes still visit the area I grew up in because it brings back so many memories...and ofcourse right now I live in a home that was built in 1850,we also had strange things happen here as well, but im used to it by now,...it dosent bother me anymore...it fasinates me more than anything..i'm 33 now..i've been dealing with the paranormal since the age of 7...pretty much all my life.I appreciate her writing this book..theres alot of people out here who went through this, but are afraid to talk about it...not me though....I'm actually looking to buy a house in this exact neighborhood, because I loved it soo much, and i'm not afraid of ghosts.they should be more afraid of me...lol

1-0 out of 5 stars not woth the money
I have read countless books on hauntings and this has to be one of the worse ones. It's like a pamphlet, not a book. The font is huge.It basically reminded me of a 2nd grade book.
Lots of spelling errors & Way to short!
Don't waste your $18.00 on this.

4-0 out of 5 stars overall interesting
overall interesting and entertaining book.great read for a stormy night.several points i would have wished were adressed in more detail.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ghost in the house
I liked the book but wish it had been longer.
I thought the story was very well told.
It is not a scary book but a good story.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting story, unclear writing
A quick review: The story itself was very intriging, and interestingly unique, but the writer kept changing tense and I felt as if I never really knew WHERE I was in time.It was disorienting.I would come across he, she and it, and have not idea who or what was being talked about. Also, a great deal of detail was LACKING. There were lots of typos and an irritating lack of DEPTH.You felt as if you were JUST skimming the surface of the story and RUSHING on. This is sad, because the story itself had great potential.Don't get me wrong. I am certainly no writer myself. In fact, I need an editor and proofreader with me right now, but these are my impressions of the book. ... Read more

Product Description
Although Mme de Lafayette is acknowledged as the founder of the modern novel, her precise legacy has been understood only in relation to male-authored texts. However, she wrote as a woman, addressing issues that concerned women of her day, particularly the problem of the apparent incompatibility of sexual fulfilment and the institution of marriage. This study seeks to identify how 'La Princesse de Cleves' was interpreted by three of Mme de Lafayette's most talented women successors and to show how their more sombre and subversive view of society was mediated in works of fiction which have strong affinities with the 'contes de fees' for which they are well known. The novels of Mlle Bernard, Mme d'Aulnoy and Mlle de La Force are significant, not simply for what they tell us about themselves as women writers but also for what they reveal about the origins of the eighteenth-century novel. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars So much in one simple story
This is a favorite bedtime story of our granddaughters, ages 5 and 7. The illustrations are muted and lovely. With few words on each page, it is easy for young children to follow along.

It is simply told, but has so much depth. It is certainly a story that helps children cope with the death of someone they dearly love.It is also about relationships, specifically how the grandfather showed his grandson the way that special relationships are built by "creating memories", memories that stay with us always.

The book is filled with grandpa's words of wisdom, guideposts that show the boy the way to live an ethical and happy life, ie: "Never cheat, but play fair and always finsh the game." Underlying all of this, is the theme that we give back to those who have given so much to us.

My throat tightens up every time I read it, but so far I have managed to get through the story without crying.Maybe I should allow myself to cry so our granddaughters understand that I am not so much crying from grief, but because I am deeply touched by the story. Near the end of the book, the boy says, "That's when I remembered my promise. So tapped myself on the nose and I listened."

The story leaves children with the understanding that nothing can break the special place Grandpa has in the boy's heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
"Until We Meet Again" is a beautiful story dealing with a very difficult subject. It is a gentle description of death and dying that is aimed at younger children. The illustrations are first rate as well as the story telling.I would strongly recommend this book to everyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Warning:tear-jerker!
I could not read this book without absolutely bawling. It's a tender and sweet memoire of love, and of all the lasting things that a parent or grandparent teaches one---those things that stay in your head your whole life. I especially liked that as the grandparent in the book get sicker, the little boy finds ways to take care of his grandpa, to be kind and loving to him, and to continue creating beautiful memories while they have time left together.I'm crying as I'm writing this, thinking about it!I would have a hard time reading this book to a child without weeping myself, but it is a truly lovely book.

5-0 out of 5 stars making those memories now
This is a wonderful book for young children because of the love it shows between generations. Yes it was a tear jerker at times, but the underlying message of love in a family is what grabbed our attention. I read this to my grandson the last time he visited from colorado, and the part that made the biggest impression on us was to make the memories every chance we can. We touched each other on the noses when he left to go home and repeated the words "till we meet again." My husband just returned from a visit to colorado, when he said good bye to Garrett (age 5)..they again repeated those words!! So, thank you susan for writing this book, we have adapted your advice into our relationship with our grandson!
