From the supplier: The begging calls of the Western Bluebird (Sialia mexicana) nestlings were analyzed to determine the individual, family, and sex differences. Results show that although begging calls of nestling Western Bluebird varied significantly among individuals and among nests, no significant evidence of begging for sex differentiation was recorded. However, the possibility on the use of individual-specific and brood-specific begging calls of parents in identifying and discriminating broods from other families against their own was presented.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great read
This is a wonderful book.Walter Koenig has a gift for writing in such a way that you feel he's just standing nearby chatting with you. His observations of "Star Trek" and making movies in general are witty and insightful.Check out his other book, the autobiographical "Warped Factors" for deeper insights into his complex personality, and how his many acting efforts after "Star Trek" were overshadowed in many ways by the character of Chekov (and an even deeper view of his wonderful sense of humor.)
Thank you, Walter!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
I haven't even seen ST: TMP, but I still enjoyed this book.Walter is a great writer.Buy this book and you won't regret it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great "Star Trek" memories
What a treat to be able to read the republication of Walter Koenig'sjournal of the making of "Star Trek:The Motion Picture." Koenig gives a light-hearted and detailed look at the behind-the-scenesaction of the film, including his fascination with Persis Khambatta's baldhead and his quest for Chekov's one great close-up.:-)Any fan of theoriginal series is sure to enjoy this book; you'll feel like you're righton the set! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Trek foul ups and blunders
I had a copy of this book when it first came out, but I lost it and thought it was out of print. I was delighted to see it still available and ordered it, especially since I have the TV series and movies on DVD now. I this book, author Phil Farrand goes through each and every episode of the Original series and the six feature films. In each he discusses changed premises, plot oversites, equipment oddies, and props that don't work like they should. Also he points out scenes that were cut when the show was syndicated, and what stills where shown during the end credits. Also Farrand also includes what are called tote boards, that lists things like the number of times Kirk's shirt gets torn, number of people who slap Spock, number of times McCoy pronounces someone dead etc. This book is a must for fans of Classic Star Trek.
PS, in the episode The Savage Curtain, during a fight scene, Kirk is on his back, and he draws up his legs to push away his opponet, his pants cleary split!! I laughed until i almost could'nt breathe.

2-0 out of 5 stars A lot of nitpicks in this book are invalid
For example he picks on one Trek ep for mentioning the Euygenics Wars of the 1990's and the fact that in the real life 1990's the Eugenics wars never took place. Also, he mentions inconsistencies beween the TOS and TNG shows. If these are nitpicks they should be in the TNG nitpickers guide. Also I hate when he talks about how Miri would be a shorter show if they (the landing party) could talk to the ship. Wrong author Phil! It would be a different show if they could talk to the ship.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Trek Fan Loved It
I loved this book. Whenever I'm in need of a laugh I still return to it. Every blooper, every continuity problem and and every single episode is discussed in this veryfunny guide. The authorwas obviously a huge fan of Star Trek.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprise!A reference book that is actually humorous.
Phil Farrand does a wonderful job here of pointing out things the creators of Trek got wrong (and right!)--small things most of us would never give a second thought to.My favorite glitch:

"Return of the Archons--Just after Festival begins, Kirk & the others scamper for cover. In one shot, a rock about the size of a cantaloupe arches down and whacks a crew member on the top of his head.Surprisingly, the man seems unaffected, and the rock simply bounces off.Now that's the kind of guy you want to take on landing party missions!"

I couldn't stop laughing for about five straight minutes after I read this one.If you like Star Trek, and you like to laugh--get Phil Farrand's Nitpicker's Guides for Trekkers. You will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars CITY ON THE EDGE OE FOREVER
Kirk and spock are sweeping the floor when spocks notices a man using small tools, the sceen cuts and shows the man's hand picking a a sharp looking tool, then the sceen changes back to Kirk and Spock some words are passedthen sceen shows the man's hand again doing the same motion. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nicely presented light Sci Fi comedy.
October 30th, 1938

Orson Welles and his famed Mercury Radio company begin broadcasting their infamous "War of the Worlds" production that will soon have more than a few Americans watching the skies withterror.

Meanwhile, across town:

Two burglers {Bud the pro, looking forcash and Lester the clod, looking for a decent sandwich} break into ashabby deli run by down-on-her-luck but-still-has-a-heart-of-gold Rosie. Before the night is over, Mr. Welles horrifyingly real broadcast will havethem looking at their lives inways none of them could have imagined.

Meanwhile, across the Galaxy:

Atwo man scoutship from an advanced civilization makes the last leg of itspatrol before its weary and cynical Captain can gratefully order her home.Unfortunately, his crewmate is a twitchy do gooder boyscout type, yearningfor any chance to liven up the soon to be completed dreary patrol. To thehomesick Captain's dismay, the overeager Space Cadet gets his wish when hepicks up the CBS War of the World broadcast, which of course he instantlyand enthusiastically mistakes for a genuine invasion of poor little ol'Earth. And guess who must go to the rescue?

This SCI FI channel audioproduction was great fun to listen to for the most part. Walter Koenig gives a charmingly funny performance as the space wearyCaptain.Paul Singleton hams it up entertainingly as the ultimate in dogooder space cadets. Indeed, the cast gives strong performances all around, nicely balancing some amusing dialogue with a dose of welcome if somewhatpredictable sentiment. All in all, I smiled thru most of the show, andlaughed out loud on more than a few occasions.

Two caveats: Thisproduction was taped before a live audience so if your not a fan ofbackground laughter in an audio production, be warned. Also keep in mindthis production only runs about 1 hour.
