5-0 out of 5 stars Triumph Indeed
Hugh Callaghanwas convicted of the Birmingham pub bombings in 1975, along with 5 other men, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was also completely innocent of every charge brought against him. This is his story, from his upbringing in Belfast and later life in Birmingham to the nightthat changed his life forever. It tells about the fitup, the kangaroo courttrials, the police brutality, the life in prison, the refusal for manyyears by anyone bar a few people to believe in the innocence of theBirmingham Six. It is a damning indictment of a "justice" systemwhich would rather a quick result than the truth and does not care aboutthe people it destroys in the process. It is also a story of hope and ofhow the world can be changed when there are enough people doing it. Thisbook is a must read for anyone who cares about true justice. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars much useful advice for social workers
The book is written from a British perspective, offering advice for dealing with south Asian immigrants. Hopefully the reader will gain some sensitivity and multicultural perspective, when dealing with migrant families.

There are numerous case studies of families afflicted [if this is the right word] by having a severely disabled kid. You get suggestions on how to gain the parents' confidence, and to give useful tips. A big thing is getting the families aware of resources available to them by the government. Often the families might simply not know, or be chary of interacting with government officials. The text also asks you to encourage them to integrate into the broader community, rather than self segregate into Pakistani or Indian groups. ... Read more
