Product Description

The future lies ahead.

BUT YOU CAN PAY FOR A PREVIEW.

When her promised stardom fails to materialize, struggling actress Sarah Lassez finds solace in psychics who predict the coming of the man of her dreams. She's sure she's found him in Wilhelm, a suave hotel sous-chef from Germany. But mayhem ensues when she takes the words of the psychics over the words of her actual boyfriend and is convinced he's about to propose -- when in reality he's planning to leave the country . . . without her.

Sarah's world dissolves into a haze of credit card debt, loneliness, and a raging addiction to psychics that threatens to destroy her finances, her relationships, and her sanity. She knows she needs help. But getting it will mean confronting the fact that life is not to be controlled or predicted, and though dealing with reality isn't always easy, at least it doesn't cost $4.99 a minute.

Psychic Junkie is a true story of life and love in Los Angeles, narrated by an endearing protagonist whose search for answers will resonate with everyone who has ever tried to make sense of career, relationships, and adulthood. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Does Not Live Up to the Hype
On the plus side this memoir sheds light on a problem too many people are ashamed of-psychic addiction. Lassez is not alone in being a psychic junkie. There are many people fighting this addiction. That is the positive side of the memoir. The negative side is the writing.

I did not find it to be a page turner and quite clunky. The writing lacked polish and seemed juvenile. I assume Lassez had a ghost writer help her write her story. It is too bad she did not have a more capable one. Her story would have been quite complelling in the write hands.

4-0 out of 5 stars Psychic Junkie
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really related to the author.Psychic Junkie is achingly honest and very, very funny!

4-0 out of 5 stars Have You Ever Called a Phone Psychic?
I think most people have at least toyed with the idea of calling a phone psychic from one of the myriad ads in the backs of fashion magazines and on TV.So Psychic Junkie is a great book that looks at someone who not only called, but could not stop calling even when she had spent thousands of dollars.

The reader feels that Sarah is someone you would love to have as a friend. If my life became such a mess, there is no way I would tell anyone about it, let alone write a whole book for the world to peruse. But I am so glad she did.Sarah Lassez writes with complete candidness and complete hilarity about her first years trying to make it as an actress in Hollywood. She talks about romance, making movies, family, and friendship. But most of all, she uncovers the psychic hotline business and exposes some of the secrets.

I loved this book and could not put it down. The title and the cover design hooked me like a fish; the excellent writing reeled me in.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Way to Predict The Future is to Create it Yourself
Thank you Sarah for your honest account of life in psychic bondage. There really are only a handful of true ethical psychics in the world but the ones encountered in this memoir were not them. People often go to a psychic in desperation and probably on some level, wanting to have assurance or control over the outcomes of events. Sarah was seeking psychic solace because she wanted to have hope in her life. The sad fact is, no psychic is 100%, and sadly most who claim to be psychic are not. They are people with intuition and empathic ability instead of a true psychic. A true psychic does not collude with you. They will tell you what you don't want to hear because their ethics will keep you in reality. A true psychic will guide you with instructions that can energetically support you towards manifesting your heart's desires. They won't be the work for you nor can their words magically cause it into being. And most of all, you have a choice whether to believe or trust it and keep your head in check. The true litmus test of any psychic is time. Over time, predictions that comes true in their essence (forget the form), are the hallmark of a real psychic. Even the best psychics cannot be 100% accurate on the timing and how an exact reality will unfold. It is best that when you find the one person whom you trust, and has proven their skills, stick only to them and don't have readings more than once in 18 to 22 months. Anything more is an addiction to readings.

In Sarah's case, she was giving her power over to what really were sidewalk intuitive and empathic con artists at best. These people were able to tune into what her emotions wanted rather than real precognition. They told her what she wanted to hear because they picked up on her dreams rather than future probabilities. Sarah was in the equivalent of a spiritual bondage and lost faith in herself in the process. The good thing is that she came to her senses and stopped. This is something to read before you see a reader. And remember ... if what they say doesn't feel right ... it probably is wrong. But really, don't get too attached to their words, just keep note of them and then allow events to unfolds while doing your part instead of wishful thinking. Sarah has done consumers a world of service with this book.
