4-0 out of 5 stars Good inspiration for aspiring young comics
Jay's jokes are geared to the 8 to 12 year-old and mostly ones I hadn't heard before. However, the real gold in this book is his side commentary about how to be a comedian. These are very inspirational. My 12 year-old read it cover to cover.

4-0 out of 5 stars my son enjoyed this book
My son received this book as a gift when he was 10. He doesn't take to books real well but he really enjoyed this one. He rereads it often. I wouldrecommend it for any child who strives to be funny.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T LET YOUR KIDS READ THIS!
The trend of celebrities penning books for children reaches its nadir with this one. There is nothing funny or interesting or the least bit intriguing about this book. I thought as an adult, maybe I'm out of the loop. Let me show it to some kids. So I did. And they hated it!

Jay Leno can't make adults laugh, let alone children. The book is also in bad taste. Some of the jokes here woujld be offensive to children with their innuendo. What in the world were they thinking when they published this?

I wish I could give it zero stars!

4-0 out of 5 stars THE FUNNIEST KID
MY GRANDSON AGE 9, HAS A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR, AND HAS ENJOYED READING THIS BOOK.

3-0 out of 5 stars Be Aware That This Is A Joke Book
I didn't realize this was a joke book and bought it for an adult that claims he is the funniest man in the world.I didn't do my homework and thought this was Mr Leno's autobiography.I returned it promptly. ... Read more

Product Description

They're incredibly fast, they're incredibly beautiful, and they turn heads and set speed records with every incarnation. Velocity: Supercar Revolution is the first complete history of the supercar and tells the story behind the most desirable cars in the world. With stunning photographs, detailed text, and a host of commentaries from Jay Leno and other collectors, famed automotive photographer John Lamm provides an in-depth historical, cultural, and technological account of these amazing machines. Organized by decade and by top speed, the book details these luxurious cars over the past 40 years as they reached speeds of 170, 180, 190, and finally 200-plus miles per hour, the informal mark of today's supercar.
Velocity: Supercar Revolution charts the evolution of the battle for engine supremacy and performance among the world's leading marques, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Porsche, Aston Martin, Ford GT, among others. The book profiles the designers and engineers who developed these cars, and includes interviews with the racers and celebrities who drive them, and of course, fabulous photographs of the supercars themselves. Included in the book are several hilarious and informative commentaries by Jay Leno, the host of The Tonight Show and one of the best-known automotive collectors and enthusiasts in the world, telling stories and opinions on these cars (many of which he owns).
Velocity: Supercar Revolution conveys as never before the power of automotive aesthetics and performance pushed to their absolute limits. It is a benchmark in automotive publishing and destined to become a classic history of these incredible marques.

5-0 out of 5 stars Would make perfect gift for any guy between 13 and 80.
I have collected auto books for years and this one is one of the best. I can't imagine anyone interested in modern auto's would not love to receive this as a gift.

This book is huge: 352 oversize, glossy pages. Tons of color photos. Owner story with each car highlighted.

One word of caution however: due to the size and weight of this book, I have found (when buying it online) that some sellers cut corners on the "boxing".I ordered a copy and it was sent in a bubble mailer. This book weighs over 6 lbs. When received, all four corners of the covers were bent. Not a big deal for me, but as a gift - not good. The only way this book will arrive in like new condition is if it is shipped in a box with padding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best
I have quite a decent library of supercar books, but this is my golden Book. It's simply the best althought I personaly would like to see in therethe specs in metric units and in Km/h. But that no reason for not giving it a Five stras review! Just a reminder dont forget to put a Koenigsegg in the next edition...

5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Collection
John Lamm's experience and tenure at "Road & Track" magazine puts him in the perfect position to provide the details and history of the exotic supercars which make up the collection of this book. The photographs are superb, and with each car givin its own subchapter, the book is a perfect book to grace anyone's coffeetable.Definitely not a book to live on a shelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a fantastic book!
I got this book as a gift for Christmas. I imediately looked at the beautiful photography for hours, but only recently got around to reading the text. What a great story! The author knows this subject inside and out, and worked with many of the famous designers who created these spectacular cars. The sidebars by Jay Leno were hilarious! I had never been a Leno fan until I read this book and realized he was as smart and knowledgeable as he is funny. I now watch him regularly. ... Read more

Product Description
Reviews:"Tom Cotter's sequel to last year's best-selling The Cobra in the Barn relays one great tale after another, with players unearthing rare cars to die for. The treasures include an armored Mercedes-Benz Aktion P command car discovered in pieces in Russia, a desirable Dodge Daytona Hemi virtually abandoned behind bushes in a guy's yard, a bushel of Bugattis in a barn, the `Divorcee Cobra,' and a GTO owned by a mobster. These are great stories about great cars." - Edmunds.com

"The book is highly entertaining, often exciting and should hold universal appeal for all car enthusiasts." - Hemmings Muscle Machines

About the book:It's every car lovers fantasy: the perfectly preserved classic automobile discovered under a blanket in some great-grannys garage. And as Tom Cotter showed us in The Cobra in the Barn, it's a fantasy that can come true. Cotters' adventures in automotive archaeology continue in The Hemi in the Barn, with more than forty new stories of amazing finds and automotive resurrections. Avid collectors big and small recall the thrills of the hunt, the tips and hunches followed, clues pursued, the heart-stopping payoff. There's the forgotten Duesenberg--the only unrestored one around--that Jay Leno found in a Burbank garage. There's another 1931 model Dusenberg Leno found in a parking garage in New York City that was parked in 1933 and was never moved. There's a Plymouth Superbird found buried in a hedge out of sight in Alabama. There's the rescue of the first 1955 Corvette ever built. There's the find of legendary race builder Smokey Yunick's Boss 302 Trans-Am car. And there's the story of the original Cobra Daytona Coupe built by Peter Brock and sold to Phil Spectre--a story that somehow involves a chauffeur's daughter setting herself and her rabbits on fire. As entertaining as these tales are--and some are truly corkers--they're also full of tantalizing hints and suggestions for readers setting off on their own adventures in automotive archaeology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably entertaining collection of stories.
I as a collector of old videogames understand the mentality of collecting cars and know the feeling when you stumble upon something astonishing. I know both mediums are vastly different in price but the thrill of the hunt is all the same. This book is excellent. From stories of finding someone's long lost family car to multi-million dollar race cars, this book has it all. I recommend this to any car enthusiast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
If you're a car "person" you'll love this book. It captures the spirit and feeling of the hunt for old cars and brings that feeling of excitement page after page. A must read...over and over.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unlike Most Sequels, This is Very Good!
I loved the first book in this series, the Cobra in the Barn (and the third, the Vincent in the Barn).Usually sequels are a shadow of the brilliance of the first work - at least that's true in the movies. And while this book isn't quite as interesting as the Cobra in the Barn, it is well worth purchasing and makes for a thoroughly engaging read.I've spent many a night on an airplane or trying to deal with a case of insomnia by reading this book. It's the kind of book you go back to again and again...The stories are interesting and rich in detail; passionate stories of discovery and the thrill of the chase. This collection of anecdotes will keep you interested for hours on end - well worth reading and it holds a proud space on this car enthusiast's bookshelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool stories, but...
Great stories, but hopefully in the next edition there will be more stories from non-millionaires that can't afford to drop a few hundred grand on these cool cars (and the restorations).Maybe there will be more submissions from the guy who got that classic Camaro for free from the old lady next door.I'm still searching for mine!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Hemi in the Barn
I have the first book, "The Cobra in the Barn", this book is as good if not better, worth the price! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Jay Leno, Leading with my Chin.
I bought his book when it first came out, and I put Post-it Notes on the pages that made me laugh.
I took the book to read whenever I had to take the kids to the doctor because the wait was always
so long.Jay's book made me laugh out loud so much that the doctor peeked into the exam room and
asked what I was laughing about so much.I showed him all the Post-it-Notes pages that made me laugh.
The doctor asked me if the book was really that funny, and I said "YES, go buy Jay's book and read it to laugh."
Couple years ago, I gave the book to a friend in need to laugh, and I'm sorry I gave it away.
Jay's dad was a character and his mom was such a sweet woman like Edith on Archie Bunker tv series.
A touching part that made me tear up was when Jay was in high school sitting in class and he could
see his parents in the distance at his junkie old pick-up that did not have windows, they were covering
his pick-up with plastic because it was raining.Wow, they loved their son.Even though his dad was
a tough guy, he showed he cared about Jay.Man, that was such a loving thing to do.My dad would not
have done that. This time, me not giving Jay's book away.In times when I need to laugh, I go to his
book.I love all the funny events about his parents.I like Jay Leno.
