Excerpt: David Amram (born November 17, 1930) is an American composer, musician, conductor, and writer. As a classical composer and virtuoso performer, his integration of jazz (including being one of the first noted as an improvising jazz French hornist), ethnic and folk music has led him to work with the likes of Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Willie Nelson, Charles Mingus, Leonard Bernstein, Sir James Galway, Arthur Miller and Jack Kerouac throughout the course of his career. Amram was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shortly before his seventh birthday, he and his family moved to a farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His grandfather, David Werner Amram, who had been active in early American Zionist circles and had spent considerable time in what is now Israel. His father, Philip Werner Amram, introduced him to cantorial music and classical music. Amram's uncle loved jazz, introducing him to recordings of great jazz artists. At the age of seven, Amram began piano lessons. In 1948 he spent a year at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, but earned a bachelor's degree in European history from George Washington University in 1952. He also began composing music for the theater, led his own innovative sextette. David Amram has composed more than 100 orchestral and chamber music works, written many scores for Broadway theater and film, including the classic scores for the films "Splendor in The Grass" and "The Manchurian C...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=1392307 ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Weird Cult Book
I heard there were chapters on how a bunch of famous people and celebrities were cursed by meeting a gothic/horror character. If it's not true, I cannot tell where it goes away from the truth.I found it interesting to see how great artists, heroes, and soldiers, used a connection to get ahead--and then paid a high price for their success. This is sort of a Faust legend, but even more deadly and widespread.Very entertaining if fiction, and scary as hell if true.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sequel to Original Shocker!
After Jesus tells him that, "You will tarry until I come again," the main character of this story continues an epic spiritual journey. This Legend involves the notorious Eternal Wanderer, sometimes called the Wandering Jew. Reputedly condemned by Jesus for his callous sense of injustice, the Wanderer can find no rest for eternity (cited in John 21:22; Mathew 16:28). When he first hears the words, "I shall hurrry to my death, but you will wait for yours," he can scoff, but as the days and years, then decades and centuries pass, he realizes he must endure what no other man has ever faced..... "He's the Man in the Moon." Mark Twain "He was overlooked by the census and ignored by the tax collector." Bret Harte "He shall tarry until I come again..." Jesus of Nazareth. MAL TEMPO & FRIENDS is a sequel to the original and bizarre tale of the Eternal Wanderer, cursed by Jesus, told through the letters of all the Great Writers and personalities of the 19th century: compiled here for the first time: Dickens, Melville, Hawthorne, Longfellow, Conrad, Hopkins, Barnum, Wilde, and others...each has an anecdote that reveals more and more the identity of the Wanderer, as he is pursued to his hiding place. Tempo's friends across two millenia are the rich and famous who use him to achieve their greatness, but discover acurse to doing business with the Wanderer. The final revelations may surprise. ...
