4-0 out of 5 stars Tina Louise's "Sunday" memoirs
This is a brief but revealing look into Tina Louise's early life. Because her parents separated, her mother was only 18 when she had Tina--plus her new husband didn't want a child in the house, as a little girl Tina was sent to the Ardsley School for Girls in New York. The emotional responses are very much in the language of a child. I laughed at the time Tina and her friend Alison hid 3 frogs in the bed of another girl they didn't like, and they were able to keep from laughing when one of the adults in charge was trying to find the culprits. Some of the other experiences are just as child-like, such as keeping pet caterpillars, but some border on abuse, such as Tina telling of being shut in the dark in the bathroom with spiders nearby. She is not afraid to tell of her belief in God. In addition to the institutional experiences, Tina writes what it was like to be babysat by a woman with alchoholic tendencies. No wonder Tina emphasizes what she learned, that children ought to be taken care of by adults and not sent away as if they were some sort of inconvenience.

1-0 out of 5 stars Uninteresting and BLAH
This is what you call a book? Not only was it boring, it was self absorbed. Many people go through life with "not so perfect" childhoods. If you're going to write about it, at least keep the reader interested.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFULLY TOUCHING! written by someone i cherish and adore
This book shows just one of the many talents of Tina Louise! being an actress/artist/mother/singer ETC and now author, she has proven that she can do just about anything!!!! I adore her to death, and when i read this tragic andtouching story of what it was like to be Tina growing up, it truely touched my heart, just like everything else Tina has done. this book is for anyone who has a heart. it's as simple as that. it makes me realise my life isnt as bad as i thought it was...this book has changed me completely and has a special place in my heart always! along with Tina herself:):):) DO READ THIS BOOK!!!! *TINA*TinaLouise4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Come on Ginger get over it life is short.
I thought the book was poorly written. I think tina is a sadly self involved narcissist who had limited talent. she reminds me of people i know who go thru there life holding on to the past and blame everyone around them for there lack guts to move on.

5-0 out of 5 stars this was a great book.
I thought this was a great book.I just wish the author went into more detail, also the book was much to short.Tina is one of my favorite artist and this was just a tease.hopefully one day she will write her auto- biomore indepth. ... Read more

Product Description
A Gilligan’s Island legend and volunteer reading tutor relays to kids that they can be anything they want to be, in this brightly illustrated celebration of careers and the natural world.

This inspiring book from actress Tina Louise brings nature and the animal kingdom together to invigorate children to reach for the stars in anything they do. Louise cleverly compares the role of an animal or insect side by side to what a child can grow up to be. Fireflies glow in the dark; an aspiring actress can shine on the silver screen. Spiders spin elaborate webs; an aspiring architect can create a skyscraper. Children will think of their own talents as they read along and be inspired to excel. When I Grow Up shows that amazing things are happening all the time—and that young readers can grow up to be amazing, too!

A Gilligan’s Island icon sets sail with her first-ever children’s book

“Teaching children the skill of reading and a love for the written word is important because this will remain with them throughout their lives. If we can reach children at an early age, I believe it will make a difference. This thought brings me tremendous joy.”—Tina Louise

4-0 out of 5 stars Vibrant Illustrations
"WHen I grow Up" is a charming book with vibrant illustrations. My 2 year and 4 year old niece and newphew liked this book, but I doubt it will become one of their favorites. The characters can seem random at times and the juxtaposition between the "if a ____ can ____, then I can ____" can be a little too...abstract.For example - "if an elephant can shake hands, then i can be president."The connection between elephants and political parties as well as shaking hands and winning voters over may be something I can get, but it's a stretch and obviously any toddler will be confused.Overall, the book is simple enough to win the attention of kids and provide a colorful, educational diversion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable for a wide range of ages
The content was wonderfully written and illustrated. My 4 year old daughter enjoyed it as much as my 8 year old son. My son was able to read it to her and learned a few new words. They both started to make associations between other professions and the things other animals can do that were not mentioned in the book. They had lots of fun trying to come up with funny animal creations. I had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Louise and it was refreshing to hear her passion and commitment to children. I highly recommend this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars CUTE BOOK, GREAT LOOKING
This is a cute book for very young kids. The bright primary colors will certainly lure them to the book, and I think kids will enjoy the simple story.

4-0 out of 5 stars Colorful children's book
Reviewed by Stephanie and Parish (age 3) Rollins for Reader Views (3/07)

Tina Louise wrote "When I Grow Up" to inspire children to read and reach for their goals.Oliver Corwin illustrated "When I Grow Up."There are 30 pages of bright, bold illustrations that Parish loved. It helped that there was a lot of pink in the illustrations.

The children in "When I Grow Up" are of different colors, genders and sizes. There are funny pictures, such as a picture of two elephants shaking trunks. The butterfly is beautiful and caught Parish's eye immediately.

A few of the words are too big for beginning readers.Words such as "architect" and "archaeologist" may be too complicated for young readers to sound out. With a parent's help, "When I Grow Up" will be fun for a young reader to enjoy.

"Do you like this book?"
"Yep."She continues to turn pages.

"Why do you like it?"
"I don't know.Look at this."She points at the two elephants shaking trunks.

"I think this has pretty pictures.Look at the teacher. She is wearing a beautiful dress."
"I want a dress like that.Look."She point to the sea horse.

"That is a sea horse. They swim with fish.Do you see that boy on the big bird?"
"I don't want to do that.I would cry."

"Do you want to keep this book or give it away?"
"I want to keep it in my room."

We did not put it in her room.We kept it for three days with the perpetual pile of toys that stay on the family room floor. She did not pick it up during that time.Isaac, my 18-month-old, looked through it many times.I encouraged Parish to read it with me.She never wanted to.Regardless, this is a keeper. It is well-written and beautifully illustrated.Parish definitely does not lack self-confidence, but for children who need encouragement, "When I Grow Up" will encourage them to reach their goals.

Product Description
The second children’s book by famous author and actor Tina Louise, “What Does A Bee Do?” takes a fun and whimsical approach to a very important environmental issue: the plight of the world’s bee population. Written for young kids, the book starts with a simple question “What does a bee do?” From there the story unfolds with three brightly illustrated children and an adorable honey bee who explains that she does much more than make honey. She’s responsible for most of the fruits, vegetables and nuts that we love to eat! Colorful, educational and a great environmental message on the importance of our bees and what we can do to help them. Product Description
Li'l Abner is a 1959 musical film based on the comic strip of the same name created by Al Capp. It was also based on a successful Broadway musical that opened in 1956. The movie was produced by Norman Panama and directed by Melvin Frank Some music was adapted directly from the Broadway production, but the original portions of the motion picture score were written and conducted by Nelson Riddle and Joseph J. Lilley, which earned them an Oscar nomination for Best Score in 1960 and earned Riddle a Grammy nomination for Best Soundtrack Album. The movie was released on December 11, 1959 by Paramount Pictures. Almost every major character in the movie was played by the same person who held that role in the original Broadway cast. Notable exceptions are Daisy Mae. ... Read more

Product Description
Born on June 29, 1983, Tina Louise Gansert was destined to help the world. Always concerned for others, she never put herself first. At a very young age she encountered more than any child should. As a result of her life’s experiences, she decided it was best to write down how she was feeling to relieve herself of the hurtful impressions. Giving birth to a baby boy was one of her life’s greatest blessings. Shortly thereafter, she was married and endured a severely abusive relationship, which lasted a while. Since her divorce and losing her child, she vowed to do what she could to prevent others from enduring for so long what she did. She began to talk about her past with others and realized she should continue writing and publish a book for others to read with hopes of touching their hearts. ... Read more
