Product Description
Lee Marvin did not receive his first starring film role until he was 40, but in three short years—following the successes of Cat Ballou (for which he won the Academy Award as Best Actor), The Professionals and especially The Dirty Dozen—he was the most popular film actor in America. Marvin was a fascinating man, a loving husband and father, and one of the most natural, effective actors of his time. This is a comprehensive reference of the Oscar-winning actor’s work. It includes biographical information on Marvin, an analysis of each of his 64 movies, chapters on his two television shows (M Squad and Lawbreaker), a listing of his television appearances, and a complete filmography (which includes video availability). The work is supplemented with dozens of photographs and film stills. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Marvin the Works
An interesting book to read, but very negative in parts. The best thing to do is see Marvin's films then read about it in the book, so you've already made your own mind up. The book brings across the authors own likes and dislikes about Marvin's films and career,i felt that it was a bit to influenced by his own likes and dislikes. At the end of the day you either like Lee Marvin and his film's or you don't. Personally i love the bloke and enjoy his film's and the many characters that he played. Marvin maybe dead but he'll never be forgotten with the work he left behind for us all to enjoy.

Product Description
At sixteen, Betty runs away from the small river town she's always known, to live in Los Angeles with her father, an outrageous used car salesman and avid gambler. It is the first journey in what will be a remarkable life among remarkable people: Betty's first job out of college is as Joan Crawford's nanny, caring for the Crawford children at the height of the star's career. Hollywood is about to play an even larger role in Betty's life when she meets a young ambitious actor named Lee Marvin. After a whirlwind courtship and a trip to Las Vegas, Betty and Lee are married. In this unique memoir, both hilarious and touching, we follow Betty as she creates a family with Lee, and is by his side as he works with Marlon Brando, John Wayne and a host of other stars. She is the penultimate hostess and Hollywood Housewife. Nobody knew what was really going on at home - until, unable to take Lee's womanizing, drinking and abuse, Betty leaves him and strikes out on her own. What follows are adventures that could only be Betty Marvin's; from the building of her career as an artist. To a love affair with an Italian King, to dire straits as investment con artists leave Betty suddenly homeless. After years of the Hollywood life, Betty is left with only her car, her dog and her typewriter. Forced to employ all of her skills to survive, she comes out on top. This is the story of a woman who finds the real riches that come with learning the value of a joyful life. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than tabloid
Reviewed by S.G. Smith for Reader Views (10/10)

If you are someone who is fascinated with reading tabloid magazines to get the latest scoop on Hollywood royalty, you are going to love "Tales of a Hollywood Housewife."Betty Marvin, ex-wife of Hollywood star Lee Marvin, gives you a behind-the-scenes look at what celebrity life was really about - before reality television became the norm.

Betty's firsthand account of going from poor girl in Washington to the wife of actor Lee Marvin reads as if she is sitting with you and telling you the story in your own living room.It is easy to forget that you are reading a book instead of actually listening to this woman tell you about her children, her homes, her escapades from one crazy situation to another, to how she came out on top after having nothing. It is hard not to sympathize with everything Betty went through and put up with for the sake of her children - and her sanity.

One of the most entertaining accounts of Betty's life is when she recounts serving as a nanny to Joan Crawford's children.Having the affirmation that the subtext of the title "Mommy Dearest" is spellbinding and then learning about the real personalities of other Hollywood "royalty" members is captivating.Betty easily brings you into her life and shows you around, all the while maintaining the air of grace that she was known for.

"Tales of a Hollywood Housewife" is an entertaining read which shows that all of the glitz-and-glamour of Hollywood really is make-believe.

5-0 out of 5 stars Always with a smile
I agree with other reviewers in that I could not put this book down.Reading Betty's book and picturing her journey makes me admire her even more. The book is written with such love of life and is an inspiration to us all that through ups and downs we can go on and face any situation if we have the right attitude. To know her is to love her and her spirit shines and smiles. She is an amazing lady who loves deeply and cares about her family and friends with such emotion. I recommend this book and you will want to read it again and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tales of a Hollywood Housewife: A Memoir by the First Mrs. Lee Marvin
I could not put this book down! It is a well written and fast paced story -- was sorry to reach the end. Betty Marvin emerges as a woman of great talent, strength and determination. The behind the scenes Hollywood stories are fascinating but her journey through life after Hollywood is simply inspiring. A must read! I highly recommend this memoir.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tales of a Hollywood Housewife
Betty Marvin's well written book is a testament to her life experiences - the peaks and valleys - and her will to survive and move on.It gives readers a true understanding of Betty'sroots, her Hollywood marriage and lifestyle, and Lee Marvin's up and down personality - all written in a fascinating, poignant, and sometimes humorous way.I highly recommend Betty's book for an informative and entertaining read.Well done, Betty!

5-0 out of 5 stars Humorous Hollywood Housewife!
I couldn't put Betty Marvin's memoirs down until I was finished with it. Besides her life as the Hollywood Housewife of Lee Marvin the movie star and the mother of his children, it's a highly entertaining look at other times in her fascinating life. Told with great humor, the scenes and characters are painted with a highly descriptive brush that reflects the Zeitgeist of those colorful eras. This book's a winner. You've just got to read it! ... Product Description
An intimate glimpse into the life of Lee Marvin from the person who knew him best.Childhood sweethearts, they married other people, finding each other again after several broken marriages and staying together until Lee Marvin's death. Also contains Marvin's journals of World War II where he was seriously wounded.Amazon.com Review
Actor Lee Marvin's widow has written a touching book thatconcentrates on their years together, though she mentions nearly everyperformance, from his coffee-throwing hoodlum in The Big Heatthrough his Oscar-winning gunslinger in Cat Ballou andbeyond. Pamela Feeley and Lee Marvin fell in love in 1945, when shewas 15 and he was a 21-year-old veteran; they parted in 1948 when heleft Woodstock, New York, to pursue his acting career. In 1970, bothdivorced with children, they met again and married. Instead of theusual "and then he starred in" chronology, Marvin offers chapters onthe couple's mutual passions, like fishing and Australia, plus 200pages on the infamous 1979 palimony suit filed by ex-girlfriendMichelle Triola (who, unsurprisingly, comes across as a vengefulnut). Peculiar though this structure is, it works. As the author movesbackwards and forwards in time--opening with Marvin's 1987 burial inArlington National Cemetery with full marine corps honors, andzigzagging from their youthful romance to their marriage, his warservice, the palimony trial, and the final years of ill health--amoving portrait emerges. She is frank about Marvin's drinking andother peccadilloes, but her loving account stresses his generosity, loyalty, and old-fashioned sense of honor. --Wendy Smith ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars LEE MARVIN BIO? DON'T BE FOOLED!
The title of this book is Lee: A Romance, as if to suggest it is a biography of legendary actor Lee Marvin and the love life the author spent with him. That's NOT what this book is. It is the author's autobiography and her years with and without the famous movie star. His most influential period in film history, the mid and late 60s, is completely ignored. Instead we read about Pame Marvin's countless other relationships! Don't be fooled by this book -- a great biography on the life of Lee Marvin has to exist some time but it certainly is NOT this book!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lee and Pam
In the 1970's I went to the Downer family reunion in Woodstock, NY. Both Lee and Pam were there, two very gracious people. This story is sweet, true love at its finest hour.

5-0 out of 5 stars Understanding miracles of ionic silver (colloidal silver)

If you want to understand more about ionic silver and its healing properties, this is the book.

A Miraculous Heath Substance emphasizes the importance of using ionic silver as colloidal silver rather than other forms of silver. This book points out that silver nitrate and silver sulfate are actually harmful and can cause argyria.

Mr. Robey explains how ionic silver, with its positive charge, accomplishes its anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti fungus ability. The healing properties are described in a way not found in other literature. I now understand the concept of measuring ionic silver by particles per cubic centimeter (smaller and more numerous particles) rather than just Parts per million. He describes why smaller particles are far more effective.

I have been using colloidal silver, as ionic silver, periodically for years with good results against flu and infections.

I highly recommend this book for a deeper understanding of ionic silver's ability to heal. ... Read more
