Product Description

Nothing’s more magical than going down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass with Alice. There, in worlds unlike any other ever created, conventional logic is turned upside down and wrong-way round to enchanting effect. Children will love reading Carroll’s many humorous nonsense verses and meeting such unforgettable characters as the Mad Hatter, the Knave of Hearts who steals some tarts, and the grinning Cheshire Cat (in Alice in Wonderland) and Tweedledee, Tweedledum, Humpty Dumpty, and the Jabberwock (in Through the Looking Glass).

3-0 out of 5 stars The Wonderland of Alice
This book does not have the cachet of the original, nor does it have the well remembered quaint rythms of such as --I'm late! I'm LATE, for a most important DATE! Oh, goodness gracious me I'm Late! But it will do, most effectively, to introduce a child to the main elements of the story. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than some DVD
I am giving this 4-stars cause 5 would be perfect. I am a hobby guitarist and do not get to play much anymore. I am from the classic rock era and am trying to add some country knowledge to my playing. Although DVDs are the rage in this day and age I found this book to be quite helpful for getting a feel for what some of the country greats are doing in their solo's and the choice of solo's was enjoyable. I liked the way Todd plays each solo fast, slow, and then discusses playing technics for each one. This may not be of benefit if you are a Twang Tele expert already. For beginning and intermediate players each of these solos at recorded tempo is a challenge. I really like this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rhythmless transcription but otherwise superb
I agree with foxxymoron.net that you are paying for the transcription work and CD only. The first thing that caught my attention was the fact that there is no rhythm notated. All you get is handwritten numbers on pre-printed tab paper.Fret numbers, slides, bends, pre-bends, hammer-ons and offs and releases are pretty much the only notation in the book. The plastic comb binding is average but the pages stay open easily. The cover is just thick non-glossy paper so the book itself has a "homemade with a color printer" look to it.

All that being said up front....I LOVE this book and CD.It is not for beginners although I suppose if you're tackling these solos, you've been playing a while. Todd plays each solo at full speed (no metranome), s l o w speed (with metranome) and then walks you step by step through each note/phrase.He also throws in insightful commentary and mentions techniques in the solos that have also used by other players. The CD is an hour and 13 minutes long and Todd's voice and guitar are recorded well. The transcriptions (so far) have been dead on.

Anyone interested in learning these solos should really check out this book.It spells them out in a very clear fashion. The price is what you would pay for a half hour lesson at any music store and this will keep you busy much longer than that!I was going to give it 4 stars for lack of notation but the CD is so clear that I'm giving it 5 :-) ... Excerpt: Matt Bronleewe is an American record producer, musician, novelist and songwriter. Matt Bronleewe was born in Dallas, Texas, but as a young boy moved to central Kansas, Lorraine, with his family so his father could take on the family farm. The family moved onto the farmstead a few years later and Matt lived there until he graduated from Quivira Heights High School in 1992. Bronleewe studied music at Greenville College in the town of Greenville, Illinois where he met Dan Haseltine, Charlie Lowell and Stephen Mason. Together the four of them formed the group Jars of Clay, named after a verse in the Bible. The group began performing around their college and later recorded their debut demo album Frail. Following the demo's release, the group's fame spread, and they were approached by Christian record label Essential Records to record a full length studio album. At this time, the group had not completed their studies. Bronleewe decided to stay behind to finish school, while the rest of the band members decided to accept the recording offer. Bronleewe left the group and Lowell suggested his New York based friend Matt Odmark to take Bronleewe's place. Matt was married in August 1994 and lived for one year in Sterling, IL where he continued to work on his studies. In the summer of 1995, Matt was invited to reenter the world of music when another Greenville College student, Sarah Jahn invited him to play guitar for an independent CD she was recording, and later asked him to play guitar for her full time. Matt moved to Nashville, Tenn., and played with Jahn as well as pursuing other avenues of song writing and record production. Bronleewe...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=13008260 ... Read more
