Product Description
Sirena is a beautiful young woman.  By night she strips at Silky Femmes, enticing large tips from conventioneers and salesmen passing through the small Florida city where she lives.

Sirena is also a loyal and compassionate friend to the denizens of Silky Femmes.  There’s Chrissie, who is a fellow dancer as well as the boss’s abused and beleaguered girlfriend.  And Ross, the bartender, who spends a lot of time worrying about the petite, delicate, and lovely Sirena. Maybe too much time.

There’s also Detective Williams.  He’s looking for a missing man and his investigation takes him to Silky’s.  Like so many others, he finds Sirena irresistible. But again, like so many others, he’s underestimated Sirena.

Because Sirena has a hobby.  Not just any hobby.  From the stage she searches out men with the solid bone structure she requires.  The ones she picks get to go home with her where she will perform one last private strip for them.  They can’t believe their luck.  They simply don’t realize it’s just run out. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good reading
Hi. Well all books are different. It is a stretch of a very imaginative mind. I enjoyed reading this book. I have yet to be disappointed by Mary Ann Mitchell's writing. The products, all books, I have bought from Amazon have been in good condition. Thanks PSM:)

4-0 out of 5 stars A Serial Killer Story You Won't Soon Forget!!!
"Siren's Call" is one serial killer story that the reader won't soon forget! Why do you ask?The answer is two fold really. One the killer is female and her method is to kill at the moment her "guest" reaches climax.Second she uses the victims to make her unusual furniture. The bed she kills on is made totally of human bone and one can't forget the stool that is "Marty."

Sirena is a stripper and has had a rather hard life.Still she has friends such as Chrissie the girlfriend of the strip club owner, and Ross the bartender.Still her life is not a happy one and her killing is about to catch up with her.Her last victim causes police and a P.I. to look into his disappearance. The cop wants her and the P.I. is sure she killed the victim., The end though is nothing like you think it will be. What will happen to everyone that has anything to do with "Silky's Femme" the strip club?

This is truly an edge of your seat read.Ms. Mitchell manages to tie all loose ends together in a way that the reader will not feel cheated.Sirena is truly an evil character but she vividly comes to life on the pages. The reader will alternate between horror and interest on what makes this character tick!I highly recommend Ms. Mitchell read.It will offer readers something new and fresh in a genre that at times seems saturated with mediocre attempts at suspense.

4-0 out of 5 stars sirens call : extremely alluring
I was fortunate to have read an advanced copy of this book and was extremely impressed by MS. Mitchells imagination into the dark and seedy life of a stripper. I must say I started becoming a fan most recently after reading her vampire novels. I think one of the most enjoyable parts of the book was finding out how she so cleverly weaves loose ends and creates a tapestry of plausable and at times frightening details of the events. I originally compared her to Anne Rice but now must change my oppinion after reading "The Sirens Call" and now consider her talent more like John Grisham. I would have rated this book a five but chose selfishly not to for one reason and one reason only. It ended! I urge my fellow readers, this is a book you will find hard to put down as I read it in only 1 day. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Mitchells books in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars strong serial killer thriller
Sirena ran away from home as a young teen to escape the vicious beatings inflicted on her by her father. She moved in with Joe who had her make kiddie porn movies until she told him she wasn't going to do it anymore. Now she works as a stripper at Silky Femmes in a small out of the way Florida town. She has friends she cares about like the bartender Ross who keeps an eye out for her and the girlfriend of the owner Chrissie.

Sirena also has a very interesting hobby. She picks up men at the club and brings them to her isolated cabin. She has sex with them and at their moment of climax she kills them. She takes their bones and makes furniture out of them but the police and a private detective are beginning to think she's a killer. Both the private detective and the police know she was the last person to see a john she picked up alive; the private detective thinks she might be a killer while the police officer wants to jump her bones.Sirena thinks that Chrissie will make a good partner in her hobby but letting her in on her secret leads to a whole new set of problems for this killing machine.

SIRENA'S CALL is horror of the human kind. There are no supernatural beings in this serial killer thriller but Serena is the personification of pure evil. She repels readers just as Stephen King's monsters do because they can't believe she is capable of such atrocities. The denizens of Silky Femmes are all criminals to one degree or another which is one of the reasons this book is so chilling and mesmerizing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, isn't that clever
I have known the author all my life, she is my Mother! While this is her first published work I have had the good fortune of hearing and being enchanted by her stories all my life. They are all a magnificent journey to enjoy and are as good as any, in fact better then most published childrens books you'll find. Big Shot And Teeny Weeny is something that the adults enjoy as much as the children because the stories reveal so much simple wisdom and takes you to a giddy understanding of lifes joys. Adults are constantly saying to themselves "oh, isn't that clever". While the kids are enjoyng the fun rythm of the story and just getting it! The 2 CD's that are included in the Book are REAL easy on the ears and are asked for by my three year old all the time (then we all have a pleasant ride!). I think this book would be enjoyed by kids through 10 years old and then again when they are all grown up. So save it for the Grandchildren!

5-0 out of 5 stars Whimsical, Fun & Educational
I loved this book and CD!

You can't help but smile and bounce along to these fun filled tales. The music is bright and lively and the characters so lovable!

As a past teacher, I also appreciate that this book does not limit its vocabulary for children. It's full of all sorts of rich and whimsical words - children and adults will love sharing it together!

A must hear to appreciate!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Big Guy Gets Advice from a Little Guy
I was at a luncheon show casing authors. I heard some of the CD that is part of this book's entertainment package. The irrepessible quality of this author and the sound of her music and voice convinced me to get a copy for my granddaughters.

How sweet it is to have music an adult can love, too, when driving in the car with little ones. How sweet it is to have a story an adult can relate to when reading to them at night. Thank you, Mary Ann Mitchell.

1-0 out of 5 stars No new info here
I was dissappointed in this book as most of the information contained is common knowledge. The same points are often made several times throughout the book and nothing is expanded on.Even a complete novice should look elsewhere for an informative book on the subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must get book for the woodlot, nature preserve owner/manager
fantastic book with a lot of great advise that i have read in bits and pieces in other books but is all in one with this.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you own a small or large woodlot this is a book to have
This book will help anyone who owns property and wants to improve your timberstand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction for the new woodlands owner
This book offers a solid introduction to woodlot ownership. The book covers conservation, measurement, and some legal/inheritance issues. The book takes you step-by-step through the basic process of each of these areas.I found the chapter on measurement to be a good quick-and-dirty guide to measuring your timber.Other reviewers have faulted the book for being too simplistic or referring woodlot owners to professional forresters, but I found it to be a good starting point for a complicated subject.

Each chapter and many special sections contain references to other sources of information.I found this particularly helpful in the measurement section.I have a couple of other books that are very detailed in the area of measurement. This book summarized the process in one chapter and provided numerous other sources for more detail in the form of state forestry articles that would have otherwise been dificult to locate.

The book is simple on some levels but it is clear that the authors love forestry (particulary stewardship) and want to convey both the knowlege and the joy of woodland ownership.A GREAT book for beginning your journey into this complex subject.

1-0 out of 5 stars Extremely Basic
This book is essentially applied common sense. If you have ever thought about balancing multiple uses on your land or public lands then you don't need this book.

Extremely remedial and basic stuff -- nothing really actionable in the book. I much preferred Working with your Woodland by Beattie, but have not read Morsbach. ... Read more

Excerpt:John "Ace" Cannon (born 5 May 1934 in Grenada , Mississippi ) is an American tenor and alto saxophonist . He played and toured with Hi Records stablemate Bill Black s Combo, and started a solo career with his record "Tuff" in 1961, using the Black combo as his backing group. "Tuff" hit #17 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1962, and the follow-up single "Blues (Stay Away from Me)" hit #36 that same year. In April 1965, he released Ace Cannon Live (HL 12025); according to the liner notes by Nick Pesce the album was recorded in front of a live audience inside Hi's recording studio, and Pesce claims this was the first time such an album had ever been recorded (as opposed to previous live albums recorded in concert venues). 4-0 out of 5 stars Tried and True
I've used Summer Bridge Activities for all of my children for several years. These workbooks keep them used to the kinds of problems they face in school, and avoids the summer brain-drain.I have found a few errors (spelling and issues with the answer key), but they are fairly minor and do not take away from the learning aspects of the material. There are not a lot of pre-printed summer learning workbooks, and I've found this series to be helpful. They can get a little boring, so supplement with some online or outside learning as well.My kids find most of the worksheets to be quite easy, and even repetitive, and they generally complete them within twenty minutes.I have seen a difference with the start of school, and it takes them less time to get into the learning mode.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for Kids
My kids always enjoy doing these over the summer. I appreciate that they have bible based lessons as well:)

5-0 out of 5 stars .
My sister-in-law uses this book each Summer with my nephews and they love it.She has to hide the books until Summer, so they don't work ahead!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
This is a good book but don't be fooled by the addition of "for young Christians" at the end of the title. This is the same book as Summer Bridge Activities except the page numbers are in an ark graphic instead of a star like the other book. There is a Vacation Bible Camp section at the end of the book but otherwise, it is just regular writing, math and other activities to keep up your child's skills over the summer. I bought both books because I had hoped for daily devotions or daily Christian activities in the "for Young Christians" version but I was disappointed. It's a good resource, just be sure you know what it is and don't misunderstand what you are actually getting.
