Excerpt: His Excellency Federico Alberto Cuello Camilo (Santo Domingo, 1966) is a diplomat of the Dominican Republic. He is currently the Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations in New York, with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. He presented his letters of credence to Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General, on 3rd June 2009. Cuello was educated at the University of Illinois and the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology. He has a Ph. D. in Regional Science and Development Economics (University of Illinois, 1994); an M. A. in Economic Theory and Econometrics (University of Illinois, 1990) and a B. Sc. in Economics, Magna Cum Laude (Technological Institute of Santo Domingo, 1987). From 1999 to 2002, Cuello was the Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. In December 2004, he became the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the European Union, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
