My thoughts refer to the unabridged audiobook
Regis is one of my favorite celebrities! He is a down-to-earth family man who approaches life with good humor and a likeable manner. I enjoyed accompanying him as he talked through some typical days in his very busy life. Listening to him more than a decade after he shared these reflections gave the story an outdated feel, as a lot of the pop-culture personalities he mentions have disappeared from the scene, and the old-timers he reminisced about are way before my time. As well, now that he is paired with Kelly Ripa, he seems younger, hipper and more light-hearted than he was at the time he recorded this memoir. She brings out something special in him that Kathie Lee never did.

The book is a nice representation of the entertainment business and pop-culture, made all the better when expressed by a personable and respected celebrity like Regis.

Regis's book logs many of the days(incl some holidays) between 6/15/94-5/19/95 withsome of the yesterdays prior to 6/14/94 .....Good intro by the Regis and Cathy Live staff at that time( Michael Gelman and Cathy Lee Gifford) Gelman still Gelman and Cathy Lee ,has moved on for even better someday.. ,plus there is much levity through out( It was given as a gift to me for Xmas 2000,I've skimmed through the entire book and got a few chuckles withouteven getting to much into the NY ,NY details(photos were great,& joke about Perry Como quite funny). Funny and enlightening
Reading this book is like sitting down with Regis and listening to him tell you stories.You will be able to look deeper into the man that engages in Host Chat with Kathie Lee everyday.This book is an example ofhow far Regis really came in life and how hard he had to work for it.Thiscan almost be a self-help book in a way because it portrays the commitmentto excellence put forth by Regis to achieve his dream....and did he ever!

A great, fun read!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.I learned things about Regis that you won't learn by watching him on TV. I enjoyed reading about his trials and tribulations of his career, from his early days to the present.I haverecommended this books to others.Whoever has my copy, please return it! This is one book you can read again.

I mean...
I heard this dude was arrogant and a diva.Then I remembered one show where the plugged this book from the hot seat on Millionaire.I mean, take a look at the cover of this book and tell me you don't believe this man thinks he's all that and a bag of chips.Of, course I've read the book front to back...

Who Wants To Be Me?
Regis Philbin, one of America's most know figures in the television entertainment industry, has taken this book very high. In here, you can expect short, true stories that really do make you chuckle. These make Regis what he is. I do recommend this book! -John

This book is fair. If you are a Regis follower and watch his LIVE show this book will be boring. He has toldmany of these stories on the air.

I like Regis, but I wanted to read something different from what we hear on his daily show.

Regis likes to RANT!
OK, I'm an all-out Who Wants To Be a Millionaire fan, so I expected to like this book.(Hey, don't expect to like a biography, and certainly not an autobiography, if you don't like the person it's about and you don't like their style.)

Judging by the style of the writing, I believe this book was written by Regis sitting down with a tape recorder and telling stories.If you like his stories on Live! you'll like this book.He tells of travel frustrations, chainsaw envy, celebrity troubles, and Millionaire success.The style of the writing is just like his speaking style:"I wanted a CHAINSAW!And no one took me SERIOUSLY!"

The book includes plenty of comments from Joy and the two Philbin daughters, excerpts from the Live! show, David Letterman Top Ten lists, etc.This is no War and Peace, but it's a good, fun read.Here's hoping it will give me some subjects to bounce off of Regis when I make it to that Millionaire seat.

Nothing here for trivia buffs
Regis is associated with the successful trivia show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire", but there is no trivia here. Perhaps Regis should read the book "Quizzing" which is a book with some great trivia questions and answers. ... Read more

Oh yeah!
Oh yeah...another winner by regis and kathie lee. This book is a good addition to your bookshelf if you're keen on entertaining, giving parties,or just looking for holiday tips. While most of their books are good, Ifoud this especially helpful since it even covered holidays and parties. Icame across many new and different ideas, not to mention ones that areeconomical and REALLY REALLY useful. If you've read all there is to read onthis subject, then this book is just another one of them, but if not, thenthis is a definite addition to your bookshelf. Compelling insight into the world of a Fightin' Irish coach
Gerry Faust was a man equally passionate about his faith as he was about football. Although he might not appreciate it, in reading the book I found myself reminded of Jimmy Carter. Both were honorable and honest men who came from humble beginnings and landed the greatest jobs in the country, only to find themselves a bit overwhelmed by the demands and expectations of the positions they held.

In this book, Coach Faust presents an honest account of the good times and bad, and provides insight into some of the decisions he made and lessons he learned. He and his co-author also offer the views from others who have a different take on certain situations. The result is a fascinating and balanced account of being at the center of America's most storied college football program. For those who are familiar with Notre Dame, you will also enjoy reading Coach Faust's accounts of his time on campus and his relationships with many of the players, recruits, and the university's administration, specifically Fr. Hesburgh and Fr. Joyce.

Not Good - Not Bad - But Why Did They Lose So Big??
An interesting read for a Notre Dame fan; but never a plausibe explanation for why Notre Dame lost so big under Faust (who seemed like a good guy....just way overmatched for that job).The last 30 years or so seems to show one thing about ND football, they hire the right coach (Ara, Devine, Holtz.....now Weiss??) and they win big.They hire the wrong coach (Faust, Davies, etc.) and they lose big.

Faust obviously loves the school (feels like he loves the school more than he loves football) which is great for an administrator, but not for the head coach of the team.

Great man, Great school, Great story
I met Coach Faust at ND, where he signed my copy.I attended the University of Notre Dame during his first two years, and I remember defeating LSU and being ranked #1.

Coach is a great human being who was given the opportunity of a lifetime.He was not overly successful, but how many get their life-long dream?

Easy and fun to read and a great learning experience.

The Golden Dream -- I was there
I was at ND for Coach Faust's first two years.I remember his first game win against LSU and being ranked #1.I also recall his inspirational talks in that raspy voice of his.

Yes, he did NOT have a great won loss record.But he won some huge games and put a lot of points on the board.(Contrast with Ty Willingham's recent results.)He also recruited many of the players who were part of the 1988 championship.

Classy man, inspirational coach and someone whom I will always hold in high regard -- I really enjoyed the book.

Gerry Faust represents what is good in sports today.No he did not have great teams at Notre Dame but he is a true role-model for both coaches and athletes.The good natured stories kept you from putting the book down. He truly cares about people.
