Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Parker Christian Posey (born November 8, 1968) is an American actress. She became known during the 1990s after a series of roles in several well-received independent films. As a result, she has often been referred to as the "Queen of the Indies". Posey was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Lynda, a chef, and Chris Posey, who owned a Chevrolet dealership. She has a twin brother, Christopher. Posey's first name was a tribute by her father to 1950's supermodel Suzy Parker. After Posey's birth, the family moved to Laurel, Mississippi where her mother worked as a chef and culinary instructor for the Viking Range Corporation in Greenwood, and her father operated a car dealership, Posey Chevrolet, in Laurel. Product Description
Landmark, groundbreaking, classic—these adjectives barely describe the earthshaking and long-lasting effects of Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique. This is the book that defined "the problem that has no name," that launched the Second Wave of the feminist movement, and has been awakening women and men with its insights into social relations, which still remain fresh, ever since. A new introduction by the bestselling author Anna Quindlen traces the book in her own story and how it was prescient on consumer culture as well as domestic issues.

“Betty Friedan has been and remains a bridge between conservative and radical elements in feminism, an ardent advocate of harmony and human values.”—MarilynFrench, Esquire

“One of those rare books we are endowed with only once in several decades, a volume that launched a major social movement. …Betty Friedan is a liberator of women and men."—Amitai Etzioni, author of The Spirit of Community: The Reinvention of American Society

5-0 out of 5 stars A new favorite author!
I have found a new favorite author.Kate White does a great job writing a detailed mystery full of suspense and a kick butt female writer/detective all while providing interesting characters and some casual romance.I will definitely be reading more Bailey Weggins by Kate White!

2-0 out of 5 stars If Looks Could Kill
Several of the disks are very badly scratched to the point that they would not play.

4-0 out of 5 stars Poisoned chocolates
A good beach read that will keep you turning the pages to find out who poisoned the Godiva and killed the nanny.

You won't be bored as Bailey Weggins, a freelance writer for a fashion magazine, investigates the death of her friend's nanny. The characters are a bit one-dimensional and they all seemed rather cold to me except for Bailey's friend Landon, the ever-present gay friend that seems to be a must have in all novels based in New York these days;however, this is still an engaging read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just plain fun
Kate White's books are all fun to read and easy to lose yourself in. This one is no exception! Perfect to stash in a beach bag and read when you have a whole day to devote--you won't want to put it down! It's not a "lowest common denominator" kind of mystery--it's actually quite thrilling without being too twisted to follow. I loved every minute, and look forward to reading more of Kate White's books.

4-0 out of 5 stars An easy "who done it" read.
Fun read. The author leads you to believe everyone is guilty.Definitely a book to make any commute bearable. ... Read more

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

And if I should die before I awake,

I pray the popular attend my wake.

Charlotte Usher feels practically invisible at school, and then one day she really is invisible.Even worse: she's dead. And all because she choked on a gummy bear. But being dead doesn't stop Charlotte from wanting to be popular; it just makes her more creative about achieving her goal.

If you thought high school was a matter of life or death, wait till you see just how true that is. In this satirical, yet heartfelt novel, Hurley explores the invisibility we all feel at some times and the lengths we'll go to be seen.

Praise for ghostgirl:

* Polished dark-and-deadpan humor, it's a natural fit with Gen Y, too."--Publishers Weekly (starred review)

* "[Tonya] beats out witty teen-speak like a punk-band drummer, keeping the narrative fast-paced and fun yet thought-provokingly heartwarming.Goofy, ghastly, intelligent, electrifying."--Kirkus (starred review)

5-0 out of 5 stars She's Just Dying To Be Noticed!
Charlotte Usher is a nobody, ignored, overlooked and easily forgotten. She has spent her whole school life being invisible, never popular enough to be cool, never unpopular enough to be ridiculed. But this year is going to be different. Charlotte has spent her holidays hard at work planing, manicuring and making-over her image. This year she is determined to be noticed by all the right people, even if it kills her. Unfortunately for Charlotte that's exactly what happens.

Being dead is not so different from being alive; at least it isn't for Charlotte. However her not being seen ever is putting a dampener on her plans. That is until Charlotte stumbles upon a most unlikely, alive, ally in the most extraordinary of circumstances. What Charlotte says she needs is closure, in order to finally move on and accept her death, but what Charlotte wants is a life and more importantly a kiss.

Ghostgirl is a quirky, dark and heartfelt tale that shows that just because you're dead doesn't mean you can't be popular. In Charlotte's desperation to attain her hearts desire she resorts to extreme and forbidden actions, however those actions have consequences affecting not only herself but those around her. With poetry, maggots, cupcakes and musical references the result is a style and tone that is delightfully haunting. Charlotte may be dead but that won't keep her from love.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ghostgirl
Ghostgirl is a fun look at what the afterlife might look like for a young teenage girl. In this book Charlotte Usher spends her entire summer figuring out a plan to be less a part of the woodwork and more a part of the popular crowd including the cutest boy in school for a boyfriend. All seems to be going her way, until after her first class she chokes on a gummy bear and dies. Her job now is to figure out what is holding her back from moving on to the next phase of the afterlife.Charlotte becomes part of a group of teens that have passed away that still have unfinished business. All the teens must figure out what is keeping them here and work together before they can move on.Charlotte is stuck between wanting to keep her goals set on getting Damen (the boy) or figuring out what she needs to do to move on in the afterlife.

The story is a fun read, although somewhat predictable in nature.I enjoyed watching Charlotte's antics as she learned to deal with being dead and dealing with the fact that Damen was not hers for the taking.

3-0 out of 5 stars Campy and fun
Warning -- this is not a serious, depressing book about death or the afterlife -- it's a fun, campy romp about a girl who dies (by choking to death on a gummy bear in an empty classroom)and whose passing is barely noticed because she was such a nonentity at her high school.

Charlotte spent the entire summer before senior year making herself over with the sole intent of gaining the attention of one of the most popular boys at school, Damen Dylan. Her "Popular Plan" included changing the way she looked and acted to become not only noticed, but envied, and thus part of the "in" crowd at Hawthorne High. Part of her goal included being asked to the Fall Ball and receiving the legendary Midnight Kiss from that boy of her dreams. Unfortunately, everything goes awry on the first day of school and Charlotte finds herself in Dead Ed trying to figure out how she's going to get her true love from beyond the grave. She decides to possess a living girl, Scarlet - a goth teen who is the complete opposite of the cheerleader crowd and the younger sister of Petula, one of the most envied in the school -- and Petula is the girl who just happens to have the boyfriend that Charlotte craves. Havoc and confusion ensue as Charlotte and Scarlet both fall head over heels for Damen (sensitive, dumb jock?) and both arrive at a realization about themselves that neither anticipates.

Parts of the book are laugh out loud funny as the satirical and pop references combine to create the puns that drive the story. Colorful "dead" characters (nicknamed for the method or cause of death) and stereotypical live high school kids mix it up in some amusing ways, but after all the effort at being clever, sometimes the joke falls flat and it all gets a little tedious at the end.

This story wraps up nicely -- but there's a hint that the saga will continue and it does in ghostgirl: Homecoming and a third book just released, ghostgirl: Lovesick. I might skim those two to see what happens in the further adventures of the dead Charlotte Usher.

The cutout black, pink and silver cover is enticing and unusual making this one book that teens will pick up and check out! Enjoy a few laughs.

3-0 out of 5 stars Review from So Many Books, So Little Time
This book had both its good and bad aspects to me.I liked the plot.I liked the idea of the girl who wanted to be popular dying but still having a goth girl be able to see her.And there were definitely some funny lines. But I felt it was really shallow. There wasn't anything deep about the book. Not that thats always bad.But it just felt a little off for me.

I liked the quotes and the litte paragraph at the beginning of each chapter. They were fun and I couldn't wait to get to the next one. There was a small surprise at the end, at the dance but I kind of saw it coming (just not in the actual way that it did.)

And I have to say, the hardback cover is amazing!I love how it looks like a coffin but has plastic around it so it's see-through.So cool!

4-0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too
Charlotte thinks that now that she's crossed over, it will be Heaven.Instead, she ends up as an intern answering calls from troubled teens with her other Dead Ed classmates.

But while her classmates' phones ring off the hook, Charlotte's doesn't ring at all.Meanwhile, Petula, Hawthorne High's most popular girl, ends up in a coma and her sister, Scarlet, is determined to save her.And to do that she needs Charlotte's help.

This book was like a typical sequel in that it just wasn't as good as the first book.HOMECOMING just seemed really far-fetched.Not that the premise could ever really happen, anyway, but for some reason to me this one just seemed really out there.

It was still a fun read, though.I once again loved Scarlet's sarcasm and one-liners.She's just so funny!

And I really liked what happened at the very, very end.I didn't see it coming and I'm really glad that it did.It ended the book on a really good note.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first book...
I think that the first book was much better, though you learn more about scarlet and patonia, throught the book it seems that the author totally lost the hole consipt of the main charactor charlote. The hole book has you wonder where is carlote?? and it was no where near as funny at the first ghostgirl book. Pretty much the hole book you are dealing with Scarlet trying to find her sisters close to passed on sole in the hospital. This book was okay, but i would not recomend it, and I would not read it again. I was very dissapointed and I am hoping that the 3rd book is better

Like in the previous book the intro to the chapters with the quotes and sayings are priceless! The story of homecoming is very entertaining! I recommend the series! Ready for books 3!
