Famed portrait photographer Monica Rich Kosann has spent a career helping people add a final layer of personality to their home once the interior designer’s work is done. Monica’s clients—celebrities, designers, socialites—want to find ways to add warmth and love to rooms, celebrating what they cherished most—be it family, pets, jewelry, books, or travel. Having helped countless families artfully present their family photography, heirlooms, and collectibles, she now divulges the secrets to her skill in this book. Living with What You Love shows you how to integrate your treasured objects with your home’s décor.

With inventive ideas as simple as arranging a vignette of vacation souvenirs, and as complex as covering an entire wall with family photographs and memorabilia, Living with What You Love offers the skilled guidance of Monica’s trained eye. Anything can be a stage for display: a coffee table can be arranged with collectibles; kitchen shelves a showcase for heirloom stoneware, while walls are a canvas to be covered with happy times.

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring, boring, boring.

I wish I had looked at this book before purchasing as I would not have bought it. Nothing new here.Given the title I thought it would be more broad and varied but I found it to be quite narrow in its content. Mostly about displaying photos. It was difficult to relate to the content, it appeared that most of the homes belong to people who seem to be quite wealthy and I found no common ground. I will say the author is quite great at self-promotion.Anyway I have to say I really dislike this book and it is off to become a donation to my local library.

5-0 out of 5 stars a Jewel...More than a Coffee Table Book
"Living with What You Love" is a jewel, and certainly more than a coffee table book.It does a terrific job of taking everyday things hidden in cabinets and drawers, and helps you put together those items in incredibly creative ways. Its a terrific way to make your home look arty and wonderful, but at the same time gives you great feelings as you pass by these treasures. Its also a great way to "decorate" your home in a low cost way, which is always exciting. All the best with continued success in this series!

5-0 out of 5 stars Design Freedom!
"Living with what you love" is creative and design freedom.Reading this book inspired me with confidence to attack my home.It is not about expensive pieces, interior decorators or what is right. It is all right, it is all real and it is all me.The tips throughout - and the amazing images - just start the ideas flowing. It's also a great reminder to get off your laptop and into the real world where real memories can be created. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars amazing cookbook, even more amazing food!
I adore this cookbook. I know Dana Slatkin personally and always knew she was a divine chef, but this book really sums up her incredible creativity, simple, yet delicious cuisine, and view of the California lifestyle. All recipes we have ever tried from her book are nothing short of delicious and the whole family loves it all. Our favorites have included: the chicken and grits with portobello mushrooms, the grilled vegetables with cous cous, and the snapper with tomato sauce. So wonderful. Next project: cinnamon buns :)
A MUST BUY FOR THE PRACTICAL CHEF

5-0 out of 5 stars Summertime, Anytime
We stayed at Shutters on the Beach, and I was able to look through the book in our room, and we ate at the restaurant.Terrific hotel, great book; got home and had to have it.Nice fresh food, good photos, directions are easy to follow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully creative & easy recipes
You're friends will taut you as a gourmet chef when you present any one of these recipes! EVERYTHING is delicious and easy to do... I'm not a professional chef, ask anyone, I just enjoy cooking and this book has a wonderful collection of tasty dishes. I especially enjoyed the part where she discusses the items you should always have in your pantry, like grapseed oil. Who knew? Now I use grapeseed oil for all kinds of things in addition to the recipes in this book. I love this book so much I'm going to quickly cook my way through it. I even bought it for my friend b/c she loved everything in it so much too. Lemon ricotta pancakes anyone?

5-0 out of 5 stars A Bit of Santa Monica in Boston
I love Shutters and every time I am in Santa Monica I try and go their for lunch. The food always tastes fresh, straight-forward, healthy and delicious!
I was thrilled that they now have a cookbook. The recipes are well written, simple to follow and use ingredients that are easy to get. The pictures are very enticing as well. I just made the strawberry-rhubarb cobbler and my whole family loved it. The crust is just a little lighter than I normally make and this will now become our classic cobbler recipe. If I can't be at Shutters in Santa Monica then I am happy to have the next best thing - THE SUMMERTIME ANYTIMECOOKBOOK! -

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent cook book
This is great recipe book. There are many great ideas and it's easy to find something to inspire you.I have tried half a dozen of the recipes and two in particular (the chocolate pie and the roasted veg) have become family favourites.Indeed the chocolate pie (and pie crust) recipe is worth the cost of the book on its own.

So why only four stars?Anyone who prints a recipe for lemon tart with gelatin to make it set, automatically loses a star - I am sure that this is not how it's cooked in Shutters! Also some of the dressings have an odd balance between oil and vinegar that will not be to many people's taste. Finally, there are a couple of stir-fried recipes which suggest cooking the food for too long.

If you have already bought this book, then I would suggest that you check Bill Granger's recipe books which are very similar in terms of inspiration and style. ... Read more
